I started Clomid. How early can I test to see if I'm pregnant?
You mentioned that you're doing fertility treatments. You're taking Clomid and you started that mid-September and you're wondering when you can find out if you're pregnant. I can understand why you'd be so anxious and why you'd want to know as soon as possible. Now, as for when you'll be able to find out if you're pregnant or not, there's so many different variables that will affect this and so my recommendation is that you call and talk to your doctor. They know the specifics of your situation, like where you were in your cycle when you started the Clomid, when they would except you to ovulate based on their knowledge of your previous cycle history. They can give you the best information. But generally speaking, you can usually find out if you're pregnant about a week after you've missed a period. So if it was supposed to start on Monday, you can usually find out if you're pregnant by the end of the week, Thursday Friday, Saturday. Over-the-counter pregnancy tests are detecting a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin, or hCG. Your body releases this hormone early in pregnancy and throughout the first trimester. The levels grow exponentially daily, especially early on in pregnancy. So each day makes a big difference in how much is in your blood. So, if you don't have enough, then the test may not detect it when you take an over-the-counter test too early. But if you give it a few days, like wait a week after your missed period, then usually an over-the-counter test will detect a positive result. But again, I think it would be best for you to talk to your doctor who knows exactly where you were in your cycle and when you could have been expected to ovulate and when you can find out if you're pregnant. I hope the best for you and that you're asking pregnancy questions in the future. If you have any others, though, feel free to ask them on our Facebook page at facebook.com/intermountainmoms and recommend us to your friends and family, too.

What is Clomid, and what should I know about it?
In order for a woman to get pregnant, she needs to ovulate, or release an egg that can then be fertilized by sperm. And in order for pregnancy to happen, intercourse needs to be timed just right with ovulation. There are some medical conditions out there that affect a woman's ability to ovulate. For example, one of those is polycystic ovarian syndrome, or PCOS. If you haven't been having irregular cycles, or you're not ovulating, and you know that because you've been testing, then you should talk with your doctor, and they'll be able to recommend a plan - something that will help to stimulate ovulation and hopefully increase your chances of conceiving. One of the treatment methods used commonly for women who aren't ovulating is Clomid. It's a medication that stimulates your body to release an egg. To increase your chances of conceiving, you need to start having intercourse every other day, 5 days after your last dose of Clomid is taken, and continue with this for a week. And if you do this, then hopefully things will be timed just right. In conjunction with Clomid therapy, your doctor will probably recommend checking for a luteinizing hormone surge, or LH surge, and that's associated with ovulation. You can detect this by using ovulation kits. And as soon as you're seeing a positive, that gives you about a 1 to 2 day window. So if you weren't already going to have intercourse during this time, then you need to plan on it. There are some potential side effects associated with Clomid use, and one is the risk of multiple gestation. For some people, that's not a risk, and that would be welcome, especially if they've been trying to have babies for a while. But you should know, when you take this, there's a slightly higher chance that you could end up with twins, or maybe even triplets. The chance of twins is about 7% to 8%, and that's higher than the normal population that isn't taking Clomid. Other side effects include headache, nausea, vomiting, breast tenderness, abdominal pain, bloating, mood swings. And many of these things are actually associated with pregnancy too, so it makes women feel extra hopeful, when they've been taking Clomid, that they're pregnant, but these symptoms, if they're associated with pregnancy won't happen until about 5 to 6 weeks gestation, or about 5 to 6 weeks from your last period. So you can expect to feel things if you've been taking Clomid. Hot flashes are also common. But if you experience anything that seems abnormal to you, call your doctor, and they'll decide if it's a side effect of the medication, or if further investigation is necessary. Now as for how many doses you might take, a lot of women do successfully get pregnant and conceive when they take Clomid, but sometimes it's not effective. And sometimes it takes multiple rounds, even when it does work. So it may not work the first month, or even the second, or even the third. Your doctor may recommend trying for a few months to see if it helps, but after about 6 months, studies have shown that pregnancy rates actually fall significantly for women who have been using Clomid for that amount of time. And at that point, a doctor should look into other reasons for infertility. Maybe in addition to not ovulating, there's fallopian tube blockage. There's so many different factors that go into a woman and a man being able to conceive, so they might want to investigate other possibilities, other underlying conditions that need to be addressed. 5 ways to get pregnant fast with Clomid
For more guidelines follow http://www.helpeslive.com Clomid (clomiphene) is a non-steroidal fertility medicine. It causes the pituitary gland to release hormones needed to stimulate ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary). Clomid is used to cause ovulation in women with certain medical conditions (such as polycystic ovary syndrome) that prevent naturally occurring ovulation. Treatment of the selected patient should begin with a low dose, 50 mg daily (1 tablet) for 5 days. The dose should be increased only in those patients who do not ovulate in response to cyclic 50 mg CLOMID. A low dosage or duration of treatment course is particularly recommended if unusual sensitivity to pituitary gonadotropin is suspected, such as in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome .

How long does it take for fertility drug to work? - Dr. Sangeeta Gomes
Fertility drugs are available in the form of tablets and injections. Tablets are those containing clomiphene citrate, anastrozole and letrozole. Injections are the ones known as the gonadotropin injections containing follicle stimulating hormones and luteinizing hormones either in the ratio of 1:1 or 2:1 or highly purified forms prepared from the DNA recombinant techniques. The oral medication is usually given from the 2nd day to the 5th day of the period or from the 5th day for 5 days. The doses 50 to 150 mg in the case of clomiphene citrate and 1 to 5 mg in the case of anastrozole and letrozole. The oral medications acts by inhibiting the estrogen receptors or by inhibiting some enzymes like the aromatase, thereby decreasing the estrogen level in the blood which indirectly stimulates the pituitary hyopothalamus axis to produce more follicle stimulating hormones which indirectly stimulates the ovary to form multiple eggs. These medicines are used in case of medicines with anovulatory cycles or in case of women with PCOS. Coming to the gonadotropin injections, they can be combined with the oral tablets in a low dose in case of intrauterine insemination cases to they are given purely from the day 2 in case of IVF cycles the treatment is usually given for 3 to 6 cycles in case of oral tablets and in case the woman does not get pregnant, we see stopping the oral medications or after stopping the gonadotropin injections, the woman starts producing the normal eggs and she gets pregnant naturally as the irregular hormones gets corrected the effect of the hormones lasts for 3 to 6 months even after stopping the medications, that is the oral tablets or the gonadotropin injections.

Thank you. DEPRESSION SCREENING TEST: http://healingfromdepression.com/depression-screening-test.htm My Story My name is Noah and on May 18 2011, I had a rare reaction to a vaccine called VIVITROL and consequently spiraled into a major, agitated, suicidal depression with depersonalization. I lost 25 lbs in 4 weeks and was in full panic or near panic for 8 weeks straight mixed with the darkest most painful depression I cold have ever imagined. I immediately could not work and had to move in with my parents who along with many siblings and friends had to watch me 24/7 as I was so suicidal. I was eventually hospitalized. Getting through each day seemed truly unbearable and I knew I would surely die. I have been put on many many different SSRI's SNRI's Tricyclics, Mood stabilizers, anti psychotics, holistic meds, acupuncture and even a form of shock therapy called RTMS. I barely saw any improvement in my condition for a full year. It was decided I had treatment resistant depression and I spent nearly every moment in tears. Weeks after starting my newest round of medications (Seroquel & Nortryptaline) as a last ditch effort, I had my blood drawn for possible hormone imbalances and my Testosterone levels came back 200 ng/Dl and 150 ng/Dl. The average 25 year old male has 750 ng/Dl. With this discovery I for the first time had any type of possible explanation as to why I was not getting better and why I might be so so sick. The symptoms of such Low T are very similar to those of major depression. I started Testosterone replacement therapy soon after and have been checking in with the world and documenting my experience with treatment as well as giving my insight and perspective on various topics of mental health. I am blessed to say that I have slowly, over the last 4 years, been improving and becoming more stable which I never thought to be possible. My low T manifested itself in the form of Major depression, anxiety, and depersonalization/ derealization for over a year. Gaining some mental stability back is nothing short of a miracle as I was near death for what felt like forever. I do not consider myself to be totally healed yet but I am closer now then ever before and aim to use what I have been through to help or at least offer support to others in need I was able to successfully come off my Seroquel and Pamelor. I work out all the time as a part of my mental health recovery!!! Weight training and all kinds of cardio rule much of my free time!

Can a thyroid disorder affect my ability to conceive? Can it affect a growing baby?
You mentioned that you and your husband have been trying to conceive for 5 months now, and you're wondering if that's normal and if there's certain parts of your medical history that might make it more difficult for you to get pregnant. I think it's helpful for couples to know that before they start the process of conceiving, that it can take up to 6 months normally, because in order for pregnancy to happen, egg and sperm need to meet, and that means that intercourse needs to be timed with ovulation. And even when things are timed just right, the chances of pregnancy are only about 30% to 35% - it's not 100%. So a lot of things have to go right, and that's why most couples have to try for several months before the woman actually gets pregnant. So the fact that you've been trying for 5 months is very normal. Keep trying to time intercourse with ovulation, and statistically speaking, it should happen in the next few months for you. But you did mention that you have a thyroid disorder. And that can definitely play into it, and this is something you want to make sure is in control before you conceive. So I suggest calling your doctor, letting them know that you're trying to have a baby, and based on their knowledge of your circumstances, they'll decide if further investigation or treatment is necessary before you get pregnant. And here's why. In the first place, it can affect your ability to conceive if your thyroid hormone is off, it might make it so you don't ovulate or have regular periods, which would make it difficult. But then if you do get pregnant, if you have abnormal thyroid levels, it can affect the development of the baby. So that's why you want to make sure that your thyroid hormone is in a normal range before you get pregnant. Good luck with it, and if you have more questions for me in the future, feel free to ask them on our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/IntermountainMoms, and recommend us to your friends and family too.

I stopped using Clomid after 8 months. Will this change my cycle?
You mentioned that you've been trying to have a baby, and you've been taking Clomid for 8 months now, and recently stopped taking it. I'm sure you've been on quite the emotional rollercoaster over the last 8 months. You asked a question about whether or not it's going to affect your cycles, and I'm sure you're wondering what can be done from here on out to help you have a baby. I suggest talking with your doctor, perhaps the one who's been prescribing the Clomid, and talk to them about how they feel about it, what's going to happen to your cycles, what's the next step. Actually, women who haven't conceived after 6 cycles of Clomid should be evaluated to determine if there's other causes behind the infertility, and to find out what treatment would be best for you since Clomid didn't work. I sincerely hope the best for you, and that you're able to ask pregnancy questions in the future. If you have any other questions for me in the future, feel free to ask them on our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/IntermountainMoms, and recommend us to your friends and family too.

Why Do I Ovulate and Not Get Pregnant?
Why do I ovulate and not get pregnant? I’m assuming you are not using birth control methods that would interfere with that. No, I’m trying to get pregnant. If you’ve had social diseases, the inflammation they cause can block the Fallopian tubes, preventing pregnancy. I was treated for that ages ago. The inflammation and blockage of the tubes to the ovaries will prevent conception, and that damage could have been done in the months or years before you realized you had a relatively silent disease. I get regular doctor checkups, and no one said that was an issue. You could have reproductive machinery working at full tilt but it fails because other hormones are in the way. For example, a thyroid problem could cause your body to ovulate too late in the cycle for an embryo to implant before your next period. The only hormones raging are the ones driving my biological clock. You might ovulate but not get pregnant because the endometrium is too thin, but that’s something a doctor would have to check out. You could try getting more iron and micro-nutrients in general, since that might impede conception. I’m taking prenatal vitamins now. There’s the possibility that you’re reading signs like mucus changes that suggest you are ovulating but are not really. I’m using ovulation tests as religiously now as I used to take birth control. Speaking of which, around one percent of pregnancies are reported as virgin births. This would not be a virgin birth. True, but the egg is only good for a day or two, though sperm theoretically lasts five days in her body. If you have sex a day or two after the egg’s ideal time, that would explain why you are not getting pregnant. One solution your husband would not object to, is having sex every other night to ensure that there is sperm in there whenever the egg makes its arrival So sex on the weekends means I might not get pregnant. I know it is hard to imagine, but you can indeed get busy on a Tuesday night. In fact, if you’re only doing things on the weekends, that explains why you ovulate but do not get pregnant. We can try that. Anything else that might be causing it? If you are too stressed about getting pregnant, it could interfere with both ovulation and the biochemistry to sustain implantation. I’d hate to think that my infertility could be caused by worrying about my fertility. I just need a way to relax. Amazingly, sex solves both issues, at least until you start budgeting for three.

How can I get pregnant if I have a cyst?
You mentioned that you have ovarian cysts, and you're wondering if this is going to affect your ability to become pregnant. And the cause behind the ovarian cysts is going to dictate whether you're going to have an issue getting pregnant. Many women with ovarian cysts have no problem at all, but there are some that do, based on the reason for the cyst. Now ovarian cysts are little fluid-filled sacks that form on or in a woman's ovary. And they can be associated with a monthly cycle, because you're body actually releases what's called a follicle, and sometimes the follicle grows but does't release an egg, and instead turns into a cyst. Or if you get pregnant, then sometimes the egg is released and the cyst can stay on the ovary for a long time. So just normal a menstrual cycle can cause ovarian cysts, and so can pregnancy. But there are other causes. There's dermoid cysts that actually can contain fat, hair, and teeth, which all sounds really weird, and sometimes doctors feel like those need to be taken out, but they're not necessarily harmful to your health. There's ovarian cysts caused by polycystic ovarian syndrome (or PCOS) and this actually can cause infertility issues. And it's a metabolic syndrome, it affects a lot of different things in your body. And so again it would just be best for you to talk to your doctor, and they can decide what the cause is behind the ovarian cysts, and based on that, give you the best guidance and direction, and tell you whether or not it's going to affect your ability to become pregnant. Now even women who have PCOS (or polycystic ovarian syndrome) can get pregnant, but sometimes it does require the help of a physician who's prescribing medications and helping them to understand the process better and increase their chances of fertility. if you have any other questions for me though, feel free to ask them on our Facebook page, and recommend us to your friends and family too.

Chances of conception with fertility drugs - Dr. Shefali Tyagi
Infertility is on the rise, whether is the first time you are planning for a baby or you already have one. There is a problem getting pregnant nowadays. So to make things better, the first line of treatment is to put on clomiphene citrate. So what are the chances of getting pregnant when out on clomiphene citrate? The most common problem in conceiving is the ovulation. Majority of the women are not able to produce the egg and that is the reason why they are not able to conceive. Clomiphene citrate, increases the chances as to as high as 80% if ovulation is the problem. Of all the women who have been put on clomiphene citrate, 50% will conceive. So that is the first line of treatment for infertility treatment. If the clomiphene is not working, there are other steps, which will be discussed by your doctor and go into the detail and go ahead with the treatment.

How can I decrease the chances of my baby having birth defects?
Not all birth defects are preventable, but there are things a woman can do to increase the chances of having a healthy baby. The Centers for Disease Control has challenged all women to make a PACT, or a commitment to themselves to do whatever they can to get healthy before trying to get pregnant. PACT is an acronym to help us remember what we can do. P is for Plan ahead. A is Avoid harmful substances. C is Choose a healthy lifestyle. T is Talk with your doctor. Let's start with P, or Planning ahead. One of the first things you can do is start today by taking a prenatal vitamin that has at least 400mg of folic acid. This ensures that there's enough folic acid in your system when you actually get pregnant. It will reduce the chances of your baby having spina bifida. There are different germ layers forming in the first couple of weeks after conception before you even know you're pregnant, and if there's not enough folic acid, that's when this can happen. So you need to plan ahead and take a prenatal vitamin even before you start trying to conceive. A is for Avoiding harmful substances. Avoid alcohol, smoking, illicit street drugs, and think twice about prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, and herbal supplements. There is no safe amount of alcohol at any time during pregnancy, so just avoid it. If you're trying to get pregnant, stop drinking before you even start the process. If you do drink during pregnancy, then it increases the chances of your baby having a host of complications that can last a lifetime for them. These are called fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. As for smoking, it increases the chances of complications during pregnancy, like preterm labor, preterm delivery, placenta previa, placental abruption. Then some women think "Oh, I've done great, I didn't smoke while I was pregnant.", but then they start again after the baby is born. Secondhand smoke can also be deadly to a baby and increase the chances of sudden infant death syndrome, also known as SIDS. If your own health isn't a good enough reason to quit, then let your baby's health be a good motivation to stop smoking. It's never too late. Because of common sense, most people figure that it's smart to stay away from illicit street drugs during pregnancy, and really, at anytime in life. But some people do question the use of marijuana and think that it might help with nausea during pregnancy or other discomforts that you feel during pregnancy. But it, too, is not safe and has been linked to developmental problems as a child gets older - lower IQ, attention deficit disorder - so stay away from marijuana. If you've been on any prescription medication, or are thinking about taking any over-the-counter pills or herbal supplements, talk with your OB provider first and make sure they're safe during pregnancy. C stands for Choose a healthy lifestyle. Talk with your doctor before you get pregnant. Make a preconception appointment, and they'll discuss your health history and decide if anything needs to get under control before you get pregnant. A couple of health conditions they'll talk to you about or consider are obesity, high blood pressure, thyroid problems, and diabetes. If these things are not well-controlled, then it can increase the chances of pregnancy complications and birth defects. Lastly, T stands for Talk with your health provider. They're always going to be your best resource, because they have a knowledge of your circumstances, and can give you the best advice if you have questions, and tailor it to your needs. But they'll also talk with you at your first few prenatal appointments, specifically about past infections, things that might pose a risk to you during pregnancy, like sexually transmitted infections, hepatitis. Take toxoplasmosis for example - this is a parasite that you can get from changing cat litter. So this is important for a pregnant woman to know, because it can affect your growing baby. If you have a cat at home and you're trying to conceive, then happily, you'll be able to pass that duty off to your partner until after you've had the baby. They'll also talk with you about immunizations that you should get during pregnancy, one of which is the flu shot, and another important one is the Tdap booster shot (tetanus, diphtheria & pertussis). Pertussis is the whooping cough piece, and babies are left vulnerable. They can get whooping cough during the first year of life, because they can't get their own immunization until around their 1st birthday. So the mother is given a Tdap booster shot after 27 weeks, and as her body builds up extra immunity, it's passed to the baby through the placenta, and that's what offers them protection until their 1st birthday. Pregnancy is a really exciting time, but it can also be super stressful. By doing these things, you'll at least have some peace of mind knowing that you did everything you could to make sure that your baby is as healthy as possible.

First Clomid Cycle Update | TTC
Hey guys, I wanted to update you guys on what is going on with our TTC journey. I started my first Clomid cycle of 50mg in March. Unfortunately it didn’t work so my doctor gave me another dose of 100mg. So I basically did 2 cycles of Clomid in one cycle. It has been a week since my last dose and I still haven’t gotten a positive OPK test. I think next steps for me would be to keep restating. If I don’t get a positive my this weekend, my doctor is going to send me to a fertility endocrinologist. Hopefully we can find out what the underlying cause of this. If you are going through the same thing, please comment and share your story. Thank you for watching and don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE for more videos.

I missed my period, but have negative pregnancy tests and positive ovulation tests. Why?
An ovulation prediction kit helps a woman know when she's ovulating. It works by detecting a surge in luteinizing hormone, or LH, and this happens usually about mid-cycle. And if you're testing for it, then you should see this 12 to 36 hours before your body is going to ovulate. Now, home pregnancy tests are detecting human chorionic gonadotropin, a different type of hormone also known as HCG. And a woman's body starts to release this during early pregnancy, and levels rise exponentially until about 8 to 11 weeks gestation. But both of these hormones, LH and HCG, are glycoproteins, basically a protein molecule with a sugar molecule attached to it. And there are some women who have gotten positive ovulation kit test results during early pregnancy, but haven't gotten the positive pregnancy test result yet, because it's too soon to get that, but the ovulation kit is detecting the presence of the glycoprotein. So you can't use ovulation prediction kit tests as pregnancy tests, or vice versa. If you think you're pregnant, basically the best thing to do is to wait and see if your period starts like it should. If you're period never starts, that day has come when it should have, and it doesn't, then it's time to take a home pregnancy test. If that first result is negative, then wait another 5 to 7 days and retest. It's possible to get false negatives if you take the test too early, and for some women, this is even on the day of their missed period, or in the few days following, because they ovulated later than usual. Most women ovulate about mid-cycle, but some women do ovulate a little bit later, and if this is the case with you, then you might not see a positive pregnancy test until at least 2 weeks from that time, which might be a week or so after your missed period. So again, I recommend taking another test in about 5 to 7 days and seeing what that result says, and if it's positive, congratulations! But if it's negative, keep the appointment set that you have with your OB already, and based on their ability to ask you more specific questions and to perform an exam, they'll decide what's going on, and they'll be able to give you the best advice. If you have any other questions for me in the future, feel free to ask them on our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/IntermountainMoms, and recommend us to your friends and family too.

Trying to conceive with Fibroids| TTC Tips to improve your fertility| Dr. Morris
Dr Randy Morris MD-The BOARD CERTIFIED fertility expert with TTC tips if you have fibroids. It is possible for women with fibroids to get pregnant. If you think or know you have fibroids, the most important factor for determining their impact on your fertility is where those fibroids are located. Some fibroids may not cause any problems with conception. Fibroids can cause infertility if they are either located inside the uterine cavity, are causing distortion of the uterine cavity or if they cause the fallopian tubes to become blocked. In any of these cases, surgery should be performed to remove the fibroids. Other treatments for fibroids are not recommended for women who want to attempt pregnancy. They are reserved for women who are done with child bearing. Fibroids that are located entirely inside the uterine cavity can be removed without incisions by using hysteroscopy. Essentially, a thin telescope is placed through the vagina into the uterus. Fibroids can be resected and removed through the scope without making any incisions. Recovery time is quick and pregnancy can be attempted right away. Fibroids that are partly or completely within the muscle of the uterus will require incisions in the abdomen to remove. Previously, many fibroids like this were removed using a telescope that went through an incision in the abdomen called a laparoscope. However, many experts now recommend avoiding this method due to a fear that unseen cancers could be spread when trying to remove the fibroid from the abdomen. Currently, the recommended method to remove fibroids is with a larger single incision. Recover times for this type of surgery are longer and pregnancy should not be attempted until the uterine muscle has had a chance to heal. This usually takes a 2-3 months. The great news is that removal of fibroids can be an excellent way to improve your chances for becoming pregnant. Trying to conceive with endometriosis| Improve your fertility| Dr. Morris tips
Dr Randy Morris MD-The BOARD CERTIFIED fertility expert with weekly TTC tips on InfertilityTV Endometriosis is when the tissue which grows inside your uterus, starts to grow outside of the uterus in your abdomen. Endometriosis can cause pain and infertility or both. Diagnosing endometriosis can be tricky. Not all women with painful periods have endometriosis. Women with more severe forms of endometriosis will usually have endometriosis cysts in their ovaries that can been on ultrasound. Women with a less severe stage, however, cannot be diagnosed with ultrasound. For these women, surgery to look inside the abdomen is the only way to prove whether endometriosis is present or not. If you have endometriosis, it can be more difficult to conceive. The more severe the endometriosis, the more difficult it may be. There are several options for trying to conceive with endometriosis. Surgery to vaporize endometriosis is an effective option to improve fertility. Word of caution, not every woman will get pregnant simply by vaporizing her endometriosis. In fact, for women with mildest forms of endometriosis, you would have to do surgery on 11 women to get one extra pregnancy. Women with most severe forms of endometriosis, who have endometriosis cysts in their ovary, should not have surgery if their ovarian reserve is poor as it can further lower the number of viable eggs they have remaining. The use of fertility pills such as Clomid or injections such as Follistim with either intercourse or inseminations are commonly to used to treat infertility but their effectiveness in women with endometriosis remains questionable. Finally, IVF has become a go to option for women with endometriosis. Its effectiveness is well proven compared to other treatments but questions remain over whether pregnancy rates are as good as they are compared to couples with other types of fertility problems. After dealing with infertility due to PCOS(Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), many tests and 3 rounds of Clomid(medication used to induce ovulation) We are overjoyed to say that We are FINALLY pregnant!!! What is polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)? Polycystic (pah-lee-SIS-tik) ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a health problem that can affect a woman's menstrual cycle, ability to have children, hormones, heart, blood vessels, and appearance. With PCOS, women typically have: high levels of androgens (AN-druh-junz). These are sometimes called male hormones, although females also make them. missed or irregular periods many small cysts (sists) in their ovaries. Cysts are fluid-filled sacs. Lack of ovulation is usually the reason for fertility problems in women with PCOS. Several medications that stimulate ovulation can help women with PCOS become pregnant. Even so, other reasons for infertility in both the woman and man should be ruled out before fertility medications are used. Also, there is an increased risk for multiple births (twins, triplets) with fertility medications. For most patients, clomiphene citrate (Clomid®, Serophene®) is the first choice therapy to stimulate ovulation. What tests are used to diagnose polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)? There is no single test to diagnose PCOS. Your doctor will take a medical history, perform a physical exam, and possibly take some tests to rule out other causes of your symptoms. During the physical exam the doctor will want to measure your blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), and waist size. He or she also will check out the areas of increased hair growth, so try to allow the natural hair growth for a few days before the visit. Your doctor might want to do a pelvic exam to see if your ovaries are enlarged or swollen by the increased number of small cysts. A vaginal ultrasound also might be used to examine the ovaries for cysts and check out the endometrium, the lining of the uterus. The uterine lining may become thicker if your periods are not regular. You also might have blood taken to check your hormone levels and to measure glucose (sugar) levels PCOS Awareness

Is it possible to get pregnant with irregular periods & brown discharge? - Dr. Shailaja N
Getting pregnant with irregular cycles. Many people say that they have been taking folic acid and not getting pregnant. Folic acid is not the one that causes to be pregnant. Ovulation inducing drugs like clomiphene is responsible for ovulation induction and getting pregnant. So irregular cycle itself is against your conception and brownish discharge you need not be very worried. Unless your doctor has ruled out causes like endometrial polyps, cervical polyps, can give rise to brownish discharge. If all these causes have been ruled out, then if you correct your ovulation problem with Ovulation inducing drugs, then you should be able to conceive.
