How do you sell your green products or services into the federal government? More specifically, how do you sell into the Department of Defense? DoD is committed to greening both civilian and military operations, as mandated by Executive Order 13514, but also to meet strategic agency goals. Now green suppliers are tasked with understanding how to identify opportunities and close sales. GOVgreen can help. Join us for a series of presentations where we'll outline best practices and strategies vendors MUST incorporate into their sales campaigns in order to successfully crack the Federal nut. Part I, Selling Green to the Federal Government: DoD, took place April 19th. Presenters Howard Snow and Tom Jones lead the discussion and Stacey Price, Director of Sales and Event Services for GOVgreen, moderated. Lt. Col. Howard Snow, U.S. Marine Corps, Ret., is a Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy and President of Federal Business Strategies and Solutions. Captain Tom Jones, U.S. Navy, Ret., is a Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force and President of Federal Business Navigators, LLC.

So, I am sick of those "Get Rich Quick" videos and the ones about Passive Income. All BS. Here is my solution on how to become Financially Independent working as a Software Engineer as a Software Engineer. You can do this at any age. Just be a decent Software dude that has a good personality and gets along with people. - Go to the big box Defense Contractors, Apply. Get them to get you cleared in the Intelligence Community. This only works for this community since the contractor rates are better than any other defense community. - Work for a year building up your network of like minded folks. - Start looking around for smaller companies under 35 people. Note if they have an office space, DO NOT go there. They are stupid in that they are paying huge overhead for a useless office. All DOD work is done on site at the prime or government facilities. Also, the owner is just satisfying his ego by having a physical office. He is also not paying his people well since he has to cover this stupid overhead. - Get an hourly rate. DO NOT get a salary. This is crazy for this DOD work. Government will allow for an Extended Work Week in the case you are busy and have deadlines, you can work more than your allotted 40 hours. Thus when paid hourly, you bank that. Not your psycho company owner. - At a small cool company, they run the business form their homes and sub out the clearance, accounting and health insurance work. This is very good. - Set your own work hours once at the smaller company, collect your maximum billable rate for your software position. -- this is negotiated with the prime contractor for the software experience level. Everything is negotiable. A good company will tell you what they are charging for you and what you will get. Other will not because they are robbing you. ie, I was billed out at $150/hour and I took home $130/hour. Not bad. The rest covered company small overhead. Again, do not go Salary. This is criminal. - Now start working, learning stuff, going on business deployments and saving your money. DO Not buy new shiny things. That is a Fool's game. Invest in an IS&P index fund at no more than 0.03% fees. See Fidelity FUSVX and IVV and Vanguard Index funds. Let your money grow through the magic of compounded interest. - Again, do not buy new shiny things like cars, boats, women. Women will ruin your plan to financial independence. Women can be replaced, money (which I equate to time) cannot. - Buy a house in a new development. Keep for two years - hopefully it has appreciated and you can sell for-sale by owner and pocket the profit. Rinse and repeat in another new neighborhood. Do this a few times and your will eventually be able to buy a house with cash. - Save, 10-years goes quick. But being financially independent means pure freedom. You do not have to retire and do nothing. But you have the option to. Keep working, go part-time, start your own business. Start a sailing VLOG like everyone else, get a cute young girl onboard as crew and pimp her out in YouTube videos. Bam, positive cash flow. - So, be a software engineer, go to a defense contractor to get your golden ticket (security clearance) go to a small cool company that pays you your max rate, invest in a low-fee index fund, buy and roll a new house every two years. Do not buy shiny stupid things, do not let a woman derail your goal. Done... freedom. - Note: Do not waste time talking to software firms in Silicon valley. These companies are jokes and pay under $25k and give you no perks and work you to death in the high-cost area of San Francisco. They are shitty companies. Working is about making lots of money so you can be free and go and do what you want with your life. Oh, for the 401k, just put in enough so you get the company matching. one more thing, do not hire a financial advisor like Ameriprise, they will rob you in fees. Noone cares more about your money and life than do you. So learn how to make it work for you. # ====================== Help support this channel by becoming a Patron (PATREON) https://www.patreon.com/DroneDogs

This seminar will give you the opportunity to hear how the GSA MAS Program can benefit your acquisition needs, as well as the organizational advantages of awarding a GSA MAS Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA). For 60 years, GSA’s widely used $33- billion a year program, the Multiple Award Schedules (MAS) Program, has made it possible for federal agencies to buy smarter. The GSA MAS Program offers a number of approaches to acquiring complete solutions that drive better value and save taxpayer dollars. Whether your concern is Small Business set-asides, online shopping using GSA e-Tools, Contractor Teaming Arrangements (CTS), or obtaining the best possible price, the GSA MAS offers the contract flexibility that you need to achieve your acquisition goals and offer efficiency and value to both government and industry. Additionally, our presenters will discuss the GSA Common Acquisition Platform (CAP) and the Acquisition Gateway. The CAP is a set of digital and shared services that promote, support, and encourage smarter acquisition by simplifying, accelerating, and improving how the federal government selects and buys products and services. The Acquisition Gateway, built by GSA, helps federal government buyers from all agencies act as one acquisition community by providing a workspace that is accurate, useful, and unbiased. Inside the Acquisition Gateway, you can find government-wide (not just GSA!) solution comparisons, connect with other acquisition professionals, and explore product and service category hallways.

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC) have collaborated on a series of acquisition-based presentations called “Lifting the Curtain.” The purpose of these sessions is to educate both Government and Industry on the how Government and Industry respond to each other during the acquisition lifecycle. This seminar will focus on past performance and offer valuable insight and useful information on the purpose, selection, and evaluation of past performance information that is beneficial and applicable to both government and industry acquisition professionals. A panel of subject matter experts from government and industry will unveil best practices, techniques, and “tips of the trade” about past performance information and address questions that you have probably asked yourself at one time or another: What is the Government’s objective in soliciting past performance information on a contractor? How does industry choose the projects it wishes to present as examples of past performance? Is there an issue in presenting the same past performance examples across multiple projects? Is past performance effective as everyone presents projects that “receive an A”? What other sources does Government use or should use in assessing past performance? Do past performance examples in the management and/or technical volumes have a positive effect on the evaluation? Is there a better way for Government to assess past performance?

During this seminar, you will hear from representatives of all of the AbilityOne Program partners; learn about how to contract with AbilityOne and the breadth of products and services available; and discover the many benefits of contracting with this program. Through a national network of more than 550 nonprofit agencies, the AbilityOne® Program delivers nearly $3 billion in products and services purchased by the federal government at fair market prices. The procurement of these products and services enables the employment of more than 45,000 individuals who are blind or have significant disabilities, including veterans and wounded warriors, reducing the astoundingly high percentage (70%) of Americans with disabilities who do not have jobs. The AbilityOne Program’s mandatory source requirement - as specified by the Javits-Wagner-O’Day Act (Title 41 of the United States Code, Sections 8501-8506) - is critical to providing long-term stable employment for Americans who are blind or have significant disabilities. For Federal customers, contracts under the AbilityOne Program offer high quality products available through a variety of distributors at reasonable prices and delivered just-in-time. AbilityOne service contracts offer a stable workforce dedicated to quality and customer satisfaction. The provisions of the program enable a long-term supplier relationship, eliminating the need to re-compete the contract. The American taxpayer also benefits from reduced disability payments made to people with significant disabilities and the increased tax revenues their employment generates. The AbilityOne Commission® is the independent federal agency that administers the AbilityOne Program in partnership with two central nonprofit agencies (CNAs) – National Industries for the Blind (NIB) and SourceAmerica® – that match government contracts with nonprofit agencies across the country that train and employ people with disabilities. More information about AbilityOne can be found on the AbilityOne website.

With so much "alphabet soup" in project management today, it can be difficult to sort out the different process models like Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) or the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). What benefits do these models bring to state agencies that are either interested in earning certifications for themselves or who have to evaluate vendors touting various credentials? This webinar unravels the mysteries of the CMMI model. Our presenter reviewed how CMMI fits with project management principles and Agile life-cycle development. Participants developed an understanding of the different CMMI levels and the steps that organizations must take to achieve each level of certification. The speaker provided CMMI tools and processes that can be used even by agencies that choose not to pursue the CMMI credential. Our presenter: Audra Stewart, CSM, Senior Technical Specialist and Quality and Process Improvement Manager for ICF International. Ms. Stewart has over 14 years of expertise in process improvement in the areas of software development, organizational change, process optimization, risk management, and project management.

Guillaume Brat presents an overview of NASA’s recent research and development of V&V tools for flight critical software. He describes our overall approach and the tools we have introduced at different phases of the software life cycle. For example, we have improved testing by developing a statistical learning approach tor defining test cases. The tool automatically identifies possible unsafe conditions by analyzing outliers in output data. At the code level, we have developed an open-source framework for developing static analyzers for C and C++ programs called IKOS. At the design level, we have developed a suite of scalable, analysis tools for Simulink models. He summarizes where we think we are in this program and where we want to go next, especially with regard to autonomous systems. BIOGRAPHY Guillaume Brat has a Ph.D. from UT Austin. He is the Area Lead for Robust Software Engineering in the Intelligent Systems Division. He is also a technical lead for autonomous system assurance in the Safe and Autonomous System Operations project and for air traffic and vehicle software and system assurance research.

When government engages and works with private, for-profit firms, nonprofits, and other governments, there are more opportunities for information exchange and coordination, cooperation, and collaboration. Schedule solicitations list multiple NAICS codes under a single SIN when multiple industries describe the scope of work to be performed under that SIN. Many firms propose under multiple SINs in their offer. However, are you aware in accordance with the FAR and the SBA Regulations, only a single NAICS code is assigned to any given Schedule contract, regardless of the number of SINs awarded under that Schedule contract?
