Step 1: Read ingredient labels Read ingredient labels for allergen warnings, and get educated about how allergens are processed. Tip The FDA only requires that the top eight allergen-producing ingredients be listed on a label, and foods containing gluten aren’t always identified. Step 2: Remove processed foods Remove processed foods and glutens from your home. Substitute flours such as rice, sorghum, white bean, quinoa, and amaranth. Use vegan items in your cooking when you can. Step 3: Make hot pockets Make puff-dough pocket sandwiches with beans and broccoli. Add tasty alternatives, including salsa bean salads, fresh chopped veggie treats, potato skins, or mini pizzas with rice cheese. Tip Cooking food can reduce immediate allergen threats in some cases. Step 4: Make veggie treats Make treats with vegetables, rice crackers, and organic, juice-sweetened jellies for after school. Step 5: Make pot stickers Make pot stickers with gluten-free wonton wrappers filled with seared garlic, ginger, and scallions. Step 6: Create desserts from fruits Create desserts from fruits, which rarely contain allergens. Slice different fruits so kids can choose, or make a fruit salad. Did You Know? A National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey reports that obese kids are 60 percent more likely to have a food allergy.

This video is not intended to replace medical advice. This is for information purposes only. This video is for informational purposes only and should not be used to replace the guidance of a local mental health professional. Your kid is hungry. They haven't eaten all day. But when you put food in front of them, they just stare at it. They worry about the taste. They worry about the brand. Is this the same brand as last time? They worry about the temperature, texture, look and origin of the food. By the time they are willing to smell it, you are ready to toss it. Sound familiar? Some kids have a legitimate fear of food. These aren't spoiled kids. These aren't entitled kids. These aren't kids that need a good "whooping'" and their refused leftovers served for breakfast. These are kids with a true anxiety. This week is World Autism Awareness Week so I am doing a slightly different style of video. My little boy Finn is four years old and has autism. It is very common for autistic children to be picky eaters, for a variety of different reasons. I go into more detail about the reasoning behind this here: https://www.myfussyeater.com/autism-food-issues/ but I thought it might also be helpful for other parents if I showed an average day of eating for Finn. If you have an autistic child I would love to hear their experiences with food and mealtimes. Maybe we can all help eachother to learn and understand it a bit more.

Hello everybody It’s Ilana, co-creator of the 2B Mindset! In today’s video I am going to cover pickiness. I am here to help! 00:23 How do I overcome the fear of trying new vegetables? Understand our taste buds are always changing. What influences us, our habits, and our behaviors is changing and evolving too. Just because you didn’t like steamed, sad looking, ill-prepared veggies as a kid does not mean you’re not going to like them now. My first tip is to go to a restaurant you already love. If you love how they grill their steak or make their pizza you will also probably like how they sauté their spinach. Start playing with the side vegetable menu. Try their roasted cauliflower or spinach because if you like how they are doing other things you might also enjoy veggies at their place. When you find something you like ask the waiter how it was made, then start infusing those cooking methods and veggies into your own home! 01:17 How do I get myself to like vegetables as an adult who never has? I recommend you work with the dishes you already love. If you love mac and cheese, get broccoli florets and stir them into the mac and cheese. That way you get all the flavors you love but now all of a sudden you are eating a lot more broccoli! You can’t tell the difference and it will start making you more open-minded. You can do something similar with lasagna, try layering in a thickly sliced eggplant or zucchini. You will not realize it’s in there but in the meantime you, your family, and everyone around you is eating more veggies and becoming more welcome to their textures, flavors, and all the nutrition they offer. There are so many great ways to start incorporating more veggies. For example, cauliflower rice, if you like meatballs and rice, you will probably like meatballs and cauliflower rice. If you like vodka sauce, try it with zucchini noodles. You do not have to go full in and eat only salads. You can start manipulating your foods with fun stir fry and different marinades. Keep being open minded and welcome to trying new things. If you aren’t allergic you probably will not have any sort of reaction that a little sip of water can’t take away! 02:48 How do you give snacks to picky kids? Picky kids tend to eat with their eyes so I am a huge fan of little containers. I always send my daughter to school with a lot of little containers. I fill them up with all kinds of different fruits and veggies. Also become a fan of the mandolin slicer. Take a piece of cucumber, pepper, or apple and slice it into these fun little chips. Sprinkle it with lemon juice and salt and it tastes just like a chip! You can also put a salad dressing into another cup for dipping. This create a crisp texture that kids can really be open minded to. I also love playing with different colors of fruits and vegetables. If your kid said they don’t like red cherry tomatoes, then try yellow ones. Have fun with it, put them up to your eyes and call them eyeballs! Kids love when you smile, engage, and you model by eating it too. I love string cheeses for kids because they get to hold it in their hand and feel empowered. Guacamole cups because they don’t brown. When I do things like apple slices I always put lemon juice over them so they don’t brown because picky kids are not going to eat an apple if it goes brown. Work with them and do these tricks so it makes it more welcoming and appealing to the eye and they will eat it. And of course Daily Sunshine is designed for the picky eater. It is organic, blended fruits and vegetables, 10 grams of plant based protein, and tastes like a milkshake. Once your kids start liking this you can even add in the Power Greens boost. Kids will surprise you. Do not assume your kids are picky just because you are. Soups are another great way to deal with pickiness. If you have a blender you can blend and boil any vegetable into a soup, purée it, and you don’t even have to know what’s in it. It always tastes good. Use stir fry, lasagnas, and all these other kinds of dishes you love like mac and cheese to throw in more veggies. Can’t get enough? We discovered my five year old's food allergies back when he was just a few months old. Jill Hayman, 36, from Montrose Scotland, lives off a diet primarily made up of crisp sandwiches and fizzy drinks – and has never sat down to eat a proper hot meal with a knife and fork. Jill has a list of approximately 18 food and drink items she can stomach – what she refers to as her ‘safe’ foods; these include fizzy and energy drinks, jelly sweets, crisps and chocolate, with bread making up the majority of her ‘meals’. Unsurprisingly Jill gets through, on average, seven loaves of bread per week. In an effort to help other allergy and EOE parents not feel alone, and to have a safe, understanding place to ask questions and share ideas, my husband and I have started a weekly food allergy live Q&A where you can ask anything because food allergies affects all facets of life! This week's questions centered a lot on eating out and we gave our recommendations! *As a reminder--we are not medical professionals and are simply sharing what has worked for us. Do not take anything we say as medical advice and always follow the advice of your board certified allergist and pediatrician.* Join us live either on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AllergyAweso... or Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/allergy_awe... if you'd like to ask a question on Fridays at noon OR--message me with your question if you can't join live and we'll answer it for you!

Grass-fed, pastured meats Fish/seafood (low mercury options) Fresh fruits (berries are your best low glycemic bet) stick to 1 serving of another fruit per day. Fresh vegetables (mostly cooked or juiced at first) No high starch veggies. Asparagus Avocado Artichoke hearts Brussels sprouts Carrots Spinach Celery Broccoli Zucchini Cabbage Peppers (all kinds) Cauliflower Parsley Eggplant Green onions Starchy Vegetables that are Ok* These vegetables are quite starchy, so eat them in moderation especially if you’re trying to lose weight. Butternut squash* Acorn squash* Yam* Sweet potato* Beets* Eggs (up to 3 a day, over easy is best) Nuts (no more than a cup per day, chew well and sprouted nuts if they have phytates) Seeds (sprouted) Healthy oils (olive, walnut, flaxseed, macadamia, avocado, coconut, ghee) I like to say fill your plate with 2/3 low starch veggies and 1/3 meats or protein, lots of bone broth in soups or sipped from a mug in the morning as with meals. DON’T EAT Cereal grains Legumes (including peanuts) Dairy Refined sugar Potatoes Processed foods Overly salty foods Refined vegetable oils Candy/junk/processed food Another way to go is to do the whole 30 diet, it's a little stricter but it's a good place to start because you are removing a lot of sugar from honey & approved sweetener. http://whole30.com/pdf-downloads/ The gut health info is primarily from the GAPS book by Dr Natasha Campbell-Mcbride MAKE SURE EVERYONE IS POOPING! Most cats are picky eaters, and as such, less likely to be interested in some human foods than dogs, but because a cat's digestive system is different from a human's, some human foods can be highly toxic and even deadly to cats. The following seven foods should never be given to cats. If your cat accidentally ingests any of these foods, emergency veterinary treatment may be necessary and an immediate visit to the veterinarian is essential. Onions and garlic All members of the onion family (shallots, onions, garlic, scallions, etc.) contain a compound that can damage cats' red blood cells if eaten in sufficient quantities. Some of these are more toxic than others, and cooking does not destroy the toxin. While most cats probably wouldn't eat raw onions or garlic, even products that contain small traces can be dangerous. A particular caution applies to baby food, which is often used to entice sick cats to eat: some brands contain onion powder to add flavoring. Read labels carefully before feeding. Alcohol Alcohol can be extremely dangerous for cats, leading to intoxication, coma and even death. Due to their small size, cats are far more sensitive to the effects of alcohol than humans. Cats are often attracted to mixed drinks containing cream or milk, such as eggnog. Chocolate Even though cats don't have a sweet tooth, some cats will eat chocolate as part of nibbling on a cookie, candy or other baked treats. Chocolate contains caffeine and theobromine. The darker the chocolate, the higher the theobromine levels. Moldy or spoiled food Some molds can produce multiple toxins that can cause vomiting, diarrhea and neurological symptoms. Spoiled food can contain bacteria that can cause intestinal problems. Raw fish Eating raw fish can result in a thiamine deficiency, which can lead to loss of appetite, seizures, and in severe cases, death. Raw dough Dough made with live yeast can be extremely dangerous for cats. The stomach provides an ideal environment for yeast to multiply. This will lead to the dough expanding in the stomach, which can be severe enough to cut off blood flow to the stomach wall and affect breathing. It can also cause the stomach to rupture. As yeast metabolizes the sugar in the dough, alcohol is produced, which can lead to alcohol poisoning. Cooked bones Gnawing on Raw bones can be a great way for kitty to keep her teeth clean, but never give cooked bones to your cat. Cooked bones can splinter and cause intestinal perforations.

Hi guys! Today I share with you what my 2 year old, Lily has eaten on this day. She is an extremely fussy eater, so getting her to eat foods like meat and vegetables is hard. She also has a few food allergies, so everything in this video is free from cows milk, peanuts, eggs and peas. Hope you enjoyed and got some meal ideas if you have a fussy toddler too! :) I couldn't find the exact video recipe I used for the vegan mac n cheese, but this one is very similar: https://www.facebook.com/tastyvegetarian/videos/1841829396078942/ Are you following me on Instagram? @robynbelle_

Meal planning for picky eaters can be a nightmare! How do you meal plan when the members of your family have different eating restrictions or preferences? ** Pick up a copy of my Mindful Meal Planning e-book, only $6, here: http://christineluken.com/mindful-meal-planning-ebook/ Maybe you have kids who are picky eaters, a family member with a food allergy, or you’re the only vegetarian in your house. This can create extra work for you, but most of the time it’s not necessary for you to cook two completely different meals. Here are tips to ease your frustration when you’ve got family members who don’t want to eat the same thing. 4 Tips for Meal Planning for Picky Eaters: Focus on the common denominator. Does everyone love pasta, tacos, or baked potatoes but not exactly the same kind? Set up a pasta, taco, or baked potato bar! Make several sauces or toppings on the side and let each person customize their own plate. Make the “disputed” ingredient on the side. Since I eat mostly vegetarian, many times I will heat up cooked, diced chicken breast in a separate small skillet for my husband. I will make our main dish vegetarian (Stir Fried Cashew & Broccoli, Cheese Ravioli with Artichoke Hearts, Veggie & Grain Bowls, etc.) and Nick can add in chicken. If you’ve got kids who only eat 3 or 4 things, meal plan those out on your calendar alongside the adult meals. See if you can at least correlate some side dishes. For example, if your kids love hot dogs and mac & cheese, make the adult meal something that will pair well with the mac & cheese. Or make the grown-up version of their meal. In this instance, maybe some gourmet sausages sautéed with green peppers and onions. Use freezer meals for the “odd man out.” Sometimes there’s a meal that everyone – except one holdout – loves. In this case, have the odd person out choose a freezer meal that they like and heat it up for them. By using the above tips, meal planning for picky eaters doesn’t have a to be so stressful! What do you do to make mealtime with picky eaters easier for your family?

As your little one gets older you start to introduce them to different foods. They may fight you on the fruits and veggies but you do begin to suspect that something they’re eating is causing them quite a bit of discomfort.

The Picky Eater is a truly unique concept because it will encompass all functions of a smart device by using the camera, Internet connection and the ability to be truly portable and fit in your pocket. The whole concept is based upon the fact that people with allergies may know what they are allergic to but not know that a variation of an ingredient they are also highly allergic too. Our product will help prevent the 2,000 hospitalizations every year and of that 150 deaths each year. This is why our product will no longer be a want but a necessity for those with allergies and anyone of their family or friends shopping for them. Picky Eater will be used primarily in the grocery store and other shopping locations. Upon first downloading the application the user will create a short profile stating what they are allergic to and what foods they want to avoid. Now upon arriving at the grocery store when a product comes into question they can quickly and easily use our application to scan the food item in question. They will line their camera up with the bar code of the product which will search Google, Amazon and other Internet UPC databases to find the product. The application will work using the Appcelerator plug in. With using this plug in it will allow us to do is build for both the iPhone and the Android market quickly and easily. We estimate the time line to launch upon receiving the database as 3 months of development. We will use the ZBar bar code SDK ontop of our Appcelerator API's to quickly build a way to scan bar codes. Upon the application receiving the specific ISBN bar code it will scan the database and find the exact nutritional information. By law the FDA enforces that all manufacturers list what specific ingredients go into their product. What this will allow us to do is use a string comparison algorithm to scan through their specific ingredients and ensure that their isn't anything our users could be allergic too. If our algorithm returns a true flag for the specific allergy our user will be sent a standard alert warning them that their could be their specific allergies in that food. Along with this, it will now offer alternatives to the product using the our database and finding foods under the same category that do not contain their allergic allergy.
