Uncontrolled diabetes can lead to damage to the nerves in your feet and the eventual lost of sensation (feeling) in your feet. Without feeling in your feet, you become unaware to minor cuts, scrapes, blisters or injury. Because you are unaware of a possible injury, this can lead to the development of more severe wounds, infection and even possible amputation of the foot or leg. This patient is a type 2 diabetic with no feeling in his feet. He works long hours on his feet and has to wear construction boots. An ill-fitting shoe lead to blister formation which eventually lead to an ulcer (wound). Here is our first appointment today in attempts to help close this potentially dangerous injury. HELLO FRIENDS WELCOME TO OUR CHANNEL !! WE WATCH TODAY CELLULITIS -SYMPTOMS & TREATMENT Cellulitis - Do Treatments Work? Symptoms What is cellulitis? It is caused by bacteria that gets in through open skin and infects the surrounding area where it came in from. The most common bacteria that cause cellulitis are called Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus. Now, you might have heard of these in the past, and that's because they're very common causes of infection. In fact, Staph is usually found in healthy skin and lungs. Chemical changes to the bacteria or its environment, that's to say your body, would cause it to develop a disease or an infection. Although a cut or scratch is the most common site for cellulitis infection, even unbroken skin can become infected. The area where the skin is infected can cause a great deal of discomfort because of its symptoms -- redness, swelling, and tenderness in the area or the area adjacent to the infected part, accompanied by fever and sometimes chills. Who are at risk? Anyone of any age can develop it. It's more commonly seen in the really young, whose immune systems are still developing, and the elderly whose immune systems are naturally less resistant to disease-causing bacteria due to age. The elderly's skin is also less intact, naturally, because of the aging process. And of course, genetics will always play a role as it does in most disease processes; anyone with a family history of chronic cellulitis may develop the condition more easily than others, and may even suffer the same repetitive condition. What causes cellulitis? People who have a tendency for poor skin integrity are also at risk. Diabetics, people who have psoriasis, people who are HIV positive, or those that suffer a chronic fungal infection are at risk for developing this skin condition if their chronic disease isn't managed well enough or if their body isn't coping well enough to fight off infection. Treatment for cellulitis? It's very important that you do not diagnose yourself. Strep and staph are very common causative agents of a wide variety of skin diseases. You must seek medical attention if you suspect that you have it. There are other medical conditions that have the same symptoms as it does, such as Lyme disease which is commonly misdiagnosed as cellulitis. This infection might also be your body hinting that you have an underlying disease that made you susceptible to it, so it's very important to see your GP. The way to find out for sure is to see a doctor who will order a bunch of diagnostic tests to confirm what's really causing the swelling, the redness, and other such symptoms. In addition, taking antibiotics without the supervision of a professional could do your body more harm than good. Depending on how bad the infection is, your doctor might strongly advise that you allow him to drain the affected area. Otherwise, managing the underlying condition, if any exist, and following an antibiotic treatment course prescribed by your doctor will make the disorder go away. For any questions regarding cellulitis, its treatment and its causes, please leave them in the comments section below. Thanks for watching and I hope the information helps. This lovely lady is the same person as we saw in the video titled, “Very Dry Brittle Nails”. Very Dry Brittle Nails - https://youtu.be/ebN0UIWVcpY This is the wound that was uncovered upon trimming of the callus. The wound was at the deep part of the callus. Diabetic wounds can occur when there is too much pressure on the skin. Where a patient carries weight on his foot, the skin may thicken and form a callus. But where a patient carries a lot of weight, but can’t feel the pressure, and can’t feel the callus, the skin at the deep part of the callus can break open and cause an ulcer, or wound. The danger here is that if the person does not feel that there is a problem, the site can become infected. Once a foot becomes infected, that can be how someone loses a toe, a foot or a leg. ||-- Product: Best Diabetic Foot Care - http://bit.ly/bestdiabetic Travel Pedicure Kit - https://amzn.to/2rK0U7O Callus Foot Cream - http://bit.ly/Urea-PurSources Ingrown Toe Nail Pain Relief Kit - https://amzn.to/2t5v9HC Bunion Sports Corrector and Splints - http://bit.ly/bunion-splints --- Miracle Foot Repair Cream - https://amzn.to/2uIkcz3 Mineral Foot Cream - https://amzn.to/2InrVVm Sof Feet Callus Reducer - https://amzn.to/2H9fI7m Sof'feet Callus Reducer Kit - https://amzn.to/2ImrDxG -- Dr Nail Nipper store - http://www.drnailnipper.com/store Website: http://www.drnailnipper.com/

Important facts about leg ulcers, what causes them, how they can be prevented and cured. http://theveincarecentre.co.uk/ 01935 873 951 https://www.facebook.com/theveincarecentre https://www.iwantgreatcare.org/doctors/dr-haroun-gajraj Leg ulcers are common -- approximately 2% of adults will have a leg ulcer at some stage in their lives. Literally thousands of people develop a leg ulcer each year in the United Kingdom and many of those get more leg ulcers as the years go by. Despite the misery they cause, leg ulcers remain a neglected problem. I am going to tell you the 7 essential facts should you know about leg ulcers. Number 1 -- What is an ulcer? The medical definition of an ulcer is a break in the epithelium of a body surface or lining. Many of us will be familiar with a mouth ulcer. This is a break in the cell lining the mouth. It can be caused by an injury such as biting the inside of the mouth by accident. Well if the skin breaks down anywhere on the body it is called an ulcer. If the ulcer is on the leg and has been present for more than 6 weeks it is called a chronic leg ulcer. Number 2- What causes a leg ulcer? Four out of 5 ulcers -- that's 80% - are caused by a problem with the leg vein pump and they are called venous ulcers. The leg vein pump is the mechanism by which blood flows out of the leg back to the heart. So problems with the deep veins such as obstruction from a deep vein thrombosis, superficial vein reflux or perforator vein problems can cause venous leg ulcers. The leg vein pump depends mainly on good ankle movement, good calf muscles and healthy leg veins. A minority of leg ulcers - about 15% - are caused by problems in the arteries that carry blood into the leg. About 95% of venous leg ulcers can be correctly identified by their appearance, by checking for pulses in the feet and by checking sensation. As most leg ulcers are venous -- that's what I am going to concentrate on. Number 3 -- Where on the leg do you get venous ulcers? Well venous leg ulcers appear on the lower part of the leg usually just about the ankle. Often, there are varicose veins or thread veins around the ulcer and the leg is usually swollen. The skin is often thickened and discoloured by varicose eczema which may actually develop many months or years before the ulcer as a warning sign that the vein circulation is not normal. Number 4 -- Who gets a venous ulcer? Well these ulcers affect people who have deep vein problems, usually from a past deep vein thrombosis (DVT), people who have superficial venous disease or those with ankle mobility problems. Leg ulcers are more common as we get older. Number 5 -- How do you treat venous ulcers? The aim of treatment is to get the ulcer healed as quickly as possible. This usually means graduated compression either with bandages or compression stockings. In most cases, antibiotics, creams and ointments are not necessary. Once the ulcer is healed it is very important to identify any problems with the superficial veins or perforator veins and that these are treated to reduce the risk of another ulcer. This means getting a full assessment with a duplex ultrasound scan. Number 6- Can you cure a leg ulcer? Well this is controversial. Some would say that if the problem is only in the superficial veins, the veins under the skin, or in the perforator veins that connect these superficial veins to the deep veins, then the ulcer can be cured. While there is good evidence that such treatment will greatly reduce the risks of getting another leg ulcer, if the skin has been very damaged and the ulcer has healed with a lot of scarring, this area of the leg may remain vulnerable and a trivial knock or injury might cause another skin breakdown even though the vein abnormality has been completely eradicated. Number 7 -- How can we avoid leg ulcers? Well there are 3 things I would suggest. Firstly, if you are unfortunate enough to suffer a deep vein thrombosis (DVT), it should be treated promptly to limit the damage to the deep veins. Unfortunately, damage to the deep veins cannot be reliably reversed by surgery. So, prompt treatment with anticoagulants -- blood thinning medication -- reduces the extent of the clot and the damage to the deep veins. Secondly, if you have had a DVT, you should consider wearing good quality medical grade compression socks -- some studies suggest that doing so may reduce the risk of leg ulcers after a big DVT. Thirdly, if you have superficial vein reflux have it treated early to reduce the chances of progression to varicose eczema which is itself a warning sign that the skin is damaged and liable to ulceration. Now I hope you have found this useful. Don't forget to subscribe to keep up to date with the latest on veins. Thank you for watching my video. http://www.theveincarecentre.co.uk/ How to Cure a leg ulcer If you have a venous leg ulcer this video will tell you what you need to know and what you need to do to get it healed. You are not alone, literally thousands of people develop a leg ulcer each year in the United Kingdom and for many people even once the leg ulcer is healed, they can come back. So they can be a recurring problem. Despite the pain, odour and disability they cause, leg ulcers remain a problem neglected by the health service. So why do you have a leg ulcer? Well 8 out of 10 leg ulcers are caused by a problem with the leg veins. The leg veins transport blood out of the leg back to the heart. So problems with the deep veins such as a blockage from a deep vein thrombosis or back flow in the superficial veins – called reflux can cause venous leg ulcers. If your leg ulcer is due to vein problems it will be just above the ankle. If you have an ulcer elsewhere, it might due to a different problem. See your doctor urgently. Often, there are varicose veins or thread veins around the ulcer and the leg is sometimes swollen. If you do have a venous leg ulcer it is very likely that the skin near the ulcer will be thickened and discoloured by varicose eczema which usually develops many months or years before the ulcer as an early warning sign that the vein circulation is not normal. Now to part you really want to know. How can you get rid of your venous ulcers? The aim of treatment should be to get the ulcer healed as quickly as possible. Don’t delay seeking help. The longer you have an ulcer, the bigger it will get and the harder it will be to cure. This usually means graduated compression either with bandages or medical compression stockings. Term Graduated means that the pressure exerted by the bandage or stocking is highest at the ankle and progressively less pressure or squeeze is exerted further up the leg. This graduated compression encourages the flow of blood in the vein in the right direction and it encourages healing. Antibiotics, creams and ointments are almost never needed. In fact they can make things worse. Once the ulcer is healed it is very important to identify underlying problem with the veins to reduce the risk of another ulcer. This means getting a full assessment with a duplex ultrasound scan to correctly identify the underlying vein problem so it can be treated. Nowadays, this is done without surgery or general anaesthetic. A number of non-invasive or non-surgical treatments for vein problems are available such as endovenous laser. So here are my top tips. Get help as soon as you have an ulcer, request treatment by compression bandages or medical socks and get the underlying vein problem diagnosed and dealt with as soon as possible. If you would like more information and help with your leg ulcer, go to our website or email us to request a free information sheet with everything you need to know about leg ulcers. firstname.lastname@example.org http://www.theveincarecentre.co.uk/co...

This patient had spilled boiling water on his lower leg a couple days before. This isn't complicated but the teaching points should focus on draining the large blistered areas and attempting to maintain moisture as long as we can so the skin doesn't contract down on itself. I opted not to film the actual dressing part but I think I'll included that with the next one so that part is clear as well.

Pat Schulkins is one of the millions of Americans with type 2 diabetes. "Oh I probably have had it around 15 years," says Pat Schulkins. She monitors her glucose, but when it came to the state of her feet, Pat was unfeeling. About half of diabetics have this side effect called neuropathy. "These patients, especially when they get really bad, lose the ability to feel their feet. So they don't know when there's a problem," says Dr. Andrew Belis, foot and ankle surgeon on staff with Lee Memorial Health System. Diabetic neuropathy is nerve damage brought on by uncontrolled blood sugar. The feet and toes are most commonly affected. The lack of sensation increases the risk of serious problems when injuries and sores go unnoticed. That's exactly what happened to Schulkins. "It was like a big blister kind of, inward though. It wasn't sticking out like a blister does," says Schulkins. By the time she noticed the ulcer on her foot, it was almost too late to save. "The ulcer was there and it was chronic and resistant to care. And we got to change courses and address the underlining bone structure, so we basically reconstructed her foot so there's not these high pressure spots where the ulcer or the bone would break through the skin," says Dr. Belis. Experts stress the importance of knowing the symptoms, which may include, tingling, burning, pain or numbness in the feet; getting annual foot exams and wearing approved diabetic shoes if needed. "Even simple things like an ingrown nail can get infected; it can get down to the bone and can risk losing the toe. You or I notice a sore or even a small cut on your foot people with diabetes have less feeling they may not notice it until two or three weeks later. By that point it could have erupted into a full blown infection," says Dr. Belis. Although she managed to side step an amputation, Schulkins will never take her feet for granted. "And I know, I never thought it would happen," says Schulkins. Early Warning Signs of Pancreatic Cancer Diabetes, especially if it comes on suddenly. Recently, the Mayo Clinic published startling research showing that 40 percent of pancreatic cancer patients had been diagnosed with diabetes one to two years before discovering they had a pancreatic tumor. Researchers believe the diabetes is caused by tumors that simply haven't been detected yet. The problem is, diabetes is very common, and the majority of diabetes isn't pancreatic cancer, so doctors are trying to develop screening tools to tell the difference. Right now, they say family history is an important clue. If you're diagnosed with diabetes that seems to come on suddenly and you have no family history of diabetes, bring this to your doctor's attention and ask for further screening for pancreatic cancer. Yellowing of the eyes or skin. Even a small pancreatic tumor can block the bile duct in the head of the pancreas, causing bile to build up. This causes jaundice. Itchy skin, palms, and soles of feet. A little-known side-effect of jaundice is itchy hands and feet. It's due to a skin reaction to the bilirubin, the yellowish brown liver chemical that causes jaundice. Lack of appetite. An Italian study found that six to eight months before being diagnosed with pancreatic tumors, patients reported a sudden drop in their appetite and a tendency to feel full after eating very little. Changes in taste. In the same Italian study, some of the patients surveyed said they'd suddenly lost their taste for coffee, wine, and smoking. In fact, they said, they felt "disgust" for the smell and taste of coffee and alcohol. Abdominal pain. Pancreatic cancer sufferers remember this pain as a gnawing pain, rather than a sharp cramp or ache, and it radiates toward the back. A characteristic clue: the pain goes away when you lean forward. An enlarged gall bladder. The same blockage of the bile duct that causes jaundice can also cause an enlarged gallbladder, as the bile builds up behind the duct. The good news is that an enlarged gallbladder can be seen on imaging tests, and it may even be possible for a doctor to feel it during a physical exam. Pale, floating, smelly stools. If a pancreatic tumor prevents digestive enzymes from reaching the intestine, the result is an inability to digest fatty foods. So you end up with loose, smelly "floaters" as a result of the excess fat. Doctors say this symptom, in particular, can be an early clue and is too often overlooked. Dark, tarry stools. Bleeding in the upper intestines causes this symptom. Sudden, unexplained weight loss. Weight loss is not always, as many people mistakenly believe, a sign of advanced cancer that's spread to the liver. It can also happen because a lack of pancreatic enzymes is causing fat to pass through the body undigested. New videos everyday! Are you suffering from diabetes? If yes, then you may encounter problems with your feet and legs. High blood sugar puts you at a higher risk for blisters, bunions, ulcers, corns, and calluses. When a person has diabetes, even minor injuries may lead to potentially disabling foot infections. High blood sugar levels damage the nerves and have a negative effect on the nervous system’s cells. This leads to a condition called diabetic neuropathy – a condition in which the foot and the leg lose sensation. Neuropathy leads to the dryness of the skin and the feet can’t receive the brain’s message to sweat. This increases the possibility of the germs to enter the body. Diabetes also causes the blood vessels to reduce in size and harden, which makes it difficult for the feet to fight that infection. To help protect your feet from such infections, you can safely and quickly make some lifestyle changes. Here are a few tips that will help you fight the infections in the best possible way: - Do Not Put Your Feet in Hot Water - Do Not Go Barefoot Anywhere - Always Keep Your Feet Dry - Maintain Good Blood Glucose Levels - Quit Smoking - Examine Your Feet Every Day Indulge in Low-impact Exercises Be smart about what kind of exercise is good for you. If you have neuropathy then jogging, jumping, hopping and bouncing is not good for your feet. You may get injured while doing such strenuous exercises. Instead, indulge in low-impact exercises like swimming and walking that do not put too much pressure on the foot. Make sure that you indulge in some kind of exercise as it is extremely important for people suffering from diabetes.

Insulin Resistance & Potassium: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1AOt... Dr. Berg talks about restless legs syndrome (RLS) and what to do about it. There are 2 main causes, one is a vitamin B1 deficiency due to lactic acidosis, and the second cause being a potassium deficiency. Dr. Berg then talks about insulin resistance and how this alone will keep your potassium from being absorbed. So the cause may be dietary but it may be an insulin problem. The other problem is stomach acid - if you do not have the acid in your stomach, you will not be able to absorb potassium from that alone. Potassium Citrate is a good remedy. How to get rid of swollen legs feet and ankles fast naturally due to fluid retention and edema. Home remedies for swollen feet. Our body can eliminate the excess fluids on its own, through urine, or sweat. However, when its function is affected, the fluid starts accumulating in the tissues, and causes swelling. The swelling is most prominent in legs, feet, ankles, hands, and sometimes even in face. This is known as peripheral edema. There are two types of edema. pitting edema, and non-pitting edema. In pitting edema, an indentation is formed, when pressured is applied on the swollen area. This indentation will persist for sometime, even after the pressure is released. The causes for pitting edema are: Sitting for too long. Congestive heart failure. High intake of Sodium. Deficiency of Potassium and magnesium. Pregnancy. Medication side effects. Wearing tight socks, etc., In non-pitting edema, indentation is not formed when pressure is applied. Non-pitting edema is caused due to disorders in lymphatic system. Non-pitting edema is more serious, and difficult to treat, than pitting edema. Whatever might be the reasons for swelling and fluid retention, you must consult your doctor, immediately. However, there are some home remedies you could take, to reduce swelling in the body. 1. Drink water. Drinking less than the recommended amount of water, which is 6-8 glasses a day, can dehydrate your body, and is very dangerous to your health. In cases of dehydration, the body tries to rehydrate itself, by taking water from different tissues, which may lead to fluid retention and other serious health problems. 2. Reduce the intake of sodium. Sodium is present in almost any of the foods we eat every day, so it’s really hard to avoid. However, consuming too much of it can cause numerous health problems, including fluid retention. 3. Avoid processed foods. Processed foods are rich in sugar and sodium, which are among the main risk factors for fluid retention, and a variety of other diseases and conditions. You must avoid processed foods as much as possible. 4. Eat potassium, and magnesium rich foods. Potassium deficiency has been linked to fluid imbalance, as well as improperly functioning organs. Magnesium is very important for our health, and we need about 200 mg of it a day. In case of these deficiencies, the body will experience fluid retention. So make sure to eat nuts, seeds, whole grains, and avocado, in order to optimize the levels of the minerals in your body. 6. Eat Vitamin B6 rich food. Lack of this vitamin, is one of the main causes of fluid retention. Eat more tuna, pistachios, bananas, chicken, and sunflower seeds, in order to resolve the problem. 7. Exercise. In order to prevent fluid retention, exercise is key. Start being physically active today, in order to keep the levels of fluids in your body regulated, and keep everything functioning properly. Go for a walk, run, or swim, and aim for 30 minutes of exercise per day 3 times a week, or more, if you have the time. 8. Elevate your legs. While sleeping, or resting, elevate your legs with a pillow, to reduce the swelling in your ankles, and prevent accumulation of fluids in your joints. 9. Don't wear tight clothes. Wearing tight clothes can impair your circulation, and cause numerous problems. Also, don't wear socks which are too tight. If you follow these tips, you may steer clear of the condition and stay healthy. About HomeYog: HomeYog is here to help you live life to the fullest. How to stop leg and foot cramps at night and why do legs cramp at night? Nocturnal leg cramps are one of the most painful problem you can experience – they occur in the middle of the night and the sharp pain can ruin your sleep, leaving you without energy and with sore leg muscles in the morning. Leg cramps are involuntary contractions of the calf muscles that usually occur overnight. They can also strike at the soles or other muscles. The cramps may last from a few seconds to a few minutes, and the intense pain is often difficult to bear. Nocturnal leg cramps affect everyone regardless of age or gender, although they’re more common in middle aged people. Although science is still unsure of the main cause, there are numerous factors that contribute towards it. Dehydration Dehydration is one of the biggest causes of nocturnal leg cramps. Proper hydration means proper body and mind function, including the contraction of muscles. If you’re not keeping properly hydrated during the day, you will experience cramps overnight. Without sufficient amounts of water, your muscles will be robbed of essential nutrients they need to work normally. Nutritional deficiencies Potassium, magnesium, calcium or sodium deficiency can definitely cause the dreaded leg cramps. All these nutrients play different vital roles in your muscles and help them contract – if the muscles are robbed of them, they will fail to work properly. Potassium works with sodium and chloride and generates electrical impulses in the nerves and muscles, while calcium generates proper muscle contractions and nerve impulses. Magnesium stabilizes the levels of adenosine triphosphate, so any of these mineral deficiencies will result in an increased risk of muscle cramps and other problems. Standing for too long Standing for prolonged periods or wearing improper footwear can overburden your muscles and increase the risk of nocturnal leg cramps. According to one study, the same factor raises the risk of varicose veins, so make sure to cut the time spent on your feet. Sitting with crossed legs or sitting for too long can also cause the condition. Pregnancy Cramps are pretty common during pregnancy, especially from the second trimester onward. They can range from mild to pretty painful and occur as a result of the increased pressure of the uterus on some nerves and reduced blood circulation in the legs. Hypothyroidism Low levels of thyroid hormones in the body are definitely a cause for concern and may lead to a number of health problems including nocturnal leg cramps. Hypothyroidism reduces the levels of calcium in the body, resulting in muscle pain, weakness and numbness as well. Low thyroid hormone levels can also cause fatigue and low metabolism, which can result in inflammation and muscle cramps. Diabetes Diabetes patients often experience nerve damage (diabetic neuropathy) in the legs which results in sharp pain and numbness. The high blood sugar levels can dehydrate your body and lead to muscle cramps – if you experience this symptom and you’re a diabetic, you should consult with your doctor immediately. A few tips that will help you prevent nocturnal leg cramps. In order to prevent the cramps from occurring, you need to stay hydrated at all times. Consuming sport drinks with electrolytes can also prevent the problem. Drinking too much coffee, or sodas can dehydrate your body and increase the risk of cramps. If a cramp woke you up in the middle of the night, massage the sore spot for 10-15 minutes. leg cramp, experiencing of cramps during middle of sleep, leg cramps, cramps from sugar, how to prevent muscle cramps at night,if your legs are sore how can how can it be feel better, jiggling legs, leg muscle cramps at night, leg, cramps, night, reason, face, cramping, fix, what causes leg cramps, leg cramps treatment, leg cramps at night, cramp, pain, home remedies for leg cramps, leg cramps remedy, muscle cramps, leg cramps while sleeping, how to stop leg cramps at night, homeyog About HomeYog: HomeYog is here to help you live life to the fullest. Varicose Eczema is not a dermatological or skin condition, it is a vascular condition caused by superficial vein reflux. It is the precursor of a leg ulcer and should be treated by a vein specialist. http://www.theveincarecentre.co.uk/ The term varicose eczema is misleading for 2 reasons. Firstly, the root cause is superficial venous reflux which can cause complications without varicose veins appearing. Secondly, the term eczema suggests that the condition is primarily a disease of the skin. In fact, it is a vascular condition that should be treated by a vascular surgeon or a veins specialist (phlebologist) rather than a dermatologist or GP. Many people with superficial venous reflux develop severe complications without a single varicose vein. Many people with severe varicose veins have very few symptoms and do not develop complications. In fact, it appears that reflux that is diverted into tributaries under the skin which then become varicose may be prevented from continuing down the leg to cause skin changes such as varicose eczema. The treatment of varicose eczema should be directed to eliminating the venous reflux rather than using steroid creams. The prolonged use of steroid creams may help with the symptoms of itch and discomfort but they will thin the skin and make it more vulnerable to injury and ulceration. The reflux can be treated by non-surgical interventions under local anaesthetic such as VNUS Closure (radiofrequency or RFA), endovenous laser (EVL or EVLT), Venaseal by Sapheon (medical superglue) or Ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy. Early treatment of varicose eczema prevents deterioration to leg ulceration. Dr Haroun Gajraj who is based in Bristol and in clinics around the SouthWest explains the significance of varicose eczema and how it should be treated. This video will give you a tip on possibly healing swollen legs, feet with diet. I'm not a doctor so consult with your physician before any changes in lifestyle. Originally I thought I was suffering from deep vein thrombosis DVT which blocks the arteries going to and from your legs and feet. UPDATE: 6/1/2015 After my feet continuing to swell for almost a year I got health insurance and went to the doctor and did an EKG, blood work, etc. & showed no signs of something wrong. I decided to go to the cardiologist and they did an echocardiogram & stress test. My heart was functioned at 100%, no enlargement, blockages, etc. However they discovered I was born with a bicuspid aortic valve. You suppose to have a tricuspid valve. Next they are going to do a CatScan to see if there is calcification of my aorta. There is probably leakage so the reason for the edema. Overall I'm happy to know what is going on.

Diabetic Foot Health - Baltimore and Lutherville, MD - Podiatrist Chanelle Carter, DPM http://www.plazapodiatry.com Podiatrist Dr. Chanelle Carter of Plaza Podiatry and Urgent FootCare Center discusses why diabetics must come in for a comprehensive foot exam to avoid the complications of diabetes. Diabetes is a lifelong chronic disease that is caused by high levels of sugar in the blood. It can also decrease your body's ability to fight off infections, which is especially harmful in your feet. When diabetes is not properly controlled, damage can occur to the organs and impairment of the immune system is also likely to occur. With damage to your nervous system, you may not be able to feel your feet properly. Normal sweat secretion and oil production that lubricates the skin of the foot is impaired, which can lead to an abnormal pressure on the skin, bones, and joints of the foot during walking and other activities. This can even lead to the breakdown of the skin of the foot, which often causes sores to develop. If you have diabetes, it is important to prevent foot problems before they occur, recognize problems early, and seek the right treatment when a problem does happen. Diabetic Complications and Your Feet When it comes to your feet, there are several risk factors that can increase your chances of developing foot problems and diabetic infections in the legs and feet. First of all, poorly fitting shoes are one of the biggest culprits of diabetic foot complications. If you have red spots, sore spots, blisters, corns, calluses, or consistent pain associated with wearing shoes, new proper fitted shoes must be obtained immediately. Additionally, if you have common foot abnormalities such as flat feet, bunions, or hammertoes, prescription shoes or orthotics from your podiatrist may be necessary to further protect your feet from other damage. People who have long-standing or poorly controlled diabetes are also at risk for having damage to the nerves in their feet, which is known in the medical community as peripheral neuropathy. If you have nerve damage, you may not be able to feel your feet normally and you may also be unable to sense the position of your feet and toes while walking and balancing, which can cause even more harm to your feet. Normal nerves allow people to sense if their shoes are too tight or if their shoes are rubbing on the feet too much. With diabetes, you may not be able to properly sense minor injuries, such as cuts, scrapes and blisters-all signs of abnormal wear, tear, and foot strain. The following can also compromise the health of your feet: • Poor circulation • Trauma to the foot • Infections • Smoking Diabetes can be extremely dangerous to your feet, so take precautions now. You can avoid serious problems such as losing a toe, foot, or leg by following proper prevention techniques offered by your podiatrist. Remember, prevention is the key to saving your feet and eliminating pain. Visit our website: http://www.plazapodiatry.com

http://bit.ly/PsoriasisYout What is Psoriasis | Symptoms | Treatments | Causes | Pictures | Types Psoriasis is a chronic skin disorder that is marked by patches of intensely itchy and flaky skin that doesn't go away with regular moisturizers the way most ordinary dry skin will. It can affect any part of the body, even the scalp and nails, and can be mild, moderate or severe. Health Mayo clinic what is psoriasis | symptoms | treatments | causes | pictures | types The National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) is a non-profit organization with a mission to drive efforts to cure psoriatic disease and improve the lives of those affected.Psoriasis - Mayo Clinic Basic Symptoms Skin itchiness and general discomfort are the two things people most commonly associate with the disease, and it often starts out as no more than brief rashes over certain parts of the body that look like little more than dry skin. As the pictures worsens, though, those dry patches tend to get increasingly red and to grow; ultimately, the surface of the skin will dry out and form rough scales that often have a blistered look. Main Types There are usually five recognized types of the disorder, each with its own intensity and symptom specifications. Plaque psoriasis causes red, silvery-white, scaly skin lesions, and this is the most common variety. The pictures can also come in pustular form, which causes blisters to erupt on the skin that can leak pus or other fluids. This variation is most common on the hands and feet. Triggers and Causes The pictures is caused by genes, and is usually recognized by those in the medical profession as an inherited genetic disorder. Not everyone who carries the genes for the disorder will necessarily suffer from it, Climate and weather, cold and dry temperatures in particular, can trigger the disease in many people. Physical trauma can also be to blame. Psoriatic lesions often develop at the site of a skin injury, usually right where things are healing and the skin is trying to regenerate itself. Most practitioners also think that stress and emotional health play a role in symptom suppression and flare-ups. People who are under a great deal of stress often see the pictures appear for the first time, or worsen if it is already present. Treatment Options There isn't usually any way to completely cure the pictures, insofar as it is not medically possible to re-code peoples' genetic predispositions. Certain medications and treatment regimens can help keep flare-ups suppressed, though, and can dramatically alter patients' quality of and enjoyment of life. Skincare experts usually start by looking for ways to reduce triggers. Medicated creams and ointments are commonly prescribed, and in some cases UV light therapy, also known as "phototherapy," can be useful, particularly for people who live in relatively dark and cold climates or who spend most of their days indoors away from natural sunlight.
