I felt I needed to make a video to focus on the extremely common issues folks run into with this American Bully Breed. This is what Bailey and Dorian have at this moment. As of right now they are doing better but Bailey Still has her lil Irritation spots. Now this can be prevented if caught early. I never seen a hot spot so I thought it was a lil bit Bailey gave him while they were rough housing. It starts small and grows if its not attended to properly. Please Please you guys keep an eye on your bullies and try checking their skin everyday. These hot summer months bring a lot of this around and I feel bad because I wasn't educated enough to see the signs. I hope this video helps you guys see the results and the signs to help prevent the problem. If it does happen take them to the vet right away and get them seen to make sure it is just a irritation or a hot spot. P.S im doing everything I can to get them looking perfect again and it seems to be working hah they do miss spending along time outside like usual but its for their own good. [: THANKS FOR WATCHING!!

top 10 Skin Problems in Dogs. 1. Dog Skin Problems. The sound of a dog constantly scratching or licking can be as irritating as nails on a chalkboard. But don’t blame your pooch for these bad habits -- a skin condition is probably the culprit. Possible causes range from parasites to allergies to underlying illness. Solution Provider has compiled images of some of the most common canine skin problems. 2. Allergic Dermatitis. Dogs can have allergic reactions to grooming products, food, and environmental irritants, such as pollen or insect bites. A dog with allergies may scratch relentlessly, and a peek at the skin often reveals an ugly rash. Corticosteroids can help with itchy rashes, but the most effective treatment is to identify and avoid exposure to the allergens. 3. Yeast Infection. If your dog can't seem to stop scratching an ear or licking and chewing her toes, ask your veterinarian to check for a yeast infection. Symptoms include irritated, itchy, or discolored skin. The infection usually strikes the paws or ears, where yeast has a cozy space to grow. Yeast infections are easy to diagnose and often respond well to a topical cream. In some cases, your veterinarian may prescribe oral drugs or medicated baths. 4. Folliculitis. Superficial bacterial folliculitis is an infection that causes sores, bumps, and scabs on the skin. These skin abnormalities are easier to see in shorthaired dogs. In longhaired dogs, the most obvious symptoms may be a dull coat and shedding with scaly skin underneath. Folliculitis often occurs in conjunction with other skin problems, such as mange, allergies, or injury. Treatment may include oral antibiotics and antibacterial ointments or shampoos. 5. Impetigo. Another type of bacterial infection, impetigo is most common in puppies. It causes pus-filled blisters that may break and crust over. The blisters usually develop on the hairless portion of the abdomen. Impetigo is rarely serious and can be treated with a topical solution. In a small number of cases, the infection may spread or persist. 6. Seborrhea. Seborrhea causes a dog's skin to become greasy and develop scales (dandruff). In some cases, it's a genetic disease that begins when a dog is young and lasts a lifetime. But most dogs with seborrhea develop the scaling as a complication of another medical problem, such as allergies or hormonal abnormalities. In these cases, it is vital to treat the underlying cause so symptoms do not recur. 7. Ringworm. Despite its name, ringworm is not caused by a worm, but by a fungus. The term "ring" comes from the circular patches that can form anywhere, but are often found on a dog's head, paws, ears, and forelegs. Inflammation, scaly patches, and hair loss often surround the lesions. Puppies less than a year old are the most susceptible, and the infection can spread quickly between dogs in a kennel or to pet owners at home. Various anti-fungal treatments are available. 8. Shedding and Hair Loss (Alopecia). Anyone who shares their home with dogs knows that they shed. How much shedding is normal depends on breed, time of year, and environment. But sometimes stress, poor nutrition, or illness can cause a dog to lose more hair than usual. If abnormal or excessive shedding persists for more than a week, or you notice patches of missing fur, check with your veterinarian. 9. Mange (Mites). Mange is a skin disorder caused by tiny parasites called mites. Sarcoptic mange, also known as canine scabies, spreads easily among dogs and can also be transmitted to people, but the parasites don't survive on humans. The symptoms are intense itching, red skin, sores, and hair loss. A dog's ears, face and legs are most commonly affected. Demodectic mange can cause bald spots, scabbing, and sores, but it is not contagious between animals or people. Treatment depends on the type of mange. 10. Fleas. Fleas are the bane of any pet owner. You may not see the tiny insects themselves, but flea droppings or eggs are usually visible in a dog's coat. Other symptoms include excessive licking or scratching, scabs, and hot spots. Severe flea infestations can cause blood loss and anemia, and even expose your dog to other parasites, such as tapeworms. Treatment may include a topical and/or oral flea killer and a thorough cleaning of the pet's home and yard.

PIT BULL DERMATITIS ...(video was recorded 01-Sept-2016)....I could not figure out why all of these swarming flies were in my dog's kennel....but the reason was simple....they were attracted to the Cooked Meat Grease from the meals I was feeding "EZ".....he had been dealing with a Smelly Yeast Skin Rash for about 1-year, and besides trying RX-medications like Prednisone and Cephalexin and medicated RX-shampoos, I tried feeding "EZ" hamburger & rice as his sole food source for just a couple of days....But the heavy grease from the cooked meat attracted hundreds-of-flies to his kennel, as illustrated in this video....This was the last day I fed the cooked meat to "EZ" and the flies stopped bothering him....His Veterinarian did a Full-Blood-Panel test, and discovered that "EZ" was HYPO-THYROID...(low thyroid hormone production)...and he is now taking a daily dose of .6-mg of Thyroxine....His skin is almost completely normal....."EZ" is a 7-year-old Pit Bull Mix, and one-of-three Pit Bull Mix Brothers that were wandering the streets in Buda-TX, at about 3-months-of-age back in the Summer of 2011.....I rescued all-3-puppies.....I have been rescuing dogs & cats for 27-years....I have posted several videos of Veterinary Visits on my YouTube homepage....here is a link. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoTieitEXbTIztVv4414n8Q?view_as=subscriber

The parasites, a source of problems for the dog's skin. Fleas that itch the dog provoke an itch that results in a compulsive scratching that causes an irritation in the skin called allergic dermatitis by flea bite. Therefore, it is essential to keep these parasites at bay with specific and effective products for dogs, which are also respectful of the animal's skin. 2. Allergic dog skin problems. The kitchen is one of the places in the house where dogs, especially if they are puppies, can suffer accidents that cause burns, cuts and blows that affect the skin. Therefore, they require specific treatment, depending on the case and degree of severity that the veterinarian determines. 5. Internal diseases affect canine skin. Demodicosis also known as Demodeccia, Demodicosis or red mange is an inflammatory disease of the skin caused by a mite Demodex canis is called, it is shaped cigar or cigarette with four pairs of legs. This type of condition begins to reproduce excessively and abnormally when they lower the defenses of the animal by stress, infectious diseases, cancer, malnutrition, lack of cleanliness, hormonal diseases like Hypothyroidism, teething in puppies, zeal in females, change or molting fur, etc. The demodectic mange is not contagious, the Demodex passes from the patient or surrogate of the demodeccia puppies contact at the time of birth and in the early days of breastfeeding, this is the only time in which the disease is spread from one animal to another. Dog Allergy Symptoms - as part of the series on dogs and pets by GeoBeats. Hello, my name is Dr. Carolyn Quagliata. I am the owner and founder of City Pet Doctor. I am here to talk about the most common allergies in dogs. The first is food allergies. Food allergies in dogs manifest as vomiting, diarrhea and lack of appetite. Dogs are actually allergic to the protein source in the food, so usually it is a specific type of meat whether it be chicken, beef, fish, venison, rabbit: the list goes on. The second is seasonal allergies also known as atopy. These dogs present as having very itchy skin, red skin. A lot of times they will lose their hair and they also get secondary infections. Usually it is a result of certain types of pollen that accumulate in the air at that time. The third is flea allergies. The name speaks for itself but these allergies present very similar to the seasonal allergies or atopy. The important thing to keep in mind is that an allergic dog can have a combination of all the types of allergies that I listed. For example, they can be food allergic and also have atopy. So the important thing is that if your dog is experiencing any chronic symptoms whether it be vomiting, diarrhea, itchy skin or red skin make sure you talk to your Vet and so that your dog can get treated and be much more comfortable.
