UPDATE: After 7 years, I no longer eat vegan. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and introduced animal products back into my diet to help with energy and hormone production. I will leave this video up in case it is beneficial to others. A health scare with high cholesterol made me think differently about the foods I was putting into my body. Our best man introduced me to the China Study and after that, I adopted a vegan plant based diet. Little did I know, my cholesterol levels dropped significantly and I am no longer being threatened with taking medication. With a vegan diet, I have beat my genetics and no longer face high cholesterol. Welcome to Seeking Finding Heart! Are you ready to make the changes necessary in your life to attain the goals you desire? Look at your own health in an objective way, don't worry about what others may say, follow your heart and be honest with yourself. Rememebr that high carb low fat vegan diet is where it is at. Eating 80% of your total calories for the day are coming from carbs, 10% or less from fats, and 10% or less from protein. This vegan diet is the optimal diet for humans and is proven to work. You don't have to have a lot of money to eat an 80/10/10 diet. Eating healthy aka eating a high carb raw vegan diet will get you healthy in no time and having the weight just melt off of you! It is easy to eat healthy when you don't have a lot of money. Basically eat until you are full whilst also making sure you get enough cals. So in other words being objective about how many cals you are getting is critical to realizing how much you need to eat, generally how much more you need to eat. This means that you may be full eating a veggie sandwich that you get from a vegan cafe. That's because the veggies are coated in fat (oil) and the sammy was drenched in more fat. So if we look at the profile of a human stomach and we see 200 cals worth of oil, it only takes up a small portion of the stomach, whereas 200 cal from, say, mango, will take up far more room because it is a complete food full of fibre, water, etc. The oil is devoid of these things and is a pure, refined fat which is extremely hard for the body to use, so it just throws it in your ass, gut, thighs, etc. I just say unlimited so that people get out of this calorie phobic, carbohydrate phobic mindset that is perpetuated though the mainstream media. For a typical human they need no less than 3000 cals a day, I always say if you are an olympic athlete you need to eat more, if you are a mom with 3 kids, you need to eat more. If you have a stressful job and commute, you need to eat more; life is a sport and if you want to live a passionate life, drug free, energy filled, and disease free, then you need to eat more, more fruits, vegetables, and leafy greens. If you want something, you will always find a way. If you don't want something, you will always find an excuse. Any and all excuses stem from a lack of desire and any and all great accomplishments stem from a great desire. Well said, Ted. If you want it, go get it! Sleep Water Sugar The three elements to healthy living Just some quick tips and tricks on the high carb low fat vegan diet. When I started out on the high carb vegan diet I was pretty lost without any guidance. So here I am to show you that it is not only possible but definitely certain that you will get slim and your optimal size on a high carb vegan diet. Bring on the carbs and lay off the fat because a high carb low fat diet is where it's at! 1) Lose the animal fat and protein and get off the cow nipple 2) Eat as many ripe, juicy, organic fruit as you possibly can, I do! 3) Make sure you are getting enough calories, about 10g of carbs per kilo of body weight 4) Get some blood work so you can see (after eating right for a while) if you are lacking any nutrient 5) Supplement only on a case by case basis and never longterm FAIR USE NOTICE: This video may contain copyrighted material. Say Goodbye Cholesterol With This 8 Foods That Lower Cholesterol

Therefore, it is recommended that they lose some weight to help reduce their cholesterol level. To help keep cholesterol low, it is important to eat a healthy diet that is low in unsaturated fat. However, cholesterol levels can be reduced when you include the following super 8 foods that lower cholesterol. 1. Oats: Having a bowl of oatmeal or oat-based cereal for breakfast is an easy first step to improving your cholesterol. It provides you with 1g to 2g of soluble fiber and an extra 0.5g each if you add a banana or some strawberries. The daily recommendation for fiber is 20 to 30 grams with 5 to 10 grams obtained from soluble fiber. 2. Barley and other whole grains: These assist in lowering the risk of cardiovascular diseases, just like oats and oat bran, mostly through their supply of soluble fiber. 3. Nuts: Nuts are rich in fiber, vegetable protein, healthy fats, vitamin E, potassium, magnesium, natural plant sterols and many other plant nutrients that are beneficial. Taking about 30-35g of nuts daily could lower cholesterol by up to 5%. 4. Beans and Other Legumes: Beans, lentils, peas and peanuts are also super sources of soluble fiber. According to a study published in The Journal of Nutrition (November 2007), it was discovered that eating half a cup of cooked dried pinto beans (2 grams of soluble fiber) every day for 12 weeks consistently decreased LDL cholesterol by almost 7%. 5. Soy: Soy is another super food that is high in fiber, low in saturated fat and free of cholesterol. It is the only complete plant-based protein, which implies that it’s an equal swap for animal sources like meat and dairy. Substituting foods that are high in saturated fat with daily Soy intake has the ability to lower LDL cholesterol by almost 8 to 10% - according to a study published in The Journal of Nutrition (2010). 6. Vegetable oils: Another way to reduce cholesterol is by cooking with liquid vegetable oils such as sunflower, canola, safflower and others instead of butter or lard. 7. Citrus fruits, Grapes, Apples and Strawberries: These fruits are very rich in pectin, a type of soluble fiber that helps lower LDL. 8. Avocados: Avocados contain monounsaturated fats that help in lowering LDL and increasing HDL, most especially in persons with mildly elevated cholesterol. Add a few slices of avocados to salads and sandwiches, or mash with garlic, salsa and lemon juice for a great guacamole. There are many other foods that lower cholesterol levels but these eight are a good place to start if you are dedicated to forming eating habits that are healthy. Generally, stay away from unsaturated fats and eat more of fiber, Omega-3 and monounsaturated fats, - doing this will definitely help improve your cholesterol level. Beware Of The Vegan With Eggs Scam

#askgojiman Vegan with eggs: my mum who has type 2 diabetes keeps chickens in the backyard and eats their eggs regularly and says the chickens have a wonderful life and eating their eggs a few times a week doesn’t make her not vegan. Do you have any evidence that eating these eggs will be doing her health no good and what are your thoughts on vegans with eggs which seems to be talked about a lot now? Great question Alice, lets get to it, roll the titles. Welcome back its good to see you all again. If we haven’t met before then I’m goji man. Im currently finishing a masters in nutrition and qualifying as a nutritionist and next year I’m doing a phd in nutritional science. I do daily videos in which I answer your health and nutrition questions under the # ask goji man. So if you have a question for me then #askgojiman in the comments below and I will pick one of these for my next video. So without further ado to the question. So question of the day. Apparently veggan is actually a thing. Vegans who keep chickens in their backyards and eat their eggs. Are these people actually vegan. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. So the first thing I will say in response to your question Alice is that eggs are the most concentrated source of cholesterol in western type diets. But as you allude to your mum eats predominantly vegan plant based so how much harm will eating these eggs 2-3 times a week actually do to her health, her cholesterol levels and her risk of having a heart attack? Now you will probably have heard people like dr greger say that eating eggs is comparable to smoking in its connection to atherosclerosis. But is this comparison a fair reflection of what the scientific data tells us? Or is this plant based drs simply being sensationalist. So lets jump into it. So there are lots of studies that have analysed cholesterol intake, its impact on blood cholesterol and the subsequent heart attack risks. And the evidence clearly points to the fact that dietary cholesterol elevates LDL cholesterol (the bad type of cholesterol). Meta-analysis studies that have analysed lots of different studies also clearly show when eating eggs the dietary cholesterol increases the ratio of total cholesterol to HDL. So what this effectively means is that eating eggs increases the risk of cardiovascular disease. And the science is unquestionable in this area. The researchers in this meta-analysis study showed that 3-4 eggs per week would increase the total cholesterol to HDL ratio that would effectively mean that a person would have a 2.1% increased risk of having a heart attack. Now your probably thinking 2.1% that is a very small risk for 3-4 eggs per week. But these type of studies were simply showing increased risk for those already eating high amounts of animal products. So what about if a person was vegan, like Alices much and strayed into eating eggs a few times a week. So here the risk is a lot more substantial and is very much dependant on how many eggs are being consumed a week. So for example this study that looked at this very topic showed that eating one egg a day increased your risk of premature death by 23%. So you can see alice if your mum is eating 2-3 eggs 3 times a week then she is at a significant risk of developing heart disease and having a subsequent risk. And if her arteries were already furred from eating a standard diet western diet before she started to transition to a more plant based diet then her risk factors would be further increased. And for Alices mum who has already got type 2 diabetes, eating eggs multiple times a week doubles her risk of having a heart attack. And this has been replicated in many studies such as the harvard nurses study that you often heart dr greger talking about as well as other large studies such as The Heath Professionals Follow up study and the Physicians Health Study. And a recent study from Greece also demonstrated that there there was a 5 times risk of having death from heart attacks for diabetics who were consuming one of more eggs a day. So what all the data and evidence shows is that there is a significant increased risk of having a heart attack from eating eggs a few times a week and if you have diabetes and you continue to to regularly eat eggs then you are really getting into hot water. And for those who don’t have type 2 diabetes and eat eggs regularly they have a significant risk of developing type 2 diabetes as well as developing prostate cancer in men. So going back to dr greger and his comparison of eating eggs to smoking. So in America, 400,000 people a year die from smoking and of these 133,000 are a direct result from smoking causing heart disease. So is fair to compare eggs eatings with smoking in terms of heart disease? Well yes according to these types of studies that have used ultrasound to measure artery plaque levels in both smokers, non smokers and those who eat eggs. The researchers clearly found regular...
