Meal prep on a budget! All meals are really cheap and healthy. They are really delicious too. Definitely possible to stay healthy and also eat yummy food while you're on a budget. Hope you find this video helpful! Don't forget to subscribe and thumbs up the video! ☆ Breakfast ☆ Peanut Butter and Jelly Oats Bar ☆ 1.5 cup of rolled oats 200-250g of Peanut Butter (Depends on how much peanut butter you like) 1 cup of Almond Milk 3-5 Tablespoons of Maple Syrup. 3 Tablespoons may not be sweet enough for some! :D 1 teaspoon of Cinnamon Powder 1/8 Teaspoon of salt if your peanut butter doesn't have any added salt 140g of Strawberry/Grape/Blueberry Jam 1 egg 1/2 teaspoon of Baking Powder (I've also excluded coconut oil in this recipe. You can add a tablespoon if you wish to) Mix all the wet ingredients together then add the dry ingredients. Mix it well and pour it in a tin. Then add some jam! You can add as much jam as you like, or as little as you like. ☆ Lunch ☆ Tuna Salad - $2 per serving ☆ 1 can of chickpeas 2-3 Capsicums (Bell Peppers) 2 Carrots Tomatoes Sundried Tomatoes 1 can of Tuna (450g) Salt Pepper Paprika Olive oil Mix tuna with two tablespoons of olive oil, some salt, pepper and paprika. I added quite a lot of paprika cause I like it. Adjust to you liking! Sundried tomatoes is the key for this meal (IMO). The salad is super tasty with it but sundried tomatoes are not the cheapest option. I would be using some sort of dressings I didn't add that so it's fine! :) ☆ Dinner ☆ Chicken and Rice - Less than $2 per serving ☆ Cook a cup of brown rice with 2 cups of water for around 30 minutes For the chicken part: 800g of Chicken Thigh 1/2 An onion 2 cloves of garlic Paprika Cayenne Pepper Oregano Salt Pepper Cook the onions and garlics first. Add some paprika and cayenne pepper. Then add the chicken! Now add more paprika if you wish to, oregano, salt and pepper. I just eyeball it. It doesn't have to be super precise. Once the chicken is nice and brown, add a can of tomatoes. Then let it cook for around 30 minutes for the liquid to evaporate. Cook some broccoli in the mean time! You can boil or stir fry it. HELLO GUYS so today's video is really exciting to me!!!!!! so exciting I decided to upload it early and give yall four vids again this week ;) I know firsthand how hard it is to eat healthy in college, cook for yourself, get groceries on a tight budget, and find the time to cook 5-7 nights a week and meal plan. I struggled HARD with it my first week of sophomore year. I dove in and figured out a routine for myself after struggling for a while and I have it down pat now!! In this video I give you all my "routine" for meal planning, and give you all lots of tips on finding healthy meals at affordable prices. Using hands, shape meatballs & place on parchment lined baking sheet. Bake at 375ºF for 25-30 min, or until golden & cooked through. Glaze with remaining hoisin sauce Red Cabbage & Carrot Slaw 1 small red cabbage, shredded 4 carrots, julienned or shredded ½ red onion, diced 3 tbsp olive oil 3 tbsp white wine vinegar 1 tbsp honey Salt & pepper In a large bowl, mix together cabbage, carrots & onion. Season with oil, vinegar, honey & salt & pepper Brown rice Lime & Cilantro garnish Menu 2 Fajita Chicken 2 red bell pepper, sliced 2 orange bell pepper, sliced 1 red onion, sliced 4 chicken breasts, cut into strips 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tbsp chili powder 1 tsp cumin 1 tsp paprika 1 tsp onion powder ½ tsp dried oregano Salt & pepper Oil In a small bowl, whisk together spices & set aside. In a large pan over med-high heat, add peppers, onion & chicken. Season with spices. Cook, stirring occasionally until cooked through. Black Bean & Corn Salsa 1 can black beans, rinsed and drained 1 cup corn kernels, cooked 1 red pepper, diced ½ red onion, diced 1 lime, zest and juice 1 tsp chili powder ¼ cup cilantro, chopped Salt & pepper Cilantro Lime Rice 1 cup white rice 2 cups water 1 garlic clove, minced 2 limes, zest and juice ¼ cup cilantro, chopped Salt & pepper In a medium saucepan, bring rice, water & garlic to a boil over med-high heat. Reduce to low, cover & simmer for 10 min. Turn off heat & let rest, covered, for 5 min. Stir in lime juice & cilantro. Menu 3 Greek Chicken 4 chicken breasts ½ lemon, zest and juice 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp dried oregano Salt & pepper Place chicken on nonstick or parchment lined baking sheet. Season with lemon zest & juice, garlic powder, oregano, & salt & pepper. Bake at 375ºF for 15-20 min, or until chicken is cooked through Cucumber & Tomatoes with Feta 2 cups cucumber, diced 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved ½ cup feta, crumbled 2 tbsp dill, chopped 1 tsp greek seasoning 3 tbsp oil 2 tbsp red wine vinegar Salt & pepper Tzatziki 1 cup plain Greek yogurt 1 cucumber 1-2 garlic cloves, grated ½ lemon, zest and juice ¼ cup dill, chopped Salt & pepper Peel, seed & grate cucumber. Using a clean kitchen towel, squeeze out excess water. In a med bowl, combine greek yogurt, cucumber, garlic, lemon zest & juice, dill & salt & pepper Cooked Quinoa Menu 4 Lemon Dill Salmon 4 6oz salmon fillets 1 tsp garlic powder 2 tbsp dill, chopped Salt & pepper to taste. 1 lemon, sliced (with rind on) Season salmon with dill & salt and pepper to taste. Place on nonstick or parchment lined baking sheet & top with lemon slices. Bake at 375ºF for 10-12 min, or until salmon is cooked through. Steamed Broccoli & Asparagus 1 bunch asparagus, trimmed & cut into thirds 1 broccoli crown, cut into florets Heat 1 inch of water in a large pot. Combine veggies in a steamer basket. Steam for 5-7 min or until vegetables turn bright green but still retain some of their crispness. Run under cool water to prevent further cooking White Rice with Parsley 1 cup white rice 2 cups water 1 garlic clove, grated Salt & pepper ¼ cup parsley, chopped ½ lemon, juiced In a med saucepan, bring rice & water to a boil over med-high heat. Reduce to low, cover & simmer for 10 min. Turn off heat and let rest, covered, for 5 min. Stir in garlic, parsley & lemon juice. Season with salt & pepper Menu 5 Garlic Shrimp 1lb shrimp, peeled 3 garlic cloves, minced ¼ tsp chili flakes (optional) Salt & pepper oil In a large skillet over med-high heat add oil. Add shrimp & cook for 2-3 min. Add garlic & season with salt & pepper to taste. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally until shrimp is cooked through. Green Beans 2 lbs green beans, tips removed In a large pot with 1 inch of water & a steamer basket, bring to a boil. Add beans to basket and cover. Cook for 5-7 min, or until beans are cooked to your liking. Run under cold water to stop cooking Chinese Fried Quinoa 2 cups quinoa, cooked 1 small onion, diced 1 garlic clove, minced 1 cup frozen peas and carrots 2 eggs, beaten (optional) 1-2 tbsp soy sauce oil In a large wok or skillet, heat oil over high heat. Add onion & carrots & cook for 3-4 min. Add peas, carrots & garlic & cook for another min. Push veggies to one side of the pan and scramble eggs on the opposite side. Lowest Budget Muscle Building Diet plan for Students, Maintain healthy diet while living in hostel or PG, Full day of eating Indian bodybuilding diet for students living in hostel and PG. A low budget bodybuilding diet plan for students living in hostel or PG. In this video, I am going to share a muscle building diet plan for students who are living in hostel or PG. Now, I have been living away from my home for over 11 years now. And in these 11 years, I have lived in various hostels and PGs. So I assure that all the meals that we are going to discuss today are very much practical in hostel or PG life. Moreover, I completely understand that in student life, we do not have a lot of money to spend on diet. Taking this into consideration, this diet plan is very low in budget yet it is perfect for muscle building. I have shared with you the cost breakup of each meal and at the end of this video, I have shared the monthly budget. MEAL 1 - BREAKFAST When I was in hostel for breakfast we used to get aloo puri, bhature chhole, paranthas, dosas and all that oily stuff. I would suggest you to avoid it. Along with this I am quite sure that you would be getting one glass of milk. So, we will be using this milk to make a well balanced and a tasty oatmeal. MEAL 2 - MID MORNING SNACK This is that point of the time, when you are busy attending classes and you would want to have something which is very easy to carry. So, I would suggest you to have 50 grams of bhuna chana along with one handful of unsalted roasted peanuts. These are two things which are very easily available in the Indian market. Together, they form a great combination of complex carbohydrates, protein and healthy fats. MEAL 3 - LUNCH Whenever we go to the hostel mess, the table is set in such a way that there is rice, chapati, dal, curry, curd and salad. Eating in a hostel mess is all about making the smart choices. MEAL 4 - PRE WORKOUT MEAL For pre workout meal we need a lot of carbohydrates so that we stay energised throughout the workout. And also, a little bit of protein. So, I will give you three options. You take your pick. MEAL 5 - POST WORKOUT MEAL Post workout meal is one of the most important meals of the day. I would suggest you to have 6 egg whites along with two bananas. Egg whites because it is a fast digesting lean source of protein. And bananas help replenish the glycogen and prevent muscle soreness. MEAL 6 - DINNER For dinner, when we go to the mess, we see that the food options on the table are similar to the way they were in lunch. Again, the trick is to choose the best and leave the rest. MEAL 7 - BEFORE BED MEAL Before bed meal is very important specially living in hostels because we don’t have this habit of sleeping early. So friends, I hope you found this video helpful. Since the best vegetables are the ones you will actually eat, taste should be the defining factor when you decide on a cooking method. The best way to get the most out of your vegetables is to enjoy them a variety of ways -- raw, steamed, boiled, baked and grilled. Lacking consistency with your nutrition is the fastest way to fall out of shape, especially when you get hit with any of life’s surprises. All too often, it may seem that life gets in the way of you and your six pack. I get it, I understand. But if you are going to let that cave in your health, you will likely not be healthy enough to help those that need you the most. In this video, I reveal a few things going on in my personal life that would normally make it impossible for me to get my workouts in, eat healthy and maintain a healthy lifestyle. That said, I understand that I must be strong if I am going to be able to be strong for those that need me. Sure, it requires me to get up earlier than I would like to. It requires me to workout with less equipment than I would normally like to. It requires me to train with less time than I would normally allot. But I still get the job done. My meal plan prep relies on finding ways to manage the three choices that we all have, those being good, fast and cheap. If you want anything in life you must realize that you can only choose two of these options. I chose good and fast, at the expense of cheap. By using the catering menu at local health food grocery stores however, you will be surprised at just how much money you can save over the normally priced healthy food options. For instance, if you shop at Whole Foods you can buy a great meal that includes grilled fish or chicken, asparagus, sweet potatoes and grilled veggies. You will likely pay a pretty penny to have that though. On the other hand, if you hit the less publicized catering menu you can order your already prepared healthy food in bulk. Don’t worry if you can’t eat it all in one sitting, after all it’s bought in bulk, you shouldn’t be eating it all at once! Realize that you can freeze pretty much any of it without sacrificing it’s quality or freshness. Almost every cooked food can be frozen (some with differing times). Refer to any online resource to determine how long your favorite foods can be frozen and you’ll be surprised at just how much more flexible your meal plan prep can become in even the toughest and tightest of times. Place sweet potato on a parchment lined baking sheet. Drizzle with oil & season with smoked paprika, rosemary & salt & pepper to taste. Bake until sweet potatoes have softened & are lightly golden, about 20 to 25 min. Easy Egg Frittatas Servings: 3 Cal: 420 Asparagus Mini Frittatas 6 large eggs 2 Tbsps 2% milk 1 cup lightly steamed chopped asparagus 1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese 1 Tbsp chopped chives Sea salt & freshly cracked black pepper Preheat oven to 375ºF. In a large bowl or measuring cup, whisk together eggs & milk. Season with salt & pepper to taste. Set aside. Line or grease a 6-cup muffin tin. Divide asparagus, swiss cheese & chives evenly between muffin cups. Fill each muffin cup with egg mixture. Bake until eggs have set & tops are lightly golden, about 15 to 20 min. Salad 3 cup arugula 1 cup diced cucumber 1 cup halved cherry tomatoes 1/4 cup sliced red onion 1/4 cup white wine vinaigrette Sides 1/2 cup cubed cheddar cheese Baked Oatmeal & Apple Chips Servings: 4 Cal: 599 Banana Nut Baked Oatmeal 1/2 cup mashed banana 1 1/2 cups old fashioned rolled oats 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 1 tsps baking powder 1 tsp vanilla extract 1/2 cup 2% milk 1 egg 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans Preheat oven to 375ºF & line or grease a 12 cup muffin tin. Set aside. In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients together. Scoop batter into prepared muffin tin. Bake until mixture has completely set & is lightly golden, about 30 min. Apple Chips 5 apple, thinly sliced 1 tsp ground cinnamon Preheat oven to 225ºF. Arrange apple slices on a parchment lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake until apples begin to dehydrate, about 1 to 2 hours. Flip apples & continue to bake until they are completely crisp. Sides 1 cup trail mix Protein-Packed Parfait Servings: 1 Cal: 571 Parfait Ingredients 1 cup vanilla Greek yogurt 2 Tbsps chopped almonds Quinoa Salad 1/2 cup cooked quinoa 1/2 cup mixed berries 1 tsp chia seeds 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon 1 tsp maple syrup In a large bowl, toss together quinoa, mixed berries, chia seeds, cinnamon & maple syrup. Vegan Tofu Scramble Servings: 1 Cal: 413 Tofu Scramble 1 Tbsp olive oil 1/4 cup diced red pepper 1/4 cup small broccoli florets 1 cup crumbled extra firm tofu 1/2 tsp ground turmeric 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/8 tsp red pepper flakes (optional) 1 tsp soy sauce 1 green onion, sliced Sea salt & freshly cracked black pepper Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Roasted Potatoes 1 cup quartered baby potatoes 1 tsp olive oil 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp fresh thyme Sea salt & freshly cracked black pepper Preheat oven to 400ºF. Place potatoes onto a parchment lined baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil & sprinkle with garlic powder, thyme, salt & pepper.
