Genes Identified In Early-Onset Juvenile Pancreatitis

00:50
Seattle researchers say early-onset pancreatitis in children is significantly associated with certain genetic mutations and family history. According to UPI, pancreatitis occurs when the pancreas becomes inflamed and internal enzymes irritate and damage the pancreas itself. Rarely found in children, the number of cases are on the rise. In fact, children are now as susceptible to the disease almost as much as adults. Researchers found the two most common genetic mutations were cationic trypsinogen, or PRSS1, and chymotrypsin C, or CTRC. http://www.upi.com/Health_News/2017/05/10/Genetics-linked-to-early-onset-pancreatitis-in-children/8161494440776/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com

Potential of telemedicine technologies to increase access to health services to remote, rural communities around the world. Dr. Chigurupati works with SANA, a company that offers open source data collection and collaboration platforms for clinical research and evidence-based health care delivery for underserved rural populations. Dr. Chigurupati has focused on telemedicine and mHealth initiatives in the developing world, including mobile clinical decision support tools (for both non-professional health workers and non-specialist health professionals) enabling better access to health care for people living in remote areas. Based in San Francisco, Dr. Chigurupati is a faculty member at the University of California, San Francisco, and an attending surgeon at the UCSF Children's Hospital, Moffitt Medical Center and San Francisco General Hospital. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxChapelHill, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxChapelHill event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized. TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences, TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Project and TED Conversations, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize. TEDx was created in the spirit of TED's mission, and is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. At TEDx events, a screening of TEDTalks videos—or a combination of live presenters and TEDTalks videos—sparks deep conversation and connections. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis.
