Acid Reflux (DERD) caused by drugs: Zantac and Prilosec. Explained

02:35
Acid Reflux (DERD) caused by drugs: Zantac and Prilosec. Explained. Often patients tell me that the acid reflux medication does not work for them. GERD/Acid Reflux does not get better or even can get worth on Zantac or Prilosec. Why? Zantac belongs to category of H2 blockers and blocks production of HCL in the stomach. its older drug, been on the market for about 20 years and we believe has fewer side effects. Prilosec is in the group of PPIs (proton pump inhibitors )together with Nexium, Prevacid. They block production on H+ by inhibiting H+ pump mechanism, part of HCL (Hydrochloric Acid) production. PPIs considered to be stronger medications. Zantac, Prilosec, Nexium, Prevacid will make food to stay in the stomach longer, as a result, some food and HCL may go up into the esophagus and cause GERD/heartburn /Acid Reflux. How to avoid Asian-Glow!

@monkeyeatsworld and I put Reedee patches, an alcohol flush support product to the test. Can we drink a bottle of sake without turning red? Check out the video to see if this is the miracle cure for Asian-Glow that you have been searching for. Disclaimer: The views expressed are my own. The actions of one person need not affect your own. Do your own research, question the “facts”, and proceed with caution. According to google: “H2 (histamine) blockers (like Zantac and Pepcid) slow the metabolism of alcohol, increasing peak blood alcohol concentration to potentially dangerous levels.” In other words, antihistamines increase the rate at which blood alcohol levels rise, and can cause you to reach your limit much more quickly. If you’re not careful, you can reach toxic levels more quickly than you anticipate, making it more likely to experience alcohol poisoning and requiring hospitalization”. I myself have been using this method for years and have encountered no issue. Nonetheless please proceed with caution. Treat and Stop Acid Reflux with Natural Medicine - Dr. Patti Kim, ND

04:57
Low stomach acid causes most Acid Reflux symptoms, according to Dr. Patti Kim, ND (Naturopathic Doctor). In this video interview, Dr. Kim discusses: 1) The symptoms of Acid Reflux, including burning, heat or pain sensation in chest and/or throat area, regurgitation, belching due to the sphincter being weakened, feeling full sooner than normal, chronic sore throats or laryngitis. 2) The conventional treatment for Acid Reflux, including calcium carbonate antacids such as Tums, Maalox, Mylanta; or proton pump inhibitors such as Prilosec, Nexium, Prevacid and Protonix. 3) That neutralizing stomach acid or stopping stomach acid production with artificial drugs can be harmful to the body because of the numerous side effects associated with the drugs, and that this type of conventional symptom treatment does not treat the root cause. 4) That stress is a primary cause of lowering stomach acid. 5) That stomach acids leak into the esophagus because of a weak sphincter (often due to stress). 6) Factors that influence acid reflux: poor nutrition, foods that cause inflammation, eating spicy foods and alcohol. 7) Natural Medicine treatment of acid reflux includes: stomach pH may be tested; goal is to raise stomach acid (or lower if too high) through dietary changes, exercise, herbs, nutritional supplements, digestive supplements and Homeopathic remedies. 8) Especially important is removal of processed foods and eating whole, organic foods. 9) Dr. Kim has a great success rate of stopping acid reflux: most of her patients are symptom free within a week. Antacid Products and Asian Flush (A.K.A. Asian Glow)

01:12
http://www.deltanutra.com - Our Founder Spencer Gordon explains why it's not helpful, and can also be harmful to take antacid products to hide facial redness from alcohol flush reaction. It is very popular with some people with ALDH2 Deficiency to take Pepcid AC or other Antacid products prior to drinking alcohol to reduce redness in the skin. This products work by acting as as anti-histamines so it reduces the amount of blood flow that occurs in the skin. This can actually cause harm especially when drinking alcohol. First it can increase the level of intoxication after drinking the same amount of alcohol and damage the lining of the stomach. This happens because of an overproduction of stomach acid particularly when drinking. It can lead to stomach ulcers. Taking Pepcid AC doesn’t lower the amount of acetaldehyde in the body, which is the source of the negative physical symptoms of alcohol flush reaction and the source of the inflammation that’s causing the facial redness. So when you take Pepcid AC, it’s not doing your body any good to protect it from the dangerous compounds that would cause this reaction to occur.

What is Zantac?

02:30
Zantac is a medicine which decreases stomach acid production. It is commonly used to treat acid reflux, chronic indigestion, as well as to treat and prevent peptic ulcers. Zantac contains the active ingredient ranitidine. Ranitidine works by stopping cells found in the stomach lining from picking up signals from the brain to produce acid. This, in turn, soothes heartburn and any stomach acid-related issue. Antacids and Allergies

05:25
Being a parent is hard work. And being a parent of a child in pain can be a very scary thing. I get it, we have all been there. But before you go run out and get that prescription filled there are some things to consider. A large study shows antacid and antibiotic use in early childhood significantly raises the risk of developing allergies. Researchers looked at the records of almost 800,000 children born during a 13-year period to families in the military. Surprisingly, almost 10 percent of the babies were treated with antacids such as Zantac or Pepcid for acid reflux; spitting up is common in infants and does not typically need to be medicated. But it can be scary when you are not aware. After all, adults don't spit up. Also surprising was that more than half of the children in the study went on to develop allergies, rashes, asthma, or hay fever. However, the children who received antacids in infancy were twice as likely to develop allergic diseases compared to the rest. What’s worse is that their risk of developing anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction that can be deadly, was 50 percent higher compared to the non-medicated children. Children who received antibiotics as babies were twice as likely to have asthma and had a 50 percent higher likelihood of hay fever and anaphylactic allergies. Those are some pretty significant increases in incidence rates. Why you must take care of the gut to avoid allergies and immune-based diseases The researchers suggested the negative impact antacids and antibiotics have on gut bacteria, also called the gut microbiome, play a role in the development of allergies and other immune disorders. Additionally, by neutralizing the acidity of the stomach, which is necessary to break down foods, antacids may be allowing undigested foods into the small intestine. This negatively impacts the gut microbiome and inflames the digestive tract., ultimately leading to a leaky gut type condition. Which if its "like" leaky gut, it's going to become leaky gut. Ever heard the term fake it till you make it? The health of the digestive tract and gut microbiome profoundly influences immune health. When the gut is inflamed and damaged and gut bacteria is unhealthy and full of bad bacteria, this predisposes a person to bunch of immune-based disorders, including but not limited to: Allergies Food sensitivities Chemical sensitivities Eczema and other skin-based disorders Asthma and other respiratory disorders Autoimmune diseases Brain-based disorders For the full article and a link to our page visit : https://premierifm.com/blog_files/antacids-antibiotics-raise-allergy.html

Emergency Acid Reflux Symptoms

07:56
Emergency Acid Reflux Symptoms. What Is Acid Reflux?. Do you ever feel a fiery, tingling sensation at the back of your mouth after eating a heavy meal or spicy foods? What you’re feeling is stomach acid or bile flowing back up into your esophagus. This is often accompanied by heartburn, which is characterized by a burning or tightening sensation in the chest behind the breastbone. According to the American College of Gastroenterology, more than 60 million Americans experience acid reflux at least once per month, and more than 15 million Americans may experience it every day. Though it can occur in anyone, including infants and children, acid reflux is most common in pregnant women, people who are obese, and older adults. While it’s normal to experience acid reflux occasionally, those who experience it more than twice per week may have a more serious problem known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). GERD is a chronic form of acid reflux that can irritate the lining of your esophagus, causing it to become inflamed. This inflammation may lead to esophagitis, which is a condition that may make it difficult or painful to swallow. Constant esophageal irritation may also result in bleeding, narrowing of the esophagus, or a precancerous condition called Barrett’s esophagus. Acid Reflux Symptoms. The symptoms of acid reflux in teenagers and adults can include: *a burning sensation in the chest that gets worse when bending over or lying down and usually occurs after a meal. *frequent burping. *nausea. *abdominal discomfort. *a bitter taste in the mouth. *a dry cough. The symptoms of acid reflux in infants and young children can include: *wet burps. *hiccups. *frequent spitting up or vomiting, especially after meals. *wheezing or choking due to acid backup into windpipe and lungs. *spitting up after age 1, which is the age at which spitting up should stop. *irritability or crying after meals. *refusing to eat or only eating small amounts of food. *difficulty gaining weight. What Causes Acid Reflux?. Acid reflux is the result of a problem that occurs during the digestive process. When you swallow, the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) normally relaxes to let food and liquid travel from your esophagus to your stomach. The LES is a circular band of muscles located between your esophagus and stomach. After food and liquid enter the stomach, the LES tightens and closes the opening. If these muscles relax irregularly or weaken over time, stomach acid can back up into your esophagus. This causes acid reflux and heartburn. It’s considered erosive if an upper endoscopy shows breaks in the esophageal lining. It’s considered nonerosive if the lining looks normal. What Are the Risk Factors for Acid Reflux?. Though it can occur in anyone, including infants and children, acid reflux is most common in pregnant women, people who are obese, and older adults. When Is an Upper Endoscopy Needed?. You may need an upper endoscopy so that your doctor can make sure there are no serious underlying reasons for your symptoms. You may need this procedure if you have: *difficulty or pain with swallowing. *GI bleeding. *anemia, or a low blood count. *weight loss. *repeated vomiting. If you’re a man who’s older than 50 years old and you have nighttime reflux, are overweight, or you smoke, you may also need an upper endoscopy to determine the cause of your symptoms. Acid Reflux Treatment: The type of treatment for acid reflux that your doctor will suggest depends on your symptoms and your health history. Common medical treatments include: *histamine-2 receptor blockers to reduce stomach acid production, such as famotidine (Pepcid) and ranitidine (Zantac). *proton pump inhibitors to reduce stomach acid production, such as esomeprazole (Nexium) and omeprazole (Prilosec). *medications to strengthen the LES, such as baclofen (Kemstro). *surgeries to reinforce and strengthen the LES. *antacids to neutralize stomach acid. Making some simple lifestyle changes can also help treat acid reflux. These include: *raising the head of the bed or using a wedge pillow. *avoiding lying down for two hours after meals. *avoiding eating for two hours before bed. *avoiding wearing tight clothing. *limiting your consumption of alcohol. *quitting smoking. *losing weight if you’re overweight. You should also avoid avoid foods and beverages that trigger acid reflux, including: *citrus fruits. All Photos Licensed Under CC Source : www.pexels.com www.pixabay.com www.commons.wikimedia.org

http://x.vu/heartburnstop how to stop heartburn fast What Is Acid Reflux? Acid reflux disease, also known as gastro-esophageal reflux disease, or GERD, occurs due to the coexistence of two medical conditions. The first acid reflux disease contributing condition is a retrograde flow of stomach contents into the esophagus. However, the reflux itself does not necessarily lead to gastro-esophageal reflux disease symptoms or histologic changes, and can occur among healthy individuals as well. In this case, the process is referred to as "physiologic gastroesophageal reflux". The second acid reflux disease predisposing condition is a lower esophageal sphincter (LES) malfunction. The LES is a 3-cm to 4-cm ring of muscle, which is two to three times thicker than the proximal esophagus and acts as a valve between the esophagus and the stomach. In the case of acid reflux disease, the LES does not close perfectly and stomach contents splashes up into the esophagus. When pathologic symptoms follow this process, the whole condition is called acid reflux disease. Gastro-esophageal reflux disease is usually experienced as a persistent (at least twice a week) heartburn. Heartburn is the burning sensation in the chest or throat, caused by refluxed stomach contents touching the lining of the esophagus. Since healthy individuals may also experience light reflux - occasional heartburn is common as well, and doesn't necessarily serve as an evidence of GERD. Some GERD sufferers may also experience pain in the chest, cough, morning hoarseness, voice changes, difficulty swallowing (especially lumpy foods), chronic earache, burning chest pains, nausea or sinusitis. Some patients report a sensation that reminds food stuck, choking or tightness in the throat. This happens due to continuous stomach contents acid flow that comes into contact with the esophagus and causes inflammation of the esophagus resulting in scars from tissue damage. Untreated acid reflux disease can lead to serious health complications. Those include stricture formation, bleeding, ulcers and esophageal spasms. When the stomach acid reaches the upper esophagus and trachea, the process can result in a variety of severe conditions, such as asthma, sinusitis and pneumonia. Finally, some people may develop Barrett's esophagus, a condition that manifest in an abnormal shape and color of cells in the esophageal lining. This condition is a precursor to esophageal cancer, especially in adults over 60 years old. The treatment of gastro-esophageal reflux disease takes three forms: surgery, medical therapy and holistic therapy, including dietary and lifestyle changes and the intake of specific herbal supplements. An undergoing surgery should be considered very carefully, since it can compound some underlying conditions, such as stricture and motility disorders. Medical treatment of GERD includes PPIs and H2 blockers. While acid reflux can be treated by taking prescription medications or acid blockers such as the above, bear in mind that the results may be temporary and that some conventional medications can cause serious side effects. From a holistic point of view, acid reflux disease is considered a warning sign of a major internal imbalance that needs to be properly addressed. Therefore, alternative remedies, such as homeopathic remedies, herbal remedies, lifestyle changes as part of a complete holistic regimen are strongly recommended for acid reflux sufferers. This article is based on the book, "Heartburn No More" by Jeff Martin. Jeff is an author, researcher, nutritionist and health consultant who dedicated his life to creating the ultimate acid reflux solution guaranteed to permanently reverse the root cause of heartburn and acid reflux and naturally and dramatically improve the overall quality of your life, without the use prescription medication and without any surgical procedures. How to Reduce Excess Stomach Acid

01:17
How to Reduce Excess Stomach Acid Your stomach is full of naturally produced acid that helps break down food and protects the GI tract from infection. But, excess stomach acid can cause uncomfortable symptoms, pain, and even severe health problems. The most common symptom is heartburn (a.k.a. gastroesophageal reflux), which occurs when stomach acid leaks into the esophagus. Frequent heartburn suggests gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which can damage the esophagus and throat. Reducing excess stomach acid is the best way to manage these problems. Seeking Medical Attention for GERD 1 See a doctor if necessary. If you make the lifestyle changes suggested above but see no change in symptoms, it's time to see a doctor. Long-term GERD can cause esophageal injury and is associated with other severe health problems. Prolonged inflammation and repeated injury can also increase the risk of developing esophageal cancer. Don't hesitate to seek medical treatment if lifestyle changes don't fix your stomach acid issues. 2 Ask your doctor for medication recommendations.[1][2][3][4] Medical treatment for GERD is broken down according to severity of symptoms. Many of medications are available over-the-counter (OTC). You should still consult your doctor to ensure a proper treatment regimen. If he or she can write you a prescription for an OTC medication, you might even be able to get it covered by insurance. Follow the dosage and timing instructions carefully for each different drug to prevent potentially severe side effects. • For mild to moderate GERD: Take antacids as needed (Tums, Maalox) to neutralize acid if your symptoms occur once weekly or less. They provide relief within minutes, but only last for about one hour. Take surface agents (sucralfate/Carafate) to protect esophageal and stomach lining and promote healing. Take histamine 2 receptor antagonists (Zantac, Pepcid) to decrease acid secretion. • For severe or frequent (2 or more episodes per week) GERD: take proton pump inhibitors (omeprazole, lansoprazole, esomeprazole, pantoprazole, dexlansoprazole, rabeprazole) to prevent acid secretion in the stomach.[5] Some of these are available OTC, and the standard dose is one pill daily for 8 weeks. Side effects include: bacterial infections and diarrhea, anemia and osteoporosis, and interactions with other medications. 3 Discuss the option of an endoscopy. In a screening upper endoscopy, doctors use a camera on a flexible tube to look at the throat, esophagus, and stomach. During the procedure, they might take biopsies to assess inflammation, check for H. pylori (a type of bacteria), and rule out cancer.[6] Discuss whether your symptoms call for an endoscopy with your doctor. 4 Be open to surgery if your doctor recommends it.[7] Rarely, GERD symptoms don't respond to any medications, in which case you may need surgery. One surgical approach (fundoplication) wraps the upper part of the stomach around the esophagus, then sews it in place to reinforce the esophageal opening. A second approach wraps a string of magnetized beads around the point where the esophagus meets the stomach. This closes the lower esophagus, but lets it expand when swallowing so food can get through. • Young people who will suffer from life-long GERD symptoms can also consider surgery.
