What is prostate cancer? Prostate cancer, usually refers to prostate adenocarcinoma, where adeno- means gland and carcinoma refers to uncontrolled growth of cells - so prostate cancer is a tumor or growth that originates in the prostate gland. Only males are born with a prostate, so this condition only affects males and not females. Typically, when there’s a prostate cancer it’s considered malignant, meaning that the tumor cells can metastasize, or invade and destroy surrounding tissues as well as tissues throughout the body. I bring this up because of personal reasons - I have a family history of prostate cancer. In fact, about 2 years ago my uncle died of it. Unfortunately, he lived in another country and I didn’t have much contact with him to help him. So, hopefully this video can help you or someone you care about… Unfortunately, I knew this was the WRONG way to deal with this situation. That his dad should NOT be taking “testosterone killing” drugs. I then told him that higher testosterone is actually PROTECTIVE AGAINST prostate cancer and that the REAL cause is an imbalance and higher levels of “negative” hormones such as estrogens (female hormone), DHT (hair loss hormone) and cortisol (stress hormone). In addition to inflammatory responses from other hormones... However, I’m sharing this story with you so you can learn from it and not BLINDLY accept whatever drugs your doctor gives you or someone you care about it. So let me quickly dispel the myth about what causes prostate cancer. Now, for decades scientists have given men with prostate cancer, anti-androgen drugs such as Flutamide.1,2 Basically, these types of drugs are forms of “medical castration”. They completely turn OFF your testicles from producing any hormones, which is primarily testosterone for men. The end result was a regression in prostate cancer and a decrease in BPH.1,2 Unfortunately, a man is no longer a “man”. Having no testosterone causes him to be depressed, have no sex drive, loss of muscle and strength, weaker bones, higher belly fat, higher levels of cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar, etc., etc. All problems related to “low testosterone”. However, if you no longer have cancer, I guess these problems are okay and you’ll “tolerate” life. Unfortunately, this thought process was and is completely wrong. You see, if “high testosterone” was the real cause of prostate problems, then all guys in their teenage years and 20’s, would have issues because this is the time when a man’s testosterone is the highest. Yet, guys have no prostate problems during these years … right? The TRUTH is that as a man ages, AND his testosterone is dropping, is when he starts having the prostate problems. And recent research reveals the cause of this is an imbalance of hormones, which is high estrogens, resulting in lowered testosterone.4 And THIS is why taking these horrible “anti-androgen” drugs worked. They completely block all the testosterone in your body and thus, there was nothing to convert to estrogen and the end result was yes, less testosterone... and thus, the thought process that “testosterone causes prostate problems” However, having no testosterone also, LOWERS estrogens and THAT was the REAL reason these drugs worked. In fact, increasing your testosterone levels while also decreasing your estrogens and other “negative” hormones such as DHT, prolactin and cortisol… is the REAL CURE for prostate cancer!3,6 And that’s the REAL secret - the optimal balance between these hormones.4,5 You want the same ratio and levels of hormones that you did in your 20’s when you were the HEALTHIEST! For decades I’ve been saying this because we have prostate cancer in my family. And now, there are multiple studies backing everything up.4 In fact, one study4 included 18 total studies involving almost 20,000 men and it showed that increasing testosterone helped protect against prostate cancer. ======================================== Thank you for watching. Just been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer? Get sound advice from Edward Weber, M.D. At pctrf.org, you can find help. Prostate Cancer takes years to develop to where it can be diagnosed. Rising PSA, Biopsy or DRE? You didn't just get prostate cancer, you have just been diagnosed with cancer. Take your time, to learn the options. Schedule appointments with specialist. Sessions with Urological Surgeons, Radiation Therapists and Medical Oncologists can help you sort through the Treatment Options. Do you choose Active Surveillance, Surgery, External Beam Radiation, Seed or Brachytherapy, Proton Therapy, Cryotherapy, Cyberknife, or some other treatment? The Prostate Cancer Treatment Research Foundation can help you with this process. On our website, we provide a simple way for you to view the results of different prostate cancer treatments across thousands of patients for as long as fifteen years. Visit our website at https://.prostatecancerfree.org Video Development - Dean Dubinsky Video Transcript: Prostate Cancer Free Foundation. Increasing Knowledge - Building Hope. Edward Weber, M.D. Medical Oncologist, Prostate Cancer Results Study Group. You’ve been diagnosed with prostate cancer. If your diagnosis came as a result of a schedule of appropriate PSA testing, it’s very likely the disease has been found early. This comes as a surprise to most men and they are quite anxious at this point. Being told you have prostate cancer is a frighting message carrying a heavy baggage The normal urge is to plunge into a “crash course” to learn how to manage this unwelcome intrusion into your life, a crash course that you are unlikely to know how to handle objectively. So … what to do? Stop, take a deep breath, step back a bit, and think carefully. It is extremely unusual that there is any need to rush to a decision. Most cancers have been sitting quietly in your prostate and growing for 10 to 15 years, with the most aggressive ones developing over 10 or so years. So … you haven’t just “gotten” prostate cancer. You just have been “diagnosed” with a cancer that you have been living with for a long time. Likely your diagnosis has been made by a biopsy performed by a urologist, an expert in the surgical management of prostate cancer. It’s extremely important for you to know that any cancer, low grade, intermediate, or high grade can be successfully treated with surgery, augmented if need be by radiation, external beam radiation therapy, permanent radioactive seed placement, for example brachytherapy, combined if indicated by external radiation, and proton therapy. In some cases cryotherapy or short course of focused radiation with Cyberknife technology is chosen. Active surveillance is a very important option for management of low-risk cancer. It warrants serious consideration and discussion. Take your time and learn about the treatment options available to you. You may want to consider several of these. In most situations, all of these are reasonable options. But for some men their individual situations makes a particular option the better choice. Nor do all options suit every man’s emotional reaction to the diagnosis or his preferences. So what should you do? You do not need to become an instant expert. Instead, you need to have consultations with possibly several specialists who can describe their treatments and help you decide which treatment fits you best. In the process you may well have consultations with a urological surgeon and possibly several radiation therapists each skilled in a special type of radiation therapy. If your disease is more complex, you may want an option from medical oncologist, which is what I am. It’s important to be informed, but you don't need to do this alone. That’s what the specialists are there for. This is the time for deliberation, since once treated you cannot reverse the course. After stopping, and thinking, and gaining expert guidance, then take action. Most not all of the mental fuzz of anxiety and consternation will subside. But when you have made a considered decision you will feel very comfortable. Then you can devote your energy to the goal of successful treatment and recovery. The outcome of therapy for this disease is generally excellent, very likely much better than you might have thought. With careful deliberation on your part and treatment by experts, your will be able to make this usual good outcome your outcome. Prostate Cancer Free Foundation. https://prostatecancerfree.org

A lot of men get this test to rule out prostate cancer. PSA or Prostate Specific Antigen is a secretion by the prostate to help thin the semen fluid so sperm can swim freely. The ancient Greek word for sperm is “living bean” and the code for female and male is in the sperm. Richard Ablin PHD is the one who discovered the PSA or Prostate Specific Antigen. He also talks about the side effects of the Radical Prostateconomy. Some Reasons or Cause of High PSA 1. The day before, you went in a long jog. 2. Under Stress 3. Inflammation 4. Enlarged Prostate Gland PSA Blood Value - Risk of Prostate Cancer 1. Low risk: less than 10 2. Immediate Risk: 10-20 3. High Risk: greater than 20 Side Effects of Radical Prostateconomy 1. Incontinent 2. Impotent In this video we are gonna talk about something called PSA Prostate Specific Antigen. A lot of men get this test as they get older to rule out prostate cancer. So what is it? It is a secretion by the prostate, by the way the prostate normally should be the size of a walnut about 1 ounce, to help thin semen fluid so sperm can swim freely. The ancient Greek word for sperm means living been because you have this little cell with a tail that could actually swim like a mino carrying half of the genetic material to connect up with the ovum to fuse and form one body. The code for female and male is in the sperm. So this video is based on a book called The Great Prostate Hoax by Richard Albin PHD – this is the guy in 1970 who actually discovered PSA and he is writing a book about it. It is quite fascinating. So if you do research on PSA, they have certain blood values. You have Low risk: less than 10, Immediate Risk: 10-20 and High Risk: greater than 20. He found that these are arbitrary numbers, they are not based on fact, they are based on opinion because he found that you can have prostate cancer with low numbers and not have cancer with high numbers. There are many reasons for high PSA. Lets say for example the day before you went in a long jog or you are under stress, or you have inflammation, or you have an enlarged prostate gland – all of these could cause high PSA and as you get older, most men developed an enlarged prostate as the normal aging process. In fact he said this, some men died because of prostate cancer and many man that have prostate cancer die from old age with prostate cancer. The thing about prostate cancer is that its very rare for it to spread outside the gland itself. What causes prostate cancer? The answer is not always easy to find. Experts believe there is a genetic link in some cases. There have also been links to chemical exposure such as Agent Orange. Racial background can also be a factor. American men of African descent are more at risk, as are men of European descent. Men with Asian heritage are somewhat less likely to have prostate cancer. Find out the signs and symptoms of prostate cancer from Cancer Research UK. Learn how prostate cancer is diagnosed and the tests needed to find out. http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/prostate-cancer/symptoms In the video, Dr. Vincent Gnanapragasm from Cambridge University talks us through prostate cancer symptoms, signs and types: "As the most common cancer in men understanding Prostate Cancer is vital. So I’ve come to Cambridge University hospital to speak with Dr. Vincent Gnanapragasam to find out how they go about diagnosing this common cancer. Well Vincent, Prostate Cancer is notoriously difficult to diagnose isn’t it. Indeed, in fact Prostate Cancer most often has no symptoms. A man might go to his GP because he has notice a change in his urinary symptoms, getting up at night maybe or having difficulty passing water. And most often that’s due to a normal enlargement of the prostate as he gets older. In fact prostate cancer doesn’t cause any symptoms unless it is very advanced. In which case it might mimic some of those symptoms of an obstructed or large prostate. But if there are any concerns the first step is to go and see your GP who can then investigate further. What would your GP do? - Take a history - Do a physical examination - PSA blood test So what would your GP do? Most often they’ll take a history from you, do an examination of the prostate and do a PSA blood test. What is a PSA test? So PSA stand for Prostate Specific Antigene. It’s produced by the prostate gland and it’s a marker for the presence of Prostate Cancer. However it can also be raised by other conditions so it’s not a very specific marker but it’s the first test that we can do to see whether we should proceed to further investigations. What is a PSA test? A blood test that measures the amount of prostate specific antigen (PSA) in your blood. So what happens if you get sent to the hospital for an examination? The specialist will see you, again take a history and an examination and then most often what they will do is arrange a prostate biopsy. Increasingly they might recommend a scan to be done first, an MRI scan and then discuss with you what the best way to do a biopsy is. What is a Biopsy? The removal of a small sample of tissue for examination to determine the presence or extent of a disease. And if it is cancer tell us what happens then, tell us about some of the tests. Well, a discussion then starts. The first step is to make sure we know exactly what kind of Cancer it is and that might involve other types of scans, for example a CT scan or a bone scan. The kind of Cancer is determined by the size of it or the stage of a cancer. And once the specialist puts all that information together with what the biopsy has shown then they start to discuss with you what the treatments are."

(Visit: http://www.uctv.tv) Prostate cancer kills approximately 30,000 men in the US every year. For many, the disease is highly treatable and can be controlled with medical therapy for many years. An understanding of the factors that drive prostate cancer to become potentially lethal has led to a variety of new treatments that go far beyond standard chemotherapy approaches to cancer. Patients with advanced prostate cancer are currently treated with combinations and sequences of immunotherapies, hormonal approaches and chemotherapy. UCSF oncologist Dr. Charles J. Ryan covers the clinical and biological factors that drive treatment choice and sequence by physicians, and highlights how prostate cancer therapies are emblematic of the progress that is being made against cancer in general. Further, he addresses the challenges faced by patients and doctors and the research being done to address them. Recorded on 06/17/2014. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men in the United-States. The prostate is a walnut-sized gland behind the base of a man’s penis and below the urinary bladder. Its function is to make seminal fluid, which is the liquid in semen that protects, supports, and helps transport sperm. In this video will talk about some of the natural ways to reduce your risk of prostate-cancer. 1.Learn about personal risk factors. Some of the major personal risk factors for prostate cancer are age and family history. The risk of prostate cancer increases the older you get. Although approximately 75% of the cases of prostate-cancer have no pattern or order, about 20% of those with prostate-cancer have had cases of the disease in their family previously. More than 80% of prostate-cancers are diagnosed in men over the age of 65. 2.Exercise regularly. One great way to possibly reduce the risk of prostate-cancer is to exercise. Some studies even indicate that your risk of cancer decreases further the more vigorous you exercise. You should do aerobic-exercise at least 30 minutes per day for 5-6 days out of the week. 3.Have sex more often. Another way that you can reduce your risk of prostate-cancer is to have more sex. According to an Australian study, if you masturbate 3 or more times per week, you are 34% less likely to develop prostate-cancer by age 70. Along the same lines, sex also counts toward the total number of weekly ejaculations. • The finding could be explained by the flushing out of cancer-causing agents during ejaculation 3.Reduce the amount of fat you eat. You can reduce your risk of prostate-cancer by making dietary changes. In order to help lower your chance of getting prostate-cancer, you should eat a diet that is low in fat. According to numerous studies, there is an established link between a diet high in saturated-fat and the development of prostate-cancer. • In general, fats should not exceed 30% of total daily-caloric intake 4.Increase your soy intake. Increasing the consumption of soy products is another dietary option to consider to reduce the risk of prostate-cancer. Soy products contain isoflavones, which are natural compounds that act like estrogens. In laboratory tests, they have been proven to inhibit the growth of prostate-cancer cells. • Try to incorporate soy products such as soymilk, tempeh, miso, and tofu into your diet. 5.Brew green tea. Drinking green-tea may also reduce the risk of prostate-cancer. Brewed green-tea contains high levels of polyphenol compounds, particularly catechins, that may be protective against prostate-cancer. Try to brew yourself a cup with breakfast or lunch to help lower your risk of cancer 6.Increase natural vitamins and minerals. There are some supplements that will naturally help you fight prostate-cancer. Naturally occurring folate, a B vitamin, has been shown to reduce the risk of prostate-cancer. You should not take folic-acid, which is a synthetic form of folate, because it has been found to increase the risk of prostate-cancer. I did a lot of research, using only reliable websites like the ones you see on your screen, and I'll summarize what I learned about prostate cancer stages in the next minute or so. Prostate cancer stages indicate how far the cancer has progressed. A lower stage means cancer cells are confined to the prostate. A higher stage is assigned when the cancer has grown to invade nearby tissue or spread to distant areas of the body. Prostate cancer usually grows slowly and in the beginning, confines itself to the prostate gland. Some types of prostate cancer may not even need to be treated, depending on the age of the patient. But other types are more aggressive, can spread quickly, and require treatment. There are four stages. Stage I. At this stage, the cancer is located only in a small area of the prostate. Stage II. Cancer cells may still be small but could possibly be aggressive, depending on the type. Stage II could also, however, include a larger area that ha grown to involve both sides of the prostate gland. Stage III. At this stage, the cancer has spread beyond the prostate to nearby tissues. Stage IV. The cancer is invading nearby tissues, bones or organs, which may include the bladder, lymph nodes, or even those as far away as the lungs. Your doctor assigns your cancer a stage after testing. Of course, cancer in the early stages, when it's still confined to the prostate, has a better chance of successful treatment and a longer survival rate. I've produced several other videos on prostate cancer, including one on survival rates. You'll find links to those videos above

Reduce Cancer Risk With Boron Boron is increasingly recognized for its targeted capacity to destroy prostate cancer cells and lower prostate-specific antigen, or PSA—while leaving healthy cells unharmed. Sufficient amounts of boron also support healthy bones and joints, as well as reducing the risk and pain of osteoarthritis. Boron quantities found in food are usually very low. Adequate boron intake via supplements may help prevent or control potentially lethal prostate cancer and support optimum health. BORON: NOT ABUNDANTLY FOUND IN FOOD Boron is a trace mineral that is essential to plant growth and finds its way into the human diet through our consumption of plant foods—especially apples, plums, grapes, avocados, vegetables, nuts, and legumes. Despite its widespread availability in plant foods, ingesting adequate amounts of boron through dietary choices can be difficult. Why? Because the total quantity of boron in any one plant food is very low. For example, apples are considered to be a good source of boron. However, to attain the minimum 3 mg daily intake of boron that is generally suggested, you would need to eat about 2.4 pounds of apples a day—that’s over eight apples! You wouldn’t have to worry about surpassing the tolerable daily intake (TDI) for boron until you managed to consume about 68 apples during a single day! Worse, with modern dietary habits, many individuals can develop a boron deficiency by simply failing to eat enough fruits, vegetables, and nuts. And even among those whose diets include rich quantities of these plant foods, their boron intake will be greatly affected by regional geology because the food content of boron varies greatly according to the boron content of the soil in the region where the produce was grown. Even local preferences for some foods over others can result in high or low human boron levels. Ensuring optimal boron intake becomes increasingly important as we age. While boron has long been recognized for its critical role in safeguarding bone health, scientists are increasingly excited about growing evidence of boron’s powerful role in blocking the development of prostate cancer. This idea has sparked intense interest among researchers, because this potentially fatal disease is at epidemic proportions. Autopsy evidence indicates that prostate cancer is histologically evident in up to 34% of men aged 40 to 49 and up to 70% of men aged 80 and older. PROSTATE CANCER: WHAT’S YOUR RISK? Prostate Cancer Also known as carcinoma of the prostate—a gland in the male reproductive system—prostate cancer: Is diagnosed in about 209,000 American men every year Is the most common cancer among men Is the second leading cause of cancer death among men (after lung cancer) Kills about 28,000 American men annually Can occur without exhibiting any symptoms at all Can result in any of the following symptoms: Difficulty starting urination Weak or interrupted flow of urine Frequent urination, especially at night Difficulty emptying the bladder completely Pain or burning during urination Blood in the urine or semen Pain in the back, hips, or pelvis that doesn’t go away Painful ejaculation May be up to 64% less likely to strike men with adequate boron levels than men with boron deficiency

Surgeons have described a new treatment for early stage prostate cancer as "truly transformative". The approach, tested across Europe, uses lasers and a drug made from deep sea bacteria to eliminate tumours, but without causing severe side effects. Trials on 413 men - published in The Lancet Oncology - showed nearly half of them had no remaining trace of cancer. Lifelong impotence and incontinence are often the price of treating prostate cancer with surgery or radiotherapy. Prostate cancer signs | 10 Signs That May Indicate Prostate Cancer Changes in urine and difficulty maintaining erection are signs that may indicate prostate cancer, a common illness after age 50. However these same symptoms can also occur due to benign changes, such as in the enlarged prostate, for example. Therefore, it is important to go to the urologist at least once a year after the age of 45, to do routine exams to identify any prostate changes as soon as possible. The prostate is a gland that is located near the anus and so rectal examination is the best way to evaluate your health. It is the prostate that produces the fluid that forms the sperm which is important for conducting the sperm to the egg during sexual contact. Early symptoms of prostate cancer. One must be aware of the following signs, which may indicate a tumor in the prostate: 1. Difficulty urinating; 2. Decreased amount of urine; 3. Difficulty in stopping the passage of urine; 4. Frequent urge to urinate, waking up several times during the night to go to the bathroom; 5. Feeling that the bladder is still full, even after urinating; 6. Urinate in drops; 7. Pain in the region of the testicles; 8. Impotence or difficulty in maintaining erection; 9. Pain when ejaculating; 10. Presence of blood in the semen. In addition, if the cancer has spread to other regions of the body, it is also common to have symptoms such as back, thigh, shoulder or other bone pain, for example. If any of these symptoms develop, you should see your urologist for tests that identify changes in the prostate, such as the rectal examination and PSA, which is a blood test. Symptoms of advanced prostate cancer. In more advanced cases, where the prostate is greatly enlarged or cancer metastasis has occurred to other regions of the body, symptoms may include: Urinary or faecal incontinence; Weakness in the legs; Pain in the bones; Renal insufficiency. In the more advanced stages, it is important to seek the doctor to assess the extent of the disease and whether other organs have been reached with the aid of exams such as prostate biopsy , scintigraphy or computed tomography. Treatment for prostate cancer. Treatment for prostate cancer is done according to the stage of the disease and the state of health of the patient. Usually the treatment is done with:............For more watch video in detail. Don't forget to subscribe For more recipes and tips, subscribe to the channel! Skip Stein’s cancer survivor story began on April 14, 2010, when he went to the doctor for a biopsy. Skip actually didn’t learn that he had prostate cancer until April 24th because his doctor forgot to call and tell him that the biopsy came back positive for prostate cancer. Shortly after he received the terrible news, Skip's doctor wanted to rush him into surgery, but they weren’t able to perform surgery at that time because Skip was overweight. Skip's doctor suggested that he have pellets placed directly into his prostate, along with radiation treatment. Being conscious of what radiation does, he asked his doctor, “doesn’t radiation cause cancer?” to which the doctor had no reply. They told him that if he did treatment he’d only live five years. If he didn’t do anything and do "watch and wait," his prognosis would drop to three years. Having seen his father pass away from his cancer treatment by going through the conventional methods, Skip decided that he would take things into his own hands and change his lifestyle. Searching for a prostate cancer cure, Skip and his wife started a strictly plant based diet eliminating meat, fish, dairy, and eggs. His wife became certified in plant-based nutrition, and even became a chef. Skip began beating cancer with a plant based diet and lifestyle changes. Along with the diet, Skip and his wife began exercising regularly. They also answer the question of, “can we starve cancer?” Apparently, you can. They noticed a dramatic change in their appearance with the plant based diet before and after. They both lost tons of weight and have kept it off and feel better than they have in 40 years. Skip’s prostate cancer survivor story is just another example of how you can beat prostate cancer being a vegan.
