This toddler has a shocking habit! New footage shows the Indonesian child puffing away on cigarettes in front of his smiling mother. He's been chain-smoking for two months, going through multiple packs of cigarettes a day. He even calls cigarettes delicious! Most common allergies that we encounter in clinical practice are the allergies of the skin and the respiratory system. Atopic dermatitis or allergic dermatitis is very common in newborns and infants and simple measures to keep this under check would be after you've shown your child to a paediatrician and confirmed its atopic dermatitis, it would be advisable to just use an emollient or a moisturizer immediately after bath, to use a cleansing lotion instead of harsh soap, to just use cottons and avoid using synthetics and woollens and moisturize repeatedly. IF the allergy is very severe, then some additional medications will be prescribed by your paediatrician or dermatologist to treat these rashes. . Apart from skin, we do face a lot of children having respiratory allergies, upper respiratory which is allergic rhinitis and lower respiratory disease which we term asthma or hyper reactive airway disease in children. Again, these will have to be checked by your paediatrician who will advise you if any medications are required.. In general, allergies can be prevented by taking care of the environment, particularly at home. Dust should be avoided in bedrooms, exposure to smoke such as cigarette smoke, incense sticks and cooking smoke should be avoided. Strong smells from perfumes, soaps, deodorants, room fresheners, air fresheners should be avoided including care perfumes .

Pediatric Allergist Ron Ferdman provides some insights about food allergens and how to possibly avoid them. The best thing to prevent your baby from developing food allergies is by breastfeeding. Four to six months of breastfeeding has been shown to cut down the number of food allergies a child will develop. Cigarette smoke exposure in utero or when your child is very young can also lead to an allergy, along with alcohol use. The most common presentation of food allergies is within the first year. Smoking and pregnancy: Incredible images of foetus holding its face show how babies exposed to cigarettes may have delayed development. New ultrasound pictures show how babies of mothers who smoke during pregnancy touch their mouths and faces much more than babies of non-smoking mothers. Foetuses normally touch their mouths and faces much less the older and more developed they are. Experts said the scans show how smoking during pregnancy can mean the development of the baby's central nervous system is delayed. Doctors have long urged pregnant women to give up cigarettes because they heighten the risk of premature birth, respiratory problems and even cot death. Now researchers believe they can show the effects of smoking on babies in the womb. Dr Nadja Reissland, of Durham University, used 4-D ultrasound scan images to record thousands of tiny movements in the womb. She monitored 20 mothers attending the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, four of whom smoked an average of 14 cigarettes a day. After studying their scans at 24, 28, 32 and 36 weeks, she detected that foetuses whose mothers smoked continued to show significantly higher rates of mouth movement and self-touching than those carried by non-smokers. Foetuses usually move their mouths and touch themselves less as they gain more control the closer they get to birth, she explained. All the babies in her study were born healthy, and were of normal size and weight. Dr Reissland, who has an expertise in studying foetal development, thanked the mothers who took part in her study, especially those who smoked. It was a harrowing scene as a woman was forcibly removed from a Southwest Airlines plane. She claimed to have a life-threatening allergy to pets, and there were two dogs on board. When she couldn't produce medical documents, she was asked to get off, but refused. Some passengers were horrified, while others pleaded with her to calm down. Southwest Airlines says passengers who say they cannot travel safely with pets must produce a medical certificate, and called the incident "disheartening."

Smoking doesn’t preclude the use of nasal sprays. Nasal sprays are usually given as treatment modalities for nasal allergies. So it is certainly possible to use them by a smoker having said that smoking can itself predispose to aggravate nasal allergies. So it would be a sound principle to stop smoking if you have severe nasal or bronchial allergies.

The reason behind this, is that they show little to no signs at all. They will usually only have a cough which could be a symptom of many other things. They can also have excema and have a lot of allergies. If your family has a history of asthma this can also be a strong indicator whether your baby has asthma or not. It s best if you believe your baby has asthma that you talk to your doctor immediately. A doctor will do a detailed analyisis and determine if your child has asthma. Allergies And Asthma Asthma and AllergiesSo what do allergies have to do with asthma? Everything, asthma is a sensativity in the breathing tubes also called bronchial tubes. Allergens cause the breathing tubes to become swollen and produce extra mucus. This in turn makes it harder for you to breathe. If your baby is allergic to something then they should not be around the item they are allergic to. Sounds like common sense but If you don't know what they are allergic to it can become a problem. It is important to get your baby tested for allergies as soon as they are old enough for the testing. Some doctors will do testing at 1 years old but If your baby has bad allergies they will do it sooner. Things like cigarette smoke can trigger an asthma attack as well as exercise like running around. If your baby has asthma you will want to get with your doctor to come up with an asthma action plan. How Is Asthma Treated? Asthma is most commonly treated with a rescue inhaler for fast relief, daily inhaler to stop attacks before they start( although they take much longer to work), and a nebuliser. A Nebuliser is a machine that makes liquids into a mist. Most likely your doctor will prescribe a nebulizer as this is easiest for infants to use and some medicines are not suitable for children under the age of 2. Is There A Cure For Asthma? Is There A Cure For Asthma? As of right now, there is no cure. There are recent trials being conducted so perhaps in the near future there will be a cure or at least better medicine. The newest treatment is kind of like dialysis. The blood is taken out the body and the IgE antibodies are removed. Then the blood is pumped back into the body. It is thought that these a antibodies are what cause asthma symptoms like wheezing, shortness of breathe and coughing. The study showed a significant amount of relief from symptoms in 80% of participants. Although not all children will, most children will outgrow asthma when they become an adult.

I found this flame war going on over this PSA on a blog I won't give mention to because I don't want to drive more traffic there. I think it's a good PSA and the director even stood up and defended her work in a response the the negative blogging. here is her response: here's my response.... I directed this commercial because I believe that people who are complacent enough to continue smoking in front of their children need a huge jolt - something powerful to alter their way of seeing their actions. People may be furious with the comparison between second hand smoke and child abuse - this is not a surprise. It is extremely disturbing to hear the sounds of the child in the spot being abused - as it should be. It's also extremely disturbing that there are still parents out there who know that smoking causes illness and possible death in children, yet they continue to smoke in front of them! First off, the definition of abuse is "to treat in a harmful, injurious, or offensive way..." In webster's it's "a corrupt practice or custom". What happens to babies when they are exposed to cigarette smoke? --Babies and children who are exposed to cigarette smoke have a much higher incidence of pneumonia, asthma, ear infections, bronchitis, sinus infections, eye irritation, and croup. --Colic occurs more often in babies whose mothers or fathers smoke or if a breastfeeding mother smokes. --Researchers believe that not only does the nicotine transferred into mother's milk upset baby but the passive smoke in the home acts as an irritant. --Babies of smoking parents fuss more, and mothers who smoke may be less able to cope with a colicky baby (due to lower levels of prolactin). --Heavy smoking by breastfeeding moms occasionally causes symptoms in the breastfeeding baby such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. --Babies of smoking mothers and fathers have a seven times greater chance of dying from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). --Children of smoking parents have two to three times more visits to the doctor, usually from respiratory infections or allergy-related illnesses. --Children who are exposed to passive smoke in the home have lower blood levels of HDL, the good cholesterol that helps protect against coronary artery disease. --Children of smoking parents are more likely to become smokers themselves. --A recent study found that growing up in a home in which two parents smoked could double the child's risk of lung cancer later in life. I will confess that I grew up in an extremely abusive household - this commercial is tame in comparison to some of the things I experienced and witnessed as a child. I also have have known a child raised in a family of smokers who died from cancer. Growing up I was friends with two other children who had terrible asthma and chronic respitory infections - all were raised in families where the parents smoked around the children. Now that we're adults who is worse? I've gotten counseling, resolved most of the issues with my family and am living a productive life. My friends still have constant asthma attacks and have had respitory infections that have lead to three bouts with pneumonia. Not to mention the fact that their father passed away ten years ago from lung cancer. So... who is worse off? No one is is. That's the point. Child abuse is horrible. Smoking around your children is abuse. As a mother of two small children, I believe that no child should be subjected to abuse of any kind. I'm proud of this spot - I believe it is a powerful statement on the behalf of children. My sincere hope is that parents who are currently smoking around their children will see this spot and make the right decision to NEVER smoke around their child again. We're not telling people to quit smoking - just quit smoking around your child. Take that cigarette outside, don't smoke in the car... Sincerely, Ramaa Mosley Triofilms.com

A whiff of smoke is all it is, and you would wonder how that could cause cancer, but behold my dear this is no ordinary air but the putrid breath of a piteous soul; who, plunges into those fiery depths and takes you with him unknowingly”. Around three thousand non-smokers die of Cancer every year, 150,000 to 200,000 infants die of ‘sudden death syndrome’ caused by smoking mothers. 200,000 to 300,000 infants have had their asthma worsened because of a passive smoking environment. Is your loved one part of these numbers? Do you have a mother, father, or a friend who is a chain smoker and that forces you to live in a risk prone environment? Passive smoking is not as harmless as you think it is, a cigarette has over 3000 chemicals each one capable of causing varied number of ailments. Each one gorier than the other, cancer is no joke and asthma, no laughing matter. That stale air that your loved one effuses out of his/her mouth is a death warrant, not only for him but more so for you. Here are some ill effects of passive smoking that will surely make you put a stop to that lousy habit. However if not anything, it might take your loved one on a guilt trip, and quitting might be an option he might begin to reconsider. Adverse Effects Of Passive Smoking •The Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has classified secondhand smoke as a Group A carcinogen. Research has proven that Cancer is caused due to passive smoking, lung cancer being the largest killer. The California Environmental Protection Agency concluded in 2005 that passive smoking increases the risk of breast cancer in younger, primarily premenopausal women by 70% •Renal cell carcinoma or popularly known as kidney cancer; one of the most lethal type of cancer is caused due to passive smoking. •Close to 50,000 deaths worldwide in non smokers due to heart ailments can be attributed to passive smoking. •Lower respiratory disorders like bronchitis and pneumonia are some of the short term effects of passive smoking. •Passive smoking leads to decreased lung function; this is especially true in children and infants. So chances are that your innocent five year old is victimized for your lousy habit. •Increased numbers of ear infections are another common ailment of passive smoking. •10,000 low birth weights are caused due to passive smoking each year. Low birth weight can lead to complications during the pregnancy and leads to abnormal development pattern. •8000 cases of asthma every year are caused due to passive smoking. However more than 1 million cases of aggravated asthma are also attributed to second hand smoking. •Passive smoking also leads to cognitive impairment and dementia in adults over 50 years of age. •More than 2000 cases of sudden death syndrome worldwide are caused due to smoking mothers. In sudden death syndrome the reason for death cannot be attributed. This is also popularly known as cot death in UK. •Research shows that a large number of still-births and spontaneous abortions are seen more in people, who are exposed to smoke rather than people never exposed to smoke. •An increase in tooth decay is also seen in infants exposed to passive smoking. •There is also an increased risk of developing tuberculosis in passive smokers, when exposed to a carrier. •Increased risks in developing allergies •Crohns disease; a gastrointestinal disorder that causes inflammation of the intestines and various parts of the gastrointestinal tract is caused due to passive smoking. Symptoms include abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea and weight loss. There is no known pharmaceutical or surgical cure for Crohn's disease. •Learning difficulties, development delays in infants are all attributed to passive smoking. a Vastu & Astrology : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbhc-xEKXBrPHPevA2ibJxQ Dharm अाैर Science : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_7ylmMqDS92eLK6NY76Y6w Difference & Similarities : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTIp54Q_dyw1o2etqsoeXiw What If ….कया हो अगर : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnsIAaPFcrUdOAtAJ3fokEA Parenting & Lifestyle : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChx9OYduRzQsdvyQBRIAq8A Shrimad Home Remedies : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3oHEjYN8K8eSH2LDq--5eQ Ghar Ka Khana : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTnETM8SXLVChvnf6wAfyxg Teej Tyohar - https://c.mp.ucweb.com/personal/index/58f59d88bae5476db984a49f3e5b5a8a?uc Guru Ka Gyan - https://c.mp.ucweb.com/personal/index/d4fd204f35014a458bb80deacbb4a925?uc Shreemad Home Remidies - https://c.mp.ucweb.com/personal/index/1ad6051206a446739f7e4fbf6f72035c?uc Ghar Ka Khana - https://c.mp.ucweb.com/personal/index/93f4321fdb504bec8e7ed24ae784b728?uc

This is one of the main concerns of many women with asthma. Like other allergic conditions, such as hay fever and eczema, asthma often runs in the family. Researchers are trying to show which factors in the environment also play a part. Some, but not all, studies have shown that breast-feeding in the first few months of life may reduce the chance of your baby developing allergic conditions, including asthma. Mothers who smoke during pregnancy are more likely to have children that develop asthma and wheezing in their early years. The most important thing you can do to reduce a baby's chance of asthma is to avoid cigarette smoke. Your asthma medicines won't harm your baby - in fact, your baby will do best if your asthma is under control, so it is important to continue with your asthma medicine. If you are concerned about your asthma, speak to your doctor, nurse or midwife. You should have your asthma reviewed by your doctor or asthma nurse if you are pregnant. https://www.asthma.org.uk/sign-up/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsthmaUK/ Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/asthmauk

Smokers who have asthma could have worse symptoms, and are more prone to get an attack, and often have a different kind of airway inflammation than the non-smoking asthmatics. Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways of the lungs. Cigarette smoking can be dangerous for asthma patients, as tobacco smoke is a powerful trigger of asthma symptoms. In asthma, allergic inflammation of the bronchial tubes increases mucus production, leading to cough and phlegm. In long-term cigarette smokers, chronic inhalation of smoke from burning tobacco also stimulates the mucous glands in the bronchial tubes to make excess mucus, giving rise to daily cough with phlegm. Smokers who have asthma could have worse symptoms, and are more prone to get an attack, and often have a different kind of airway inflammation than the non-smoking asthmatics. The mechanism Smoke comprises more than 4,000 chemicals, including carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide makes it harder for oxygen to flow around the body. When you smoke, or are exposed to smoke, you are taking the chemicals right into your lungs. The chemicals inflame the airways and lungs. If you are a smoker, or are regularly exposed to tobacco smoke, you will have more symptoms and need more medicines for your asthma. If your asthma symptoms increase, you are at a higher risk of an attack. Even if you are a passive smoker, symptoms can occur when you come in contact with an active smoker. How does tobacco smoke trigger asthma? When a person breathes in tobacco smoke, irritating substances get deposited in the moist linings of the airways. These substances can cause an asthmatic attack. In addition, tobacco smoke damages tiny hair in the airways called cilia. Generally, cilia sweeps dust and mucus out of the airways of the lungs. Tobacco smoke harms cilia so they become inactive and let dust and mucus in the airways. Smoke also triggers high production of mucus than normal and as a result causes an attack. Is passive smoking harmful to a person with asthma? Second-hand smoke is a mixture of smoke from a burning cigar or cigarette and smoke exhaled by a smoker. Passive smoking is particularly damaging to people with asthma. When an asthma patient is open to exhaled smoke, he or she is more susceptible to wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath. Asthma in children and effects of passive smoking on them When a child is exposed to tobacco smoke, his lungs become inflamed and hence produce more mucus than normal. Since a child’s airways are smaller, the second-hand smoke affects them faster and can hamper lung function in later life. Children whose parents smoke are also more prone to develop lung and sinus infections. These infections can lead to worse asthma symptoms, which are more difficult to control. It can also lead to delayed progress in young children. Can smoking harm an unborn child? Nicotine, the addictive ingredient in tobacco products, travels through the mother’s blood directly into the baby’s body. Children whose mothers smoke during pregnancy may have weaker lungs, and are therefore prone to airborne diseases like asthma. Ways to decrease exposure to tobacco smoke: *If you smoke, quit now. Quitting is not easy, but there are many medical resources and programmes to help. Ask your doctor to help you find the one that is best for you. If your spouse or relatives smoke, make them understand the hazards of smoking and encourage them to quit. *Do not allow smoking in your home, your car or nearby area. *Do not let anyone smoke around you or your relatives. *Avoid public spaces that permit smoking.

Passive smoking is also known as second hand smoking, means you don’t smoke, but you get the bad effects of smoking, because somebody near to you is smoking, or somebody dear to you is smoking in very closeby range. Now because the tobacco smoke when it is released into the air has a lot of particles , it doesn’t tend to rise and disappear, it tends to hang in mid air, which means our breathing air will have lot of particles. Children especially when exposed to passive smoking are more prone for allergies, they are more prone for asthma and breathing disorders. They are more prone to get adenoiditis and recurrent upper respiratory tract infections and sometimes if it is too much, I can affect their growth. People who live with smokers and who have never smoked actually have 30 – 40 5 of more chance of developing lung cancer. People who live with smokers and have never smoked have more chance of getting smoke because smoke particles make your blood thicker. This leads to clotting in the brain and predispose to strokes, also to cardiac disease. Now what can you do to prevent your near and dear ones from getting the effect of second hand smoke or passive smoking. You should avoid smoking in the same room, indoors especially at home where you have children. You should avoid smoking in cars which carry children less than 18 years. You should avoid smoking 3 – 4 metres away from the entrance to the school or you must be going to drop your kid. Just refrain from smoking in public areas.
