The Best Way to Dealing with Asthma and Allergies in Children. Asthma can cause severe problems in a child and can even be fatal. Given the seriousness of the disease, it is important to be able to identify symptoms of this disease in your child and get medical help as soon as possible so that the problem can be kept under control and your child can lead a healthy life. Allergies and asthma are often mistaken for each other since they can show similar symptoms. In fact, a number of people who are suffering from asthma also tend to suffer from a number of allergies. In both cases, the immunity system in the body tries to fight off different kinds of allergens. This causes inflammation in the system. People who suffer from asthma experience this inflammation in their airways, making it difficult for them to breath. What foods are bad for asthma? What not to eat? What should you avoid if you have asthma? Studies show that certain foods can help prevent or minimize common asthma symptoms, such as wheezing, chest tightness and shortness of breath. Likewise, there are foods that make them worst. Here we have listed worse foods for asthma sufferers: Peanuts: One study found children with asthma who also had a peanut allergy seemed to develop asthma earlier than kids without a peanut allergy and were also more likely to be hospitalized and more likely to need steroids. Many asthmatic children with peanut allergies also have allergies to grass, weeds, cats, dust mites and tree pollen, all of which can trigger asthma attacks. Dried Fruit: Many kinds of dried fruit include sulfites, and one of the most problematic additives in foods for many people with asthma. Wine or beer: Many kinds of wine and beer also contain sulfites. You may have to forsake that glass of cabernet if you find yourself coughing or wheezing after indulging. Some research also suggests that histamines in wine can cause symptoms like watery eyes, sneezing and wheezing. Smoking: Cigarette smoke contains different chemicals and gases that can irritate the lungs. Smoking not only increases your chance of getting asthma but also worsens the symptoms such as coughing and wheezing. Also, smoking during pregnancy is known to increase the risk of decreased lung function and wheezing in infants. The FDA is reviewing an experimental drug that shows it's possible to build up a peanut tolerance over time. The allergy treatment could hold promise for children who otherwise suffer severe reactions. The experimental drug that shows it's possible to build up a peanut tolerance over time is ready for U.S. Food and Drug Administration review. Final research results published in The New England Journal of Medicine were also presented at the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Annual Scientific Meeting on Sunday. A phase three trial included 551 people, most ages 4 to 17 with a history of life-threatening reactions after eating peanuts. Participants were given the experimental drug derived from peanuts daily over the course of several months. For more on this story: https://bit.ly/2DtuTIq Do you like what you see? Asthma is an increasingly common disease among society, especially among the youngest, which requires regular medical attention to prevent it from becoming a serious problem. Subscribe to wocomoDOCS: https://goo.gl/sBmGkp Follow wocomo on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wocomo An allergy is not a disease in itself, but the cause of several diseases at the same time; diseases such as allergic asthma. So, asthma is triggered by a failure of our immune system. Genetic factors, pollution and the environment, as well as an increasingly less active immune system are some causes why allergies are becoming a public health problem, mainly in developed countries. Asthma can become disabling for the patient. The main objective for Charité Berlin is to detect and follow the evolution of the disease, so that the patient has a good quality of life, without limitations in their daily activities and with no symptoms. Although it is a disease that cannot be cured, with a proper diagnosis and treatment, added to the patient's education on how to manage it, it can be kept under control. http://exhalenow.com When I first found out that my children have allergies and asthma, I blame myself. I know that allergies and asthma is a genetic condition. I did not want them to get it because it is a lifelong condition so I was very frustrated. I thought to myself, “my gosh, it sucks.” But now with Exhale, I know there are tools available that can help make their home life much easier. As a mom, I am very motivated. My number one priority is to make my children safe and healthy and especially at home. At home, it’s our safe haven. And so I have the ability to be able to, with Exhale, find out what’s in the home – find out if my family may be actually living with the enemy, which are the allergens that may be contributing to their allergies and asthma. I’ve spent thousands of dollars in developing or in putting together a home security system for our home. I’ve spent so much time and energy building out a medicine cabinet for my children for medicines to be able to deal with every single illness that could be out there. And now Exhale is another example of a tool that can help them feel better from an allergy and asthma perspective. Exhale is unique technology and a team of compassionate experts who help you solve asthma and allergies in your home. Our founder, Prasanthi Gandhi started this company because she's a mom who has suffered from allergies and asthma her whole life, and now her kids suffer from it too. Prasanthi just wanted them to be able to live in their home feeling healthy – not waking up wheezing at night, or coughing and nasally in the morning – sending her kids off to school on the wrong foot. She didn’t want my kids to be so reliant on sprays, pills, drops and inhalers every day. She started Exhale as a way to give moms like me a tool that gives them information about the air in their home – and an action plan to make their homes better for their family. Exhale helps them take back their lives.

Allergy Symptoms | Allergy and Asthma An allergic reaction to food can affect the skin, the gastrointestinal tract, the respiratory tract, and, in the most serious cases, the cardiovascular system. Reactions can range from mild to severe, including the potentially life-threatening condition known as anaphylaxis. In the U.S., food allergy symptoms send someone to the emergency room every three minutes. Symptoms typically appear within minutes to several hours after eating the food to which you are allergic. Keep in mind that children may communicate their symptoms in a different manner than adults. Read more about how a child might describe a reaction. Severe symptoms, alone or in combination with milder symptoms, may be signs of anaphylaxis and require immediate treatment. source : www.allergyandasthma.net ============== Disclaimer : This video does not represent "Allergy Symptoms | Allergy and Asthma" officially. Several investigators have provided evidence for a genetic localization for atopy. Babies of atopic parents are at high risk of developing atopic diseases, however the phenotypic expression of such diseases varies widely, being very mild in some infants and children, severe and frustrating in many, even life-threatening in others, being also common, disabilitating, and chronic.

Knowing how to use an EpiPen is important. Doctors are seeing more and more children with allergies, especially food allergies. Due to the unpredictable nature of allergic reactions, epinephrine auto-injectors (EpiPens) are prescribed. EpiPens deliver medicine quickly and effectively. No child has ever had serious problems from a standard dose of epinephrine when using an EpiPen. Times when you need to use an EpiPen can be stressful. To calmly react to an allergic reaction, know when and how to use an EpiPen, understand symptoms of allergic reactions and have an action plan in place. **Updated instructions include holding the EpiPen in place for just three (3) seconds. - Remove EpiPen from case. - Pull off blue safety release. - Inject epinephrine by firmly pushing orange needle end against outer thigh muscle until it "clicks." - Hold in place for 3 seconds to deliver epinephrine, then remove EpiPen. - Seek emergency help by calling 9-1-1. Lessening Home Allergens May Replace Asthma Meds, Which Many Kids Are Misusing. Asthma. It's shockingly normal, influencing upwards of 10 percent of children in the U.S. Presently, in another report from the American Academy of Pediatrics, specialists say that number is more like 25 percent in a few groups, particularly poor ones. Why? Since as indicated by the report, which is distributed in the November 2016 issue of Pediatrics, kids living in neediness have a higher danger of being presented to natural allergens and poisons, for example, second-hand smoke and clean bugs. What's more, unimaginably, the report says lessening introduction to these sorts of toxins can be similarly as viable as drug to control the malady. Obviously, every tyke is unique. Be that as it may, the report says introduction to indoor allergens compounds the condition. In this manner, those with asthma ought to keep away from specific triggers, including: *Dust vermin and form (normal to zones with high stickiness). Consider that upto 62 percent of children with industrious asthma are additionally susceptible to tidy parasites, and about half are sensitiveto shape. *Furry pets. Up to 65 percent of kids with tireless asthma are oversensitive to Fido and his canine partners. *Pests likecockroaches and rodents. Approximately 75 to 80 percent of homes have perceptible measures of mouse allergen; in high-neediness territories, rates can be 1,000-crease more. *Second-hand smoke. The utilization of gas stoves and machines can likewise compound asthma manifestations. *Household chemicals, similar to those found in air fresheners and cleaning specialists, which we know can be respiratory aggravations. "This is the primary report put out by the AAP that gives far reaching data to pediatricians about how to recognize potential asthma triggers and what to prescribe to lessen introduction to these triggers," the examination's lead creator Elizabeth C. Matsui, MD, MHS, FAAP, told Parents.com. She suggests sensitivity testing for any kid with relentless side effects, or who requires incessant or every day solutions for asthma. "The hypersensitivity test comes about help to distinguish allergens in the home that add to the kid's asthma indications and intensifications." RELATED: Childhood Allergies, Asthma May Mean Heart Problems Later in Life. "Working with your kid's pediatrician to distinguish you youngster's asthma triggers through hypersensitivity testing and expelling the triggers from your home can prompt noteworthy enhancements in your kid's asthma," Dr. Matsui let us know. "These enhancements may incorporate less requirement for day by day controller prescription or albuterol (safeguard pharmaceutical) and less asthma intensifications." A few children will in any case require pharmaceutical, obviously. In any case, another examination distributed not long ago found that numerous children utilize asthma inhalers inaccurately, prompting superfluous asthma assaults, crisis room visits, and healing center affirmations. "We see a considerable measure of kids, truth be told, who simply don't know how to utilize their inhalers by any stretch of the imagination," BJ Lanser, MD, a pediatrician and asthma master at National Jewish Health in Denver said in a public statement. That could be because of never figuring out how to appropriately utilize an inhaler, he included. RELATED: How to Use an Inhaler With a Spacer and Mask. As indicated by the investigation, the issue is that poor inhaler procedure neglects to convey prescriptions profound into children's aviation routes, where they're required. One of the more typical errors kids make is utilizing an inhaler without a spacer (a plastic tube appended to the mouthpiece). At the point when a kid enacts the inhaler, the spacer enables the pharmaceutical to blend with air, so it can be breathed in more successfully. "Without a spacer, 70 to 80 percent of the pharmaceutical winds up in the youngster's mouth and never gets profound into the lungs," said Dr. Lanser, including, "In the event that they keep on making those oversights a great many doses, their indications start to compound and frequently those kids wind up in the clinic." He offers these tips to enable kids to get the most out of their asthma medication: *Always stand when utilizing an inhaler. This enables the lungs to completely extend, so the medicine can get where it's required most. All Photos Licensed Under CC Source : www.pexels.com www.pixabay.com www.commons.wikimedia.org

http://www.onlinedermclinic.com Learn the signs, symptoms, and complications of this increasingly common skin disease. Atopic dermatitis (eczema) usually starts during infancy. Patients are at increased risk for hay fever, asthma, food allergy and hives. Watch our tutorials given by U.S. Board Certified dermatologists. ATOPIC DERMATITIS (Eczema) MANAGEMENT GUIDE This is one of the most common skin diseases. In babies, it is most commonly called infantile Eczema. Although it can occur for the first time at any age, it usually begins in infancy. Many children outgrow the problem by young adulthood. The tendency to develop atopic dermatitis is inherited. There are three conditions, which are very similar diseases but involve different parts of the body -- asthma, hay fever, and atopic dermatitis. Eczema is not contagious. While certain allergies may worsen Eczema, they are not the basic cause of Eczema. There is no cure for Eczema but most patients can be controlled with treatments available today. Control of the disease is essential because the itching and other discomforts associated with this disease can intrude on the quality of life. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS Soap is irritating to the skin of persons with atopic dermatitis, and should be used sparingly, if at all. A "soap substitute" such as CeraVe, Cetaphil, Purpose or Oilatum is recommended. Wool acts like sandpaper on atopic skin. Wool blankets, upholstery, rugs, car seats and coats should be avoided. Silk and synthetic clothes may worsen the disease also. Cotton is usually well tolerated. Dry skin may cause worsening of atopic dermatitis. Low humidity robs the skin of its moisture. Keep the skin moist with bland emollients such as CeraVe or Cetaphil cream. These are most beneficial when applied over wet skin after bathing. A room humidifier/cool mister is helpful during the winter months. Emotions -- The tiny skin blood vessels are under control of the sympathetic nervous system. We blush with embarrassment, flush with anger, and pale with fright. When persons with atopic dermatitis get mad, their skin gets red and starts to itch. This is true even of small babies. The time of year -- Most people with atopic dermatitis are worse in the winter and improve during the summer. However, 25% will be worse during the summer because atopic skin develops prickly heat easily causing the dermatitis to flare. Geographical area -- The place you live rarely makes any real difference. Atopic dermatitis occurs in all peoples of all nations of the world. Scratching -- Atopic dermatitis is commonly known as "the itch that rashes". Persons with atopic dermatitis itch much more easily than those who do not have Eczema. Rubbing and scratching worsen Eczema -- it is very important to minimize scratching. Eczema does not cause scars but scratching may. Diets -- Special elimination diets are seldom of help in Eczema. A normal, well-balanced diet should be followed. TREATMENT Avoid things that irritate -- Fragrance, woolen products, excess heat or cold, emotional upsets, dust, soaps, animal hair, feathers. Control the dry skin -- Special soap substitutes should be used. Bathe no more than once daily. After bathing apply the prescribed medications or a lubricating cream to the moist skin to help keep water in the skin. Apply a cortisone preparation to the areas of the rash as directed, usually twice daily. Control scratching -- Stockings over hands may help control scratching in children. Keep fingernails trimmed. Antihistamines (used as anti-itch medications) are helpful, especially at bedtime. In severe cases or flare ups, oral medications, light therapy, or injections may be used to control the disease. Flare-ups should be brought under control early -- waiting will only make it more difficult to achieve control. Avoid contact with persons having Fever blisters. The virus that causes Fever blisters can spread to all areas involved with Eczema and cause serious complications.

ALLERGIC ASTHMA Symptoms, Causes & Treatments OVERVIEW Allergic asthma is asthma caused by an allergic reaction. It’s also known as allergy-induced asthma. You may have allergic asthma if you have trouble breathing during allergy season. People with allergic asthma usually start feeling symptoms after inhaling an allergen such as pollen. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America reports that more than half of people with asthma have allergic asthma. Allergic asthma is treatable in most cases. SYMPTOMS Allergic asthma and regular asthma have the same symptoms. They include: • Wheezing. • Coughing. • Chest tightness. • Rapid breathing. • Shortness of breath. If you have hay fever or skin allergies, you might also experience: • Itchy skin. • Rash. • Flaky skin. • Runny nose. • Itchy eyes. • Watery eyes. • Congestion. If you swallowed the allergen, these symptoms might be present as well: • Hives. • Swollen face or tongue. • Tingly mouth. • Swollen mouth, throat, or lips. • Anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction). CAUSES You develop allergies when your immune system overreacts to the presence of a harmless substance called an allergen. Some people may develop breathing problems from inhaling allergens. This is known as allergic asthma. It occurs when the airways swell as part of an allergic reaction. In general, inhaled allergens cause allergic asthma. Some allergens that can cause this condition include: • Pollen. • Pet dander. • Dust mites. • Tobacco smoke. • Air pollution. • Strong odors, including scented lotions and perfumes. • Chemical fumes. Less common allergens that can cause an asthmatic reaction include: • Cockroaches. • Milk. • Fish. • Shellfish. • Eggs. • Peanuts. • Wheat. • Tree nuts. Even though an asthmatic reaction to these allergens is less common, they may cause a more serious reaction. TREATMENT Treating allergic asthma can involve treating the allergy, the asthma, or both. Asthma To treat your asthma, your doctor may prescribe inhaled anti-inflammatory medication or oral medications that help block the allergic response. A fast-acting relief inhaler, such as albuterol (ProAir HFA, Proventil HFA, Ventolin HFA) is best used to treat asthma symptoms when they occur and may be the only medication needed if you have intermittent symptoms. If you have mild persistent asthma symptoms, inhalers may be prescribed for daily usage. Examples of these include Pulmicort, Asmanex, and Serevent. If your asthma symptoms are more severe, an oral medication like Singulair or Accolate is often taken in addition to the inhalers. Allergies Allergy treatment depends on the severity of your symptoms. You may need an antihistamine to deal with classic allergy symptoms such as itching. You might also need allergy shots if your symptoms are more severe.
