Cat Allergies?, Try this Cat allergies in people are caused by a reaction to allergens produced cats most often when they lick their fur. Symptoms of an allergic reaction to cats include swollen, red, itchy, watery eyes; nasal congestion, itchy nose, sneezing, chronic sore throat or itchy throat, coughing, wheezing, asthma, hay fever, hives or rash on the face or chest, or itchy skin. Besides people taking allergy medications or allergy vaccinations and giving your cat a cat bath, sometimes in certain cases supplements and vitamins can help minimize a person's reaction to the dander from cats. Two main vitamins for cat allergies are vitamin C and vitamin D. Btw "Putin the Cat" is very likely an Blue Abyssinian cat and not a Russian Blue. I got him at Judy's Pet Rescue in Florida. His marking are very much like the Blue Abyssinian cat. Btw both Abyssinian cats and Russian Blue cats are considered more non-allergenic cats than most cats. Abyssinian cats are popular in the USA and are easier to find. They are also a very dog-like cat. "Putin the Cat" is very loyal and dog-like and that is actually a strong trait in the Abyssinian cat.

http://catcaretips.org Cat Allergies are very common and this is not limited to people who have a cat in their house. This makes the cat a very potent allergen. Before you begin to learn more how to deal with the allergy you need first to understand what causes the allergy -- really. The primary cat allergen is found in their saliva called the Fel d 1. Since cats have impeccable grooming they love to bath themselves in their saliva and this in turn make their fur and dander very potent for those who are allergic to them. Cat's dander is also very fine inhaling it deep in the lungs is very easy. This causes major problems with people who have allergic asthma. Other cat allergens include the albumin that is commonly found in cat's urine, saliva and blood. Being allergic to cats is a pretty common thing. 25% of people with allergies are allergic to cats. This makes it a potent problem for many innocent allergic people walking through public places that were either visited by a cat or simply the allergens were carried by people who walked through the same place. Since cat fur and cat dander can easily cling on to clothing places where cats have not been before also have traces of the allergens. Cat dander can be very common that itcan be a component of house dust.Controlling the symptoms of cat allergy can be very simple. The very first thing you can do is getting rid of your cat. Cat avoidance though is not a choice for many cat owners. They rather suffer than part with their beloved pets. Allergy shots can be a very good option but you have to understand that unless you get rid of your cat or cats you will still run a higher chance of having the allergy symptoms. If getting rid of the cats is not an option you can choose more subtle measures around the house. Cat allergies can be controlled by making sure you cat is neutered. You can also choose to bath the cat at least once a week. You can remove the cat from your bedroom if he enjoyed that privilege before. This will make sure you have a bubble of "safety" from the allergens. More Cat Allergies Information on catcaretips.org

New researchers finds that bringing your first cat into your home when you're an adult raises allergy risk by 85 percent. CBS News medical contributor Dr. Holly Phillips shares tips to combat your pet allerg It's good news for cat lovers: A new, more effective treatment for allergies may be on the way. Scientists at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom have discovered the receptor protein in human cells that triggers cat allergies. They anticipate that new drugs will be developed to bind the protein and prevent people from having an inflammatory response. More on Yahoo!: Cat Nurses Abandoned Puppy It has long been known that cat allergies are caused by people reacting to cat proteins secreted by the salivary or scent glands being transferred to the fur Dr. Clare Bryant, lead researcher told Yahoo! Shine.Other allergen—for example house dust mite allergy protein—trigger a receptor protein in host [human] cells and we wondered if cat allergen would have similar effects. We did not expect this to happen because the cat allergy protein is very different to the house dust mite protein so we were very surprised to find that it triggered inflammation through the same receptor. Also on Yahoo! Shine:Top 10 Cat Beards on the Internet About 10 percent of people have pet allergies and reactions to cats are twice as common as reactions to dogs. Cat allergies are especially pernicious because the proteins are small light and sticky. They float through the air and when they land on a surface—a piece of clothing for instance—they can be transferred to places that are cat-free.Symptoms include sneezing watery eyes stuffy nose sore throat hives wheezing and in severe cases asthma. VIDEO:Mustachioed Cat Finds Internet Fame Currently the only way to treat cat allergies is to reduce the symptoms with antihistamines or decongestants or endure weekly shots to boost the immune system—which can take as long as a year to kick in and may not even be effective. Bryant can't predict exactly how long it will take for new drugs to reach on the market—that's up to the pharmaceutical companies—but says that drugs that inhibit the receptor have already been tested in clinical trials for conditions such as sepsis. She added I would anticipate that an allergic person could say inhale a blocking drug before going to a house with cats and not get a reaction. And allergic dog lovers have cause for hope too. Bryant believes the findings could lead to improved treatment for canine allergies. The research will be published in an upcoming issue of the Journal of Immunology.

How to Deal With Cat Allergies - Cat 101 - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. Hello. My name is Dr. Carolyn Quagliata. I am the owner and founder of City Pet Doctor, New York City's premiere house call vet service. The way you will know if you are allergic to your cat is that you will have runny nose, itchy eyes, scratchy throat, excess sneezing, and in some cases symptoms of asthma. It is very heartbreaking when you realize that your allergic to your cat or if you want to get a cat, and you realize that you are allergic. But the good thing, is that most people's symptoms are mild to moderate, and they can be controlled enough where you can live harmoniously with your cat. The first thing, there is definitely a lot of good medications out there that you can take that will help decrease the symptoms and there are also things that you can do in the environment in your home that will help decrease your symptoms. The main thing to understand is that the allergen is actually in the cat's saliva. It is called, dander. And when a cat grooms themselves the dander actually aerosolizes and you breathe it or it touches your skin and that is what causes the allergic reaction. So if you use a hepa filter on a regular basis. If you wipe down your cat with safe wipes to help decrease the amount of dander. That helps. And then the last thing is to keep the cats out of the bedroom so that the allergic person has a safe haven. So if you follow these steps a lot of times you can control your symptoms enough to be able to live harmoniously with your cat.

Am I allergic to cats? To know if you are allergic to cats, like a lot of people, it is essential to pay attention to certain signs and symptoms. Signs that you are allergic to cats Although the allergist is a specialist through different skin tests, the truth is that we can identify different typical signs of being allergic to cats: 1. Nasal congestion or discharge It's the most obvious sign that we're allergic to cats. Some people start sneezing nonstop when a cat approaches them. Others feel that their nostrils are clogged, and there are cases in which they secrete fluid as if it were water. They may also have a red or tender nose. 2. Redness and itching of the eyes When cat dander floats in the air and comes into contact with the eyes, an allergic person's reaction may be itching, irritation, redness, or even involuntary shedding of tears. Be very careful not to rub your eyes to reduce itching, because this can be bad for your eye health. Always dry with a clean handkerchief and do not touch your face without washing your hands thoroughly. 3. Breathing problems If you are allergic to cats you may experience some breathing difficulties when you are near them. If you have asthma, you may need to use your regular medication to reduce your symptoms. You may also have coughing, chest pain, wheezing, or chest tightness. It is very important that you ventilate the house or go outside to try to breathe better. 4. Rashes In addition, some people who come into contact with cats while allergic may experience skin problems: eczema, hives, redness, rashes, itching, hives, or dryness. Worst of all, scratching to reduce itching can infect the area. Therefore, it is always recommended to wash your hands or even use gloves at night to avoid hurting yourself while sleeping. I'm allergic to cats: what do I do? If you have adopted a cat and then become aware that you are allergic to it, do not abandon it as a first step. You may not be able to eliminate the allergy completely, but you can reduce it considerably with some methods, such as washing your hands after touching the animal or cleaning its sandbox. Also, try to not let your cat go inside your room to prevent further complications with your allergy.

Hey guys! I am so excited to share with you this powerful meditation, visualization, energy healing, spiritually shifting exercise! A couple weeks ago, I was visiting a friend in Texas who has 2 cats. I've been allergic to cats since I was a child, and it is always a big cause for concern and anxiety for me. I've had severe allergic reactions to cats before, so I was a little worried. But I wanted to make a big shift. I knew that allergies have a psycho-spiritual component, so I decided to begin my healing journey. After doing this meditation a few times before my trip, I was symptom free for 5 nights at my friend's house, taking only 1 allergy pill per day (which used to never work!). And I hope to soon be allergy meds free, as well! Give it a try! Let me know how it goes. When the cat licks itself, it stimulates both its salivary glands as well as sebaceous glands in its skin, all of which produce a protein known as Fel d 1. Another common allergen is Fel d 4, which is primarily expressed via the cat’s saliva. While there are other potential allergens, these two are the primary things that cause an allergic reaction in some humans. (It should also be noted that female cats produce less of these allergens than their male counterparts owing to testosterone increasing production of the offending proteins.) Does My Cat Have a Food Allergy? What is a food allergy? In cats with food allergies, certain ingredients can trigger an immune-system response. A food allergy isn’t quite the same thing as a food sensitivity. Food sensitivity usually affects a cat’s digestion (think vomiting and diarrhea); but a food allergy often appears as a skin problem. If your cat seems itchy and you’ve ruled out fleas or reactions to pollen and grass, there’s a chance that something in your pet’s food is causing the trouble. None of this is your fault, by the way. Veterinary studies show that cats can develop allergies even to ingredients they’ve eaten all of their lives without any problems. While food additives are often blamed for causing allergies or sensitivities, there’s not much evidence to support this. Most often, cats are allergic to: Lamb Whitefish Dairy Beef How are food allergies treated in cats? A vet can help you figure out if kitty has a food allergy and may recommend a different type of food. Cat food labeled “grain-free” or “limited ingredient” can be a good choice; it’s often made without the ingredients that cause trouble for some cats. Grain-free cat food contains no wheat, corn or soy, all of which can sometimes cause reactions in cats. Limited-ingredient cat food is often made with alternative or “novel” proteins, such as salmon, turkey or duck. Do remember to read labels carefully. Even a cat food designated “grain-free” or “limited ingredient” may still contain an ingredient that bothers your cat. How do I change my cat’s diet? Transition your cat to a new food by substituting a little of the new stuff for the old stuff in their usual meal. Swap out a little more at the next feeding, and so on, for a week. By the seventh day, your cat should be completely switched over to the new food. Remember to avoid giving your cat treats and people food, which may include some of the allergens you’re trying to avoid. If you notice any new symptoms, talk to your vet. visit http://fumix.info/eczema to know more Cat allergy symptoms When you're in grade school, about the only disease you think you could possibly catch is a case of the "cooties" from the opposite sex. But in my case, it was real. "I had Eczema..."In the beginning, it cropped up in common places like my elbows and wrists. I could hide behind long sleeves in the winter - but it wasn't long before summer rolled around and shorts, t-shirts and sandals. And that's when you'd hear the whispers. The gossip. The questionable looks from teachers and other parents who wondered if you were getting abused at home for all the red, irritable patches on your skin that looked like someone punched you straight in the face.Names like "Leper", "Creep" and "Scaly" still ring in the back of my mind like it was yesterday. That's why, when I started noticing Samuel scratching his back against a door frame, I lifted up his shirt and noticed all the sure-fire signs of eczema: Blotchy red skin Scaly patches with oozing Incredible itching that keeps coming back Skin that would heal and then break out again As a skin care specialist with a medical background, I wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something, so I took my son to a dermatologist. It was just as I expected. He sent us home with a bunch of creams and ointments to try. Cat allergy symptoms

Originally published on July 25, 2013 Scientists in the UK have discovered how allergic reactions to cats are triggered. A research team from the University of Cambridge discovered that the Fel d 1 protein found in cat dander is the most common cause of severe allergic reactions to cats. Cat dander is microscopic pieces of dry skin cells, which are often accompanied by dried saliva from grooming. It was also discovered that when environmental bacterial toxin, lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is present, it intensifies the body's inflammatory response to the cat protein Fel d 1. The scientists also identified the part of the immune system that recognises the LPS contaminated Fel d 1 is the pathogen recognition receptor Toll-like receptor 4, an important protein in the activation of the innate immune system. They used a drug to inhibit the TLR4 response which then blocked the effects of the cat dander protein on human cells and thereby preventing an inflammatory response. The research is expected to lead to new and improved treatments for cat and possibly dog allergy sufferers. -------------------------------------------------------- TomoNews is your daily source for top animated news.
