For more information go to: http://www.vaneverychiropractic.com At Van Every Family Chiropractic Center we provide chiropractic care for the entire family including children, babies, pregnant women, and the elderly. We strive to educate our patients and community on how to live healthier lives. In our office we accomplish this goal by using a chiropractic adjusting technique called Koren Specific Technique, or KST. This revolutionary chiropractic technique is probably unlike any treatment you may have experienced in another office. It is very different than manual adjusting, because there is no cracking, popping or twisting. Most chiropractic adjustments, in fact, will be done with the patient standing up. We use a chiropractic tool called the Arthrostim to tap the bone into place, instead of using our hands to manually adjust. This tool allows us to easily and comfortably adjust any bone, including your cranial bones. An overwhelming amount of our patients have had amazing results with the KST technique, including many who have not responded to being manually adjusted or have come to our office because they have "tried everything else" without success. KST is very gentle, but very powerful. Schedule an appointment with us at Van Every Family Chiropractic Center located in Royal Oak Michigan to find out what our patients already know. We have had great success in helping the body heal from many issues. Chiropractic care using the Koren Specific Technique can help Headaches, TMJ dysfunction, head, neck pain, shoulder, arm pain, numbness & tingling, sinus trouble, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, asthma, indigestion, ADHD, colic, menstrual difficulties, pregnancy-related pain, car accident injuries, whiplash, muscle pain, back pain, sciatic pain, hip pain, knee pain, ankle pain, foot pain, ear infections, growing pains, bed wetting, stress, anxiety, infertility and so much more. We are confident that your experience in our office will be like no other. Everything in our chiropractic clinic is designed for your success; we have a very comfortable office, friendly staff that know our patients by name, an awesome jungle room for children, babies, and infants, progressive and caring Chiropractors that are receptive to each patients' individual needs, a state-of-the-art spinal Thermo-scan to objectively measure your progress, and we utilize a breakthrough chiropractic adjusting technique, called Koren Specific Technique, or KST. Van Every Family Chiropractic Center was established in 1998 by Dr. Anna Saylor. For more information, Call 248-616-0900 or visit us on the web at http://www.vaneverychiropractic.com

A4 - Accruing Savings with Insurance-Funded Home Visits: The Michigan Asthma Case Management Model Part 2 of 4 Karen Meyerson, MSN, RN, FNP-C, Manager, Asthma Network of West Michigan Recorded at the "Clearing the Air" conference addressing asthma disparities in Maryland on June 28th, 2011. Held at the Maritime Institute Conference Center in Linthicum, MD. For more materials visit; http://www.aafa-md.org/ http://www.aafa-md.org/asthma_summit.htm http://www.aafa-md.org/thumbdrive.htm earn about an innovative model that better manages asthma and saves health care dollars by reducing asthma hospitalizations and emergency room visits. The Asthma Network of West Michigan (ANWM) was formed in 1994 when community leaders came together to address the rise in morbidity and mortality associated with pediatric asthma. ANWM received funding for a demonstration project to deliver home-based asthma care to uninsured and under- insured children whose asthma was leading to a high number of ER visits and missed school days. ANWM now provides comprehensive home-based case management to children Limited health literacy is a health disparity and a social determinant of health. In this interactive session, learn about the importance of health literacy as a factor in addressing health disparities. Health literacy is dened as an individual's ability to read, understand and use health care information to make decisions and follow instructions for treatment. There are multiple denitions of health literacy, in part because health literacy involves the context (or setting) in which health literacy demands are made (e.g., health care, media, Internet or tness facility), and the skills that people bring to that situation. Studies reveal that up to half of patients cannot understand basic health care information. Low health literacy reduces the success of treatment and increases the risk of medical error. and adults, including asthma education, coordination with health care providers, use of asthma action plans, home environmental assessments, and social worker support. Priority Health, ANWM's rst health plan partner, agreed to reimburse ANWM for its home visit program in 1999 - which is believed to be the nation's rst agreement between a grassroots coalition and a Managed Care Plan. Contracts now exist between ANWM and ve local health plans. ANWM receives reimbursement for home-based case management of individuals with Medicaid, commercial, or Medicare coverage. Third-party reimbursement now supports over one-third of the ANWM annual budget. Karen L. Meyerson, MSN, RN, FNP-C, AE-C is Manager of the Asthma Network of West Michigan (ANWM), the asthma coalition serving West Michigan. A certied asthma educator, she supervises a sta of asthma educators and medical social workers providing intensive case management services for low-income children and adults with uncontrolled asthma. ANWM is believed to be the rst grass-roots asthma coalition in the nation to receive third- party payer reimbursement for its home-based asthma case management services. Karen also serves on the Asthma Network's Speaker's Bureau and has lectured extensively on asthma for both professional and lay audiences. In addition, she has served as a national speaker and consultant/mentor for asthma programs and coalitions nationwide who wish to replicate ANWM's reimbursed case-management model. She is also a Nurse Practitioner in private practice, specializing in asthma and allergies. In addition, Karen serves on the Michigan Department of Community Health-sponsored Michigan Asthma Advisory Committee, the Michigan Pediatric Asthma Mortality Review Panel, the Michigan Consortium of Asthma Coalitions Steering Team, and was elected to the National Asthma Educator Certication Board (NAECB), where she is currently Chair of the Board.

I read about RespiCare Salt therapy and under went 10 Therapy Sessions, then repeated my Pulmonary Function Test and really surprised to learn that my Lungs are completely normal after Salt therapy and that is really a proved successful treatment for me. Pharmacogenomics is the study of how genetic variations influence a person's response to medication — why some drugs work better for some children than for others, and what part genes may play in a medication's effectiveness. Translational research means taking what we learn in research and using that information to improve patient care — translating findings from the lab to the bedside. The CPTR brings Nemours doctors, nurses, researchers and respiratory therapists together in a team approach to caring for children. Combining our research efforts with patient care allows Nemours doctors to achieve the best possible outcome for each child. To learn more, visit Nemours.org/research

In this week's Asthma House Calls, we sat down to talk with Dr. Sandy Vieder on what an urgent care center is, why it might make sense to go to an urgent care center instead of an emergency room, things you can do to make going to urgent care or an emergency room less stressful for your child, and gives some valuable advice for talking to your child about asthma. In Part V of our interview, Dr. Vieder talks to us about why taking your child to an urgent care center or an emergency room while they're well may be a good way to reduce your child's stress level and your own during an asthma attack. Dr. Sandy Vieder is with Lakes Urgent Care and Michigan State University. Dr. Vieder is Chairman and medical director of the Emergency Trauma Center at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills and also a clinical professor of medicine at Michigan State University. Dr. Vieder is board certified in emergency medicine. For educational purposes only. Nothing in Asthma House Calls should be considered medical advice or a medical opinion. For medical advice, please consult your physician.

A4 - Accruing Savings with Insurance-Funded Home Visits: The Michigan Asthma Case Management Model Part 1 of 4 Karen Meyerson, MSN, RN, FNP-C, Manager, Asthma Network of West Michigan Recorded at the "Clearing the Air" conference addressing asthma disparities in Maryland on June 28th, 2011.
