The reason why stiff arteries are a main concern for doctors is because they can cause the heart to work harder to pump blood through the body. Artery calcification is just one of the many problems a large amount of potassium in your diet can help prevent. Atherosclerosis is another condition that refers to the deposition of fat plaques and cholesterol globules within the arteries causing narrowing of the lumen of the arteries.” Scientists also made reference that vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs), also contribute to vascular calcification in arteriosclerosis. They also went on to state that “Arterial stiffness has become an independent predictor of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, representing an important health problem for the nation as a whole.” Bananas help balance your sugar level, because they don’t raise your glycemic index. And any breakfast isn’t complete without 1 cup of black coffee or caffeinated tea. Please note, you cannot add any sugar, cream, milk or sweeteners into your coffee or tea. These beverages are not essential to the diet as you can substitute it with any amount of water. But green tea and coffee both have thermogenic properties (burns more calories) and black coffee has the ability to suppress your appetite. The next meal of the day (lunch) consists of half a cup of tuna, another slice of toast (but no peanut butter this time) and water, black coffee or tea. If you need to season your foods then go with alternatives such as garlic salt, pepper, honey mustard, and any other low or no calorie seasoning. For dinner, you can have 3 ounces of any type of meat, 1 cup of green beans, half a banana, one small apple and one cup of vanilla ice cream. As you can tell, there isn’t a lot of food in this diet and that’s because lowering calories is what causes weight loss. If you wanna drop the pounds, you got to cut the calories! The next morning, breakfast should include one slice of multigrain or whole wheat toast, one whole egg, and half a banana. This diet is intended to last three days, and then take 4 days off. Rinse and repeat until you achieve the results you desire. The 4 days off do not mean you can binge eat and eat yourself to sickness. The goal should still be to eat around 1,500 calories or less. For lunch, you are entitled to one cup of cottage cheese (or you can replace it with 1 slice of cheddar cheese), 1 hard boiled egg and 5 saltine crackers. Dinner is served! You can have two hot dogs (minus the buns), 1 cup of broccoli, half a cup of carrots, half a banana, and half a cup of vanilla ice cream. This diet dictates vanilla ice cream only (why? I have no clue) but you can substitute ice cream (who would do that?) with one cup of apple juice or one cup of vanilla, strawberry or banana flavored almond milk. The vegetables on this diet should be steamed, baked, boiled or eaten raw. Meat should be grilled or baked, and if you are a vegetarian then you can substitute the protein sources with tofu, lentils, beans and/or portobello mushrooms. The third and final day has arrived! You’re almost there, don’t give up now! For breakfast, you are to have 5 saltine crackers, 1 slice of cheddar cheese and 1 small apple. Saltine crackers can be replaced with rice cakes (one for one) and cheddar cheese can be replaced with ham, eggs, cabbage or soy cheese. Don’t forget your black coffee or caffeinated tea! This lunch is going to be a bit small but on the menu is one slice of whole wheat or multigrain toast and one hard boiled egg. You can switch the egg out for one cup of milk, or two slices of bacon or just one chicken wing. As you can probably tell, from day 1 to day 3 there is a slow and gradual reduction of even more calories (hence the rapid weight loss.) For the last meal of day 3, you can have 1 cup of tuna, half a banana and one cup of vanilla ice cream. And remember, there is no snacking allowed on this diet. Changes In the Breasts: In many cases, a lump on the breast doesn’t necessarily mean cancer. But if you notice a lump on your breast, you should consult your doctor. Bloating: According to Marleen Myers, an oncologist at NYU Langone Medical Center, women are natural bloaters. Constant bloating can be one of the common cancer signs that many women ignore. It could be colon cancer, ovarian cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, or even pancreatic cancer. Never ignore any unusual changes to your body! 3. Bleeding Between Periods: If you’re continuously spotting between periods, go speak to your doctor. Any bleeding that is not part of the menstrual cycle may be due to many different causes. Your doctor will want to rule out endometrial cancer, so be sure to notice any changes to your menstrual cycle. 4. Changes In The Nails: A small brown vertical stripe in one of your toenails might be a sign of melanoma. So if you notice any peculiar changes to your toe nails, you might want to contact your doctor to ensure it may not be a sign of melanoma. 5. Blood In the Urine Or Stool: In most cases, blood in the urine or stool is caused by hemorrhoids. But it can also be a sign of colon cancer. If you’re bleeding from an area that doesn’t usually bleed, consult your doctor. Especially if this bleeding lasts for more than two days. 6. Lymph Nodes Changing: In most cases, the lymph nodes change when they become infected. The infections are usually harmless and the body fights them off. But in some cases, such as leukemia and lymphoma, they also cause the lymph nodes to swell. If the swelling is present for at least a month, speak to your doctor. 7. Can’t Swallow: It’s natural to have trouble swallowing at times. But if it is happening often, and vomiting and weight loss are also present, you may have throat or stomach cancer. If these symptoms have not subsided after a few weeks, go speak to your doctor so he/she can properly examine you. 8. Unexpected Weight Loss: if you notice that you have not made any changes to your diet or exercise regimen but are still losing weight, visit a medical clinic to rule out the potential for cancer or any other illnesses. 9. Heartburn: Heartburn can be caused by excessive food or alcohol consumption. It will eventually go away with time and rest. If the heartburn does not go away, or it gets worse, it could be stomach, ovaries or throat cancer. In addition, constant heartburn will damage the lining of the esophagus, which can develop into Barrett’s esophagus. This condition raises the risk of developing throat cancer. 10. Changes of the Mouth: For women who smoke, look for white, yellow or gray patches inside your mouth. Cancer sores will also develop, which could be a sign of oral cancer. 11. Developing a Fever: When people develop the flu, they have a fever that will last a couple of days. But a fever that does not subside can mean many different things. Leukemia and other blood cancers can be the cause of the fever. If you have an ongoing fever and cannot determine the cause of it, visit your doctor or the emergency room to determine what may be causing it. 12. A Cough: Most people who develop coughs will see it go away within four weeks. Any cough that lasts longer than a month should not be ignored. If you’re a smoker or are having shortness of breath with this cough, consult your doctor. Overall Poor Health: A study conducted by Greenfield and Marks in 2009 found that children who reported psychological or physical abuse had worse health as an adult than those who did not experience these traumatic events. 12. Lower Education: In 2010, a study was conducted by Currie and Spatz Widom that highlighted a correlation between child abuse and neglect and their future economic well being as an adult. The authors of the study found that those who experienced trauma as a child had ‘lower educational and occupational attainment’ which then put them at a lower income level. 11. Future Poverty: In a 2009 study which looked at child maltreatment and their social and economic well being, it was derived that those who experienced ‘more than one type of childhood maltreatment are more likely to be unemployed in adulthood or to have had a job loss in their family that resulted in financial hardship.’ 10. Weight Gain or Obesity: A study which was conducted by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) found that people who were able to successfully lose weight and keep it off were those individuals who did NOT experience trauma as a child. 9. Risk Assessment: In a study done by University of Wisconsin-Madison psychology professor Seth Pollak, he found that kids who have experienced trauma and extreme stress as a child were unable to make good decisions later on in life. 8. Don’t stand up for yourself: Those who have been emotionally abused as children have a difficult time standing up for themselves as adults. They are afraid to take action and often avoid conflict at all costs. 7. People pleaser: If you were raised to be terrified that you may anger someone, you may grow up doing everything in your power to please everyone even at the expense of sacrificing your own needs or desires. 6. Overly shy: Because people who’ve experienced this kind of abuse are used to silencing their voice so as to not displease authority, they often grow up finding it difficult to reach out to others and have trouble speaking to new people and forming new relationships. Childhood trauma, as mentioned earlier, has been linked to anxiety and behavioral disorders in adults and as a result, it is more likely that these adults will grow up without the ability to build meaningful relationships and will thus remain shy and timid. 5. Self-blame: Even when they are not at fault, those who have been through emotional abuse will constantly find themselves at fault and will always be afraid of making mistakes. 4. Bully yourself: If you have experienced emotional abuse, you may find yourself using the same disparaging language that your abuser used against you. This means that even if they are no longer in your life, you pick up where they left off. Similar to the above point, some people who have been abused place the blame upon themselves and continue to make poor decisions whether it be in their education, career or social lives. 3. Need for validation: If you have been abused, you constantly need to be told that you’re doing a good job. You can’t provide validation for yourself because you feel as if nothing you do is ever good enough, so you look for validation externally. 2. They can be the most compassionate person towards you, and then the moment someone else is around, they can turn their back on you like it was nothing. These actions are red flags because they do not fit the normal personality frame. Drama Queens: They never like taking responsibility for their own behavior. So they tend to toss the blame onto other people and avoid admitting they’re wrong. They will do everything in their power to convince you that their story checks out and will deny any fault that may be possible. Manipulators: one major sign of an antisocial personality disorder is someone who persistently lies, according to the Mayo Clinic. People with this type of personality disorder are very skilled at this craft so you really need to be aware of this sign. They will do whatever it takes to force the blame on you in order to get out of any situation. Don’t feel like you are the only target, you need to realize that everyone is a target to a psychopath. They love attention and being liked, but can’t stand when things do not go their way. This type of trait is also very common in a narcissist. Excessive Anger: A psychopath or something with an antisocial personality disorder is someone who models excessive anger no matter who they’re with or what they are doing.
